  • get a strong foundation of FIlipino Kali - search "Latrago Kali" drills

  • dang whats with all the dislikes?

  • krav maga is ok but i don't think it can handle against an eskrimador. eskrimadors multiple hits cannot be blocked by a 360 block

  • Learn your Krav Maga then add Kali stick and knife work. One flows into the other. Many a times I disagree with Kali lock flows, it is at that time when I feel krav maga whould be more direct. Now the 360 block can be countered by kali, for when your punched your likely to stubble backwards as a natural response and if his knife is close to your arm, this can cause a cut. Krav Maga is important basics but you need to learn Kali as well for more footwork, coordination and sensitivity .

  • if your Krav Maga instructor is confident 100% of the time he can Defend against a Knife , no problem ( not saying its fake, just sayin GREAT MARKETING AND PR ) but a lil coo koo, , I dont think it was a UFC MMA type contest , as it was a Joint DEMO with the two organizations , talkin oh if it was a real Krav Maga Instructor , Then , whats with the person feeding , is now really goin for the Jugular or just feeding a strike to show the Mechanics of a Technique

  • @somersetkravmaga well , that KM instructor must be a fake or stupid. can't even identify bursting from 360 defense

  • Every Martial Art and fighting style is the best at what it was designed to be. If you choose to compare these two fighting styles please have an experienced Krav Maga Instructor play the part of the defender. In your video the position of the defender is way off. I won't go into too much detail but the point is if you choose to compare, let the two styles be represented fairly. I am a practioner of Kali and an instructor of Krav Maga. Both styles are great and compliment each other.

  • @abcdjkfd silat is a pretty good martial art but i don't think its better than kali because kali (eskrima) has more lethanlness and effectivness that silat doesn't have and what kali does...but ur right it depends on the person behind it however sometimes it also depends on the martial arts sometimes like say karate vs boxing..karate would have a better chance against boxing just like kali has a WAAAYY better chance against silat so yeah. silat is good but not as good as kali eskrima, KALI FTW

  • @copypacercopypacer your analysis is very on point but unarmed fma(dumog for instance combined with panantukan) is very similar to some aspects of silat and kuntao. although some styles of silat look like karate(seni silat gayong) harimau and some styles or kuntao silat hybrids are just as effective as unarmed kali.especially rick hernandez and roberto torres in their respective arts. but i will agree that dumog with it's crippling knee compressions and lower limb destructions are deadly.

  • @jamiirali1 thank you for ur knowledge and i would be very glad if we could discuss this more on PM. ^_^

  • @jamiirali1 i understand they share a good rich history and simularities, especially due to the fact that silat is widely used in the philippines too......

  • it doesnt matter what art u do as long as u do them well , just look at a the different videos on utube . if your shit hot at your art you can kick anybody ass !!

  • quite obvious and eskrima person would have a better chance of winning than the crappy krav maga

  • kali is so much better

  • an art is only superior by it user...

  • @punkerrabbit

Totally agree this isn't a krav block...it's more of an example of how not to block...lol. It's so funny how one martial art tries to put down another yet can't even make a proper example. The slashing is also counted by the 360 defense easily.

  • that is not a krav maga block. It looks more like a traditional karate/TKD block added with a counterstrike. KM blocks are 90degs at the elbow with the full body weight bursting in and the waist bent to create additional safety distance. This is then followed up with trapping of the weapon arm with the entire body weight dropping on it. But...,true knife experts are dangerous and lethal weapons and so even a sound KM blocking/bursting and trapping defense would result in slashes or cuts.....

  • But KM seeks to employ the easiest and most effective way to defend against multiple weapons in multiple situations....

There is no one martial arts/ combat system that has all the answers and no one martial arts/ combat system that can render anyone INVULNERABLE

  • always when i read that people compare krav maga with FMA i must laugh and sometimes i would fuck them up............krav maga is made of FMA,aikido and some other.....so...... please ok

  • Arnis/Eskrima/Kali forever..even for military guys they say

  • Krav Maga got their knife defense from the Southern Phillipines. What they do is very basic Southern FMA. The fact that Inayan has a counter for it is not a big deal b/c there is a counter for everything.

  • the thing is, it's the person behind the martial art that will make it effective.. doesn't matter what you practice, if you don't know how to apply it to a particular situation then it's next to useless..

  • @lavatun exactly

  • @jamesinct no such thing as a "perfect martial art" it all depends on the martial artist to make the art perfect for him, to suit his way of fighting.

  • when someone is attacking you they dont stab you at the first instance they wil slash you even krav maga wont be effective against this

  • 10th dan? dojo fever..

  • escrima will make a bitch out krav manga! any day! nuf said..

  • before there was krav maga.... there's already KALI for over hundreds of years...compared to this bullshit israel apartheid art, krav maga don't even compare! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!!!!

  • the assistants blocking arm isnt even at the right angle as we train in krav maga. If the blocking arm is at 90 degrees it's near impossible to stab and cut the victim. And since krav is made for street fighting and based purely on statistics of what happens to people and how, that is how the system is continually enhanced. Also, krav pulls from nearly every martial art, Kali, Systema, some escrima, and Aikido as long as the technique is effective in the streets. this art is too choreographed

  • Confused a 10th degree in his 30's ?

10th degree is awarded to an exceptional few who dedicate their lives to teaching for decades. Peple such as the founder of aikido or founders of the great martial arts. Realistically it takes around 10 years to get to 4th degree. 15 years to 5th degree and around 55 years post blackbelt training. Perhaps a handfull of great masters in the world attain this rank.

Interesting some one would consider himself such a "Master".

  • @somersetkravmaga

That's cause he's a Jedi Master! LOL The force is strong with him.

  • I'm sure all that Eskrima shit's great until you end up in a REAL fight.

  • well having seen a number of styles, and a number of clubs for my self (krav maga, shotokan karate, wing chun fu, white crane kung fu, BJJ and ju jitsu) i can honestly say that the krav maga club i went to had the most dangerous people in it. normally in a club there are a few dangerous people and for the rest it's a hobbie. at the KM club i went to, they were all very dangerous people, even the ones who didn't really take it seriously.

  • excuse me sir,but there's a correct krav maga technique here. there's no the km stance,no correct arm position in blocking,no explosive counter attack,no correct distance.. there's no krav magà here.

  • The KM instructor isn't giving all because it is a ESCRIMA demonstration, not for krav maga.

even if he gives a attack and defens at the same time, the escrimador gets a punch in he's face, but the KM guy a knife in he's ribs.

each martial arts has he's weak and strong spots, so has even krav maga.

al what that escrimador is doing is helping the KM guy to make the numbers of weaknesses smaller.

    sorry for my bad english

  • I agree with somersetkravmaga, been training Krav Maga for a year now and indeed this instructor is just showing off some fussy motions on a passive man-ridiculous

  • Why are they learning moves to overcome a stab defense. Seems a waste of time. Firstly why would none soldiers need to learn how to knife fight, then what are the chances the person you attack is a krav maga practitioner. Unless your intentionally attacking an IDF soldier, in which case they will likely be carrying an assault rifle. Plus this defense would only work against a basic krav defense, performed by begginers.

  • Fake the title isn't KM vs Inayan Eskrima but Noob vs arrogant and stupid 10th degree master.

Nothing personnal in it sorry but only facts.

  • Observations from A Krav Maga Instructor

    1. The student does not appear to know Krav Maga

    2. This most basic 360 block mastered by beginners is wrong (straight arm)

    3. Student is not bent forward at the waist - moving forward and countering

    4. Student is not controlling the blade, the arm or moving in and countering to the groin.

    Conclusion

Kali Instructor picks an audience member with no/minimal krav maga skills to demonstrate his 'superior system' against the passive target.

  • @somersetkravmaga Exactly, my KM instructors here in Houston would have kicked my ass themselves if I had been so passive in defense training. People forget that Krav is about aggression, and outsiders do not realize that. I still respect Shao Lin, Wing Tsun, Judo and Jujitsu (in certain circumstances) though

  • They're doing the krav defense completely incorrectly

  • Respond to this video...

  • Thats not how a Krav Maga person blocks a knife attack he usually blocks AND hits you at the same time

  • They claim that martial arts is like an exotic dance or competitive sports. And only Krav Maga, is designed for combat. But they can talk all they want, with the talk do not win battles.

  • @TheMurderousSadist Martial arts were disguised as dances they arnt dances by themselves. I never saw a dance were you gouged some guys eyes or did an uppercut under his arm

  • That proof, Krav Maga is a weak and inferior style. With Krav Maga you can only defend yourself against thugs in street, But against other martial arts, Krav Maga Ineffective. This video is proof of that. Israeli people are very arrogant, And talk a lot, Hey seriously, I do not like them, because they have no respect for other martial arts. They always try to degrade ancient Eastern martial arts, To market themselves, and their style.

  • @TheMurderousSadist There arts do work, they dont respect alot of people but thats there belief system. alot of Japanese, Okiawan, and chinese masters also dont repsect other cultures and wouldnt dare teach an american openly

  • This instructor is talking shit. If he has just been blocked and punched in the throat (preferably) or face at 1.5 pace there is no way he would still have his fight sequence in his head and therefore would not be able to pull off the upward slice.

  • its a funny thing how conditioning and adrenaline can make an otherwise normal person into a machine in self-defense.

  • @RoyalKrav He did miss that, In Krav maga like i said you dont just block but you hit at the same time in the throat maybe the face maybe the kneecap or inner leg.

  • as it says in FIght QUest KALi ,,as contracted to be technical advisers for Tom Cruise in Mission Imposible and Jason Bourne Series ,but they didnt mention " The Hunted " with Benition Del Toro

  • Would be interesting to see those guys spar with some RMA (Russian Martial Arts) or Systema fighters. Some very fast knife moves with a focus on body mechanics.

  • FIlipino Escrima was used in the making of the Jason Bourne Series ,,they probably used other civilian contracters but a major contractor advisor for the movie is escrima masters

  • why not a knife attack to an unarmed man that is real life LOL

  • A true kalista with somme spaaring exeperience knows that the distance is maybe 3-4 meters between . By the way why you don't make a panantukan versus krav maga moves ? why knife attacks to a unarmed man ? must be the fear ? Keep training in that way man ... you will see what is happening in the real life

  • the more u practice against a knife the higher you raise your overall percentage of survival against it in an encounter, to get used to in real time the angle and physics, of a real life scenario training real in practice is always useful my friend kali RULES !!

  • I learn a lot from the both martial arts - kali and krav maga but this video is the most stupid idea I ever see. The krav maga guy just stay like dummy, the idea of 360 is explosion and movement counter attack with multiple strikes. And the kali guy seems to be confortable with the idea of dummy enemy , with no moves no angle , stupid mind and no knolege of distance .

  • I'm a kalista and a krav maga black belt 3dan degree. I write because the krav maga guy is just a low level practitioner and the 360 degree move that he make is worth , he don't have the explosion he dont have the right angle of attack .

  • There definitely is value in both. It all depends on the user and their inoculation to stress in conflict. I've trained in Inayan Eskrima up through Level 4. I mean no offense by this...but why is he stabbing an unarmed guy? I just thought it was funny.

  • I don't think this video could show which one is better. The Eskrima guy is a 10th degree master. So it's better if he fought a 10th degree krav maga master (I mean the same level, cuz I don't know what leveling did krav maga use). Then we could see if eskrima can break krav maga's defense, or otherwise.

  • So who is displaying Escrima and who is displaying Krav Maga???

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!! do you wanna really say krav maga is better than FMA.FMA is one of the fastest ways of killing ,disarming and everything else and thats proof.krav maga isnt a martial art

  • @Fight4YourDreams What does fma stand for?

  • wtf?!?!?!?!?!you are kidding me right.you wanna real kidding me.you think im disabled or what man!!!!! fma filipino martial arts

  • what a dumb fuck shit gay question.

    fma filipino martial arts

  • What would be a more intelligent question asking you ahead of time if your a smart ass are asking a question because it covers a subject i obviously know nothing about?

  • I hope people don't take this video as a "this is better than that" scenario.

Man, in the real world, no matter what martial art you use - when you're defending against a knife, you're going to get cut.

I think knives are far more freaky than guns at close range.

Both systems are awesome. Both have counters to each other. Best thing about this video is that it makes you realize nothing is 100% guaranteed in hand-to-hand combat.

  • it's not a true krav maga defensive block.

there's not defense aginst knife expert. and no one have the true at 100%

  • these two are really good system. in one way or another. Eskrima has its root planted on the "streets" while as i've learned KM is more on the survival mode. Their roots itself tells the whole story and the discipline it posses, so these are two different system that would suite on its own world. i respect both system and i personally can't tell w/c one is better. Two great force tested by time... though it's only my opinion. peace out

  • Good video though. Thaks for posting. Again I respect the system of Escrima, my BJJ instructor John Wil also has Dan Inosanto as a training partner, so it's a fascinating weapons art to learn. Please post more

  • redirection, counter, disarma nd escape comes into play.

    And also STRESS.

Moves are all well and good, and pretty techniques are all well and good. But have you practiced them with increased pulse, respiration, BP, being fatigued.

A common Krav Maga stress drill (a simple one we use), is drop the defender and force 100 burpees, 100 pushups, 100 sit ups, then have them get up and defend a knife attack.

    Extreme? YUP. But that's REALITY!

  • attempting to address because Escrima and Arnis are highly effective stick/weapon arts?

But again, Krav is proven in military situations whereas Escrima is more a street level system that is effective.

I've trained extensively with Krav Instructor Armin Peretts in San Francsico and we've drilled @ nauseum weapons defenses and high level Krav takeaways that are not shown to civilians.

IMO nobody in the world is better than the Israeli's at taking weapons away from people.

  • filipino grandmasters train philippine army, israel army(when you dont believe, rodel dagooc),us army and police all over the world.that is to your fact about krav maga is proven in military.our arts are hundreds of years old and it was proven against spanish invadors and it get today every day proven in south philippines against terrorists named abu sayyaf.better let it be

  • @Fight4YourDreams

That's why krav is superior, it's updated constantly where you are still doing the same stupid moves from 100's of years ago. People fight differently now than they did 50 years ago...look at old movies

  • @pcguru2000 nope, fma is better, it has been modified for many years and more of fighting or countering against weapon based and multiple fights, which is why fma stand superior...too bad

  • @pcguru2000 Look at old movies?......Common man. They make movies differently than they did 50 years ago. Krav Maga is a great and practical style for most situations but Kali is highly evolved tribal warfare. There is just no way KM is going to give you the hand speed, footwork and co-ordination that Kali has. Unless Krav Maga people train regularly with double sticks and I really dont think they do.

  • As a Krav Maga instructor in Civilian Krav, I understand somewhat where this instructor of Escrima/Arnis is coming from? I disagree though.

The typical 360 defense of redirection and counter doesent necessarily mean it will be a straight counter. Also, I HIGHLY doubt most knife wielding attackers are going to lunge and also push anticipating a counter.

Actually that instructor I'd bet made up that because he was familiar with Krav's basic Civilian knife defense.

    I respect what he's

  • Further, the reason Krav Maga doesn't emphasize on locks, etc. is because you don't want to do that with a knife-wielding attacker who's OUT TO KILL YOU. Krav Maga isn't a martial art, it's a self defense technique to help you survive. I'd like to see this instructor try these tactics with 3 attackers. Ground-wrestling/grappling is not the best thing to do with a knife, what if your opponent has another knife? His tactic assumes a frontal, controlled confrontation.

  • Krav Maga knife fight lesson #1: Avoid it, run. #2: If 1 doesn't work, put distance/objects between you and the attacker. #3: If 2 doesn't work, find a weapon to your advantage, something long. #4: Use your legs and kick to keep distance, which keeps the knife as far away from you as possible. #5: Block the knife if all the above doesn't work. This instructor has a wrong idea of a knife fight. Yes, knowing the knife helps, but you don't teach it as an offensive weapon, that puts you in jail.

  • What many don't understand is that KM is best done under stress when your instincts drive your every move. In theory there was never any dispute that there are deadlier/"better" moves than KM, but when you have 1 month to train before you enter a land where every man woman and child wants to kill you "DEAD" and believe God will reward them for it, what are you going to remember. P.s. i wonder if these Escrima moves work under extreme stress, Km trainees train w/rubber bullets and while in pain

  • Oh yea I forgot if a Escrima master came up to you and did that I don't care what martial arts you know (including Escrima) your getting cut!

  • Oh I completely agree. You dont want to go fucking around with some of the filipino grandmasters with Escrima/Arnis.

however, what I like about Krav? The israeli's are great @ numbers. % wise? Only 3% of what you'll run into on the street are "trained".

Most are "UNTRAINED". Your likelihood of a filipino expert in Escrima or Arnis is almost nill.

Most likely some jackass is just gonna come @ you flailing away undisciplined & that's where Krav's phiolosophy of 360

  • nobody in their right mind would step up and argue against an Escrima Master with a knife that this or that aint proper Knife defence,,,maybe when the master has left or put away the knife LOL

  • My impression of krav maga is that at the basic levels it does not deal with very intricate disarms, locks, etc. because it was primarily designed as an easy to learn fighting system. Eskrima / kali has similar styles that were designed to teach people / soldiers pretty solid fighting techniques in little time. I have seen kdm & krav maga in play & have both work just fine- kdm just goes into a little more detail. This is a basic demo intended to get peoples attention. It must be working...

  • I totally agree, no way this is a krav defense...can I just add that krav maga is designed to help u deal with the average idiot(s) in the street, not against shaolin masters :)

  • Krav Maga has the techniques to deal with anyone it's just that they either higher up in the system or restricted from civilians. They have beautiful techniques in military, law enforcement and VIP protection. You cannot compare an Eskrima master to an "average" Krav student. Krav is getting popular and many people feel they have to prove their system's better. This is pointless 'cause any martial art is as good as you get in it.

  • With all respect to Kali, this is NOT a Krav defense. Or a ridiculously improper one. The chances that a PROPER 360 defense will make you drop the knife is pretty high. Not to mention that defending a defense means you're an attacker. I can't believe people teach how to attack someone with a knife. This is just not cool....

  • The dude is not even doing the 360 defence correctly.......as a student in both Krav and Escrima, I'll say this video is bullshit....!!

  • I don't know anything about Eskrima, but the way he shows KM knife defense technique is wrong. 2 most important things with it is 1st: block the knife and punch the attacker (it should happen simultaneusly) and it's useless if you don't punch, and 2nd either kick or elbow guy grabing hand with knife same time, or run :) I've seen many diffrent ways to defend from knife attack and I believe that it's much more difficult to defend and unpredictable than with gun.

  • Agreed. Defending against knife attacks are way harder than gun threats (you cannot defend a gun attack, bullets are too fast). A gun is only dangerous where the barrel points. And don't forget the other key points of 360. Knees straight, hips moving back, arms bent 90 degrees striking outwards. Anyone doing Krav knows that if it's done properly it hurts as hell...

  • if you dont know, dont coment! Simple as that!

  • and he may even drop the knife once the strike is blocked; I'm sure that if you've done the 360 defense for any amount of time, you'll know that your hand goes to shit and what's to say (tho maybe not) the strike to the chin / throat won't KO or even crush the attacker's windpipe? the combined force generated between the two fighters' momentum meeting at the throat would definitely crush something, I think. Then comes the psych part. the one with the knife gets f 'd cuz now he's being attacked

  • yeah dude you have definite point there ,360 defence is fore arm deflection, no krav maga trained person would react in this manner i feel. i'm with you dude.

fuck when i almost got stabbed i didnt react this way,lol

  • if u didnt try to argue which is better one is better or worse don't tittle it Inayan Eskrima Vs Krav Maga lol anyway I don't see krav maga. The common krav maga defense is not like this at all. This kind of "study" or demostration is better to do with experts in the martial art you wanna refute.

  • I say, eskrima is for fast combat! the combat will only last for couple seconds by the time it is finished someone with be on the ground. this is not for the street. But if it goes down good luck the the person fighting/defending against eskrima combat mentality w/ or w/o weapon. so you might have to compare eskrima vs combat mma not w/ defense mma (its just my opinion)

  • Comment removed

  • learn from kali ...i really hate kali to be exposed as of today.kali is still used to finished a family and personal feud in the philippines like noble duels of medieval europe.kali is different and unique plus with it's spiritual background it is indeed different.i've seen 68yo man fights like he was possesed.

  • kaliiiii

  • kali is really is a very violent art!krav maga is just a straight fight kali is a pure art!art of killing.

  • krav maga was put together to protect lives rather than some other fighting styles that are now becoming a sport. krav maga is more or a "savage" defense system than an art.

  • Kali is superior to krav maga , but the fact is that kali is very tachnical . I think Krav maga is quicker to learn.

  • Explain how it is superior exactly? I think kali is a wonderful martial way, and an incredibly destructive form, but krav is too. And Krav is more of a street science. You don't need to choreograph a thousand techniques though. You learn a few dozen, and you react instinctively to most others. Thats pretty cool for me, but its all about what you want out of it.

  • @SeanorBen I don't know if it's superior but krav is based on kali and escrima and this stuff is some jungle fighting. This is what they used to kill and behead magellan in our country and to fight off annoying colonialization.

  • ... Key word is USED... This shit is outdated now.

  • funny...Jason tells the guy when he resists the arm lock/bar "go down". lol

  • To be fair, Krav Maga is really effective when it comes to hand to hand combat. (same as your size). But if you are an average guy and you will fight a guy twice your size, Hell brother, I am sure your KM techniques will not work. There are different kinds of Escrima. Try watching Silat or Pekiti Tirsia Kali or even Dog Brothers videos. Perhaps you will agree with me.

  • KM wouldnt work if you threw a kick to that gus nuts?

  • It's all interesting, i just watched some escrima videos to find out what it's all about and it looks nice but seems to me that it's a bit too technical to work in a street situation. Having said that, there are some amazing athletes that can do anything they choose to do but do me a favour Khan, put some 16 ounce gloves on and have a brawl with somebody, you'll find that your technique goes right out the window and anything fancy doesn't work. Krav also works a lot with multiple attackers.

  • krav maga aint shit i do escrima and i gotta say my teachers would whip these guys st8 back to jew land

  • Im sorry but truth is, Kali Escrima is superior to Krav Maga. Just check out the youtube videos of the styles and youll see why.

Im not lying or patronizing one art over the other. It's just the truth. Kthnxbai.

  • wich one is escrima and wich krav maga/ :P

  • If someone were to use that defensive move to BLOCK an attack, then they'll most likely get cut.

If, however, it is used as a STRIKE, then it is highly possible to dislodge the weapon from the hand.

  • I am affiliated with Inayan Eskrima. However, I think this is a bit incorrect. The KM guy is not putting up much of a fight, therefore all the "ifs", "ands", and "buts" of this Inayan defense are not concrete.

Inayan Eskrima is a good system, and so is Krav Maga. No hatred here, so let's cool things down around here.

  • Points to think about :

    1. Kali/Escrima system is way stronger and faster than of the KM system.

    2. Kali system is more of a killing/combat techinique. They are not train for self defense, they are trained to kill and survive.

    3. I believe the KM system will not work if the Escrimadors are holding 2 knives already.

    4. Kali is not for everyone. Its not even a commercialized Martial Arts like the KM.

    5. Kali is a deadly martial arts, Most probably the deadliest.

  • Don't forget that it isn't the martial art or the style that kills - it's the better fighter.

For example: put an average Kali fighter against a seasoned Silat fighter - Kali has no chance. A Krav fighter from the Israeli military isn't some kid who trains KM 3x a week in a dojo - it's a virtual fighting machine.

There are deadly martial arts - but I don't think there is a deadliest.

  • I agree. It boils down who's the better fighter (who's got a lot of training, dedication and love for the art).

  • @fenriz218 The deadliest martial training I've heard of is called, Smith and Wesson Ryu. ;}

  • Krav Maga is a self *defence* discipline, thus, the need for a way to penetrate a KM defence is ridiculous! You* would have to be the agressor in the fight to attack them in the first place! What are you Eskrima losers training to do, kill someone who is *DEFENDING* themself?

  • i dont practice the old school block of Krav maga i know im gonna get cut if i try that

  • Kali is being used as a the knife style of Krav Maga

  • okay..it is true that the block of krav maga is handy for a eskrima fighter; if he pulls his knife back he will slice the inside of the wrist from the KM fighter. But...the defense shown here is not the whole defense move but just a part. The block is indeed the first move of this KM defense, the second move, that will be even be on the same time as the block, is a strike to the knife attacker's head, troth with a fist, elbow or a kick in the balls. Like this is not a KM defense!

  • Beside that it is not the whole defense move; when a KM blocks like that he is learn to step a side while hitting with the other hand, fist, elbow against the head, troth. So stepping him like that is not part of KM defense. The guy playing KM defender is a real fool. Anyone could take him out; standing still, doesn't counter attacks. ;p

  • Absolutely. this is a load of bull, and if you Eskrima fighters try this on anyone with a BASIC knowledge of KM, you will earn yourslef a trip to the ER, or worse. This is the wrong defence for that particular attack, thus, it fails.

  • Dude, CHILL. Nobody said KM was ineffective. There's no need to bash anyone.

  • ur grip strenth, its caveman training, like the power generated with using a sledghammer against a giant tire,,but with small stick that will still develop grip foreams,,but with more developed angled footwork from works against knife weilding aggressors,or ancient swords,,ESCRIMA WIL GREATLY COMPLIMENT A PURELY EMPTY HAND SYSTEM BECAUSE ESCRIMA IS NOT JUST A WEAPON ART BUT IS ALSO EMPTY HAND FOR DEFENSE

  • practicing with sticks,is great but with medeval knight renaisance era type swords really are heavy and develops forearm and wrist strength, and the stye of movement with the sword develops great footwork movement and use of angles,so translating into empty hand,ur forarms and wrists will be powerful so when u grab for whatever technique plus the footwork movement

  • after the time of swords but as late as 1940s WW2 pacific campagne,Soilders used Bolos not typical WW2 era rifles , modern rural country folks use sticks to disarm folks with knives

  • and don't misunderstand, escrima has allot of footwork and training in various heights. It has just about, everything. The only real problem is that it is not so much for made for self defense as it is made for finishing, as in killing, the opponent quite fast.

  • The KM defense for knifes is an effective way to get yourself killed, I'm not saying that KM is a bad self defense method, but in knife tactics it's terrible. A knife attack is very fast and very violent, you cannot stop such attack in this manner, if you think the escrimista is slow, it's because if he did it fast, you wouldn't be able to make heads of tails of this video and he would hurt the other guy. In Escrima, you don't just learn the knife, but unarmed combat aswell as other weapons.

  • Gm Angel Blancia is the creator of Kung Fu Filipino Martial Art in the Philippines and it was globalize from the whole world introduced by the martial artist of Blancia System around the globe. It is true what GLOBASTIEN said. During the Martial Law and it was Marcos Time. Security and Exchange Commission are got a big deal on that behind the truth about Blancia System.

  • Ha Rules!!! It seems like you krav guys have too many rules that might not be there when you have a real knife from a real knife fighter comming at you. ie...rule #1 "I would block 90Degrees with a devastating disarming blow and kick him in the balls". Please I have seen top krav guys sparring in there class, and it looks just like any other commercial school out there. People tend to move the same when real fist and feet are trying to hurt you.

  • that guy was doin the old school defence

  • the KM defese is wrong, the arm that defends the knife should be in 90 degrees w/ the arm w/ the knife, this way the attacker´s arm cannot slip to the defenders body. The KM guy here, is defending with the arm extended, commom mistake for begginers in KM. Second rule of KM, never stop, one punch after another, after a kick and so on, till the agressor is down. You may go home w/ a scratch in belly, but not dead, in KM that´s what really matters

  • The tactics in this video would work against KM weekend warrior at the Y but not any one with sufficient amount of training. That block for 1 would be a devastating shocking blow that could cause the opponent to drop his knife. He wouldn't have time to "lift" .2 the simultaneous strike wouldn't always be a straight punch. 3. The aggressiveness of a Kravist wouldn't be so choreographed and predictable. Because their are no rules in KM, the violence released on the assailant would be too much

  • this video is a false representation of Krav maga. Don't get me wrong Eskrima folks are amazing with knifes (maybe the best) but that's not how the Krav block works. The krav guy would either block and strike at the same time followed by a low kick to the groin and run (leaving him with at most cut to the arm) Or block and strike at same time and immediately!!! close range by trapping the knife arm and continue striking and disarm. No krav guy would stand still.

  • The video show The KM guy defending and hitting, and the escrima guy attacking and defending too. The two guys now have the legs to workout(*for fast move).

I would say the KM would go faster because in KM have a lot of leg work. That escrima move putting the knife back and then foward is too slow. Remember that KM guy, like the escrima guy, are defending hard. For self-defense trying to use a move with a arm or leg that was defended, you loose time. Like silat, KM is very explosive.

  • that isnt true?

i do it both, escrima and krav maga buth escrima isnt slower than krav maga i think the same speed buth escrima has more choises to make that can be a good or bad thing... thats all on you ;)

    srry for bad english

  • da knife attack

  • Nice moves, krav maga is effective, still I wonder , how do this video is suposed to be related to skrima in any way?

  • Krav Maga adopted it's name in 1948... A style used by the military and police.. It is a mixture of different arts. AKA: Muay Thai..Krabi Krabong.. Escrima.. Judo..Karate...Jujitsu..but all martial arts are linked.. It depends on the teacher who blends the styles and lets them flow from one technique to another

  • It was a demo. Demos are not real fighting.. relax

  • This is an extremely poor demonstration. He's assuming that the student has no other weapon, and will stand there and cooperate with him or will react way too slow.

  • In Krav Maga, after the block, there would've been a kick. He's not giving his student a chance to react or try to stop his method. That's what I like about Krav Maga. They teach you a principle, and the other must do everything he can to stop it. Every 1-2 allows your opponent a reaction. 1-react-2-react-3-react. Besides, that second knife strike wouldn't have been fatal. If it were me, after that second slash, I would've kicked him away, probably too low than necessary.

  • The funniest is that the escrima guy open his legs in front of the KM guy... man.... for a KM expert, if you open the legs like that, in last than a 0.5sec, you will not be able to have kids anymore....

  • Wouldn't work. By the time that Kali dude even thinks of defending, you'd be punched in the face, stunned, and would already be kneed 3-4 times.

  • show a proof dude!!!!!

  • I agree. Krav maga is swift and brutal. This video is a mockery of our fighting system, which teaches us to be swift and brutal. defend, and counterattack simaltaneously, this is Krav maga's first rule.

  • personaly i think when it comes to knives and weapons there is no on style to use alot of it will have to be down to consistant training and quick thinking,id say as long as you disable him if it works use it

  • Is that knife he's holding real?

  • this one of many escrima styles as seen in the films "the hunted" "bourn identity series" and "mission impossible"

  • Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way round or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.

    Bruce Lee

  • thats not the defense against a knife in krav maga, the guy is doing 360 defense wich is against a punch not a knife, with the knife defense the waist is thrusted back and the arm is bent 90 degrees to stop the attack completely.

  • This is a great video, but there's one problem: this is not the Krav maga defence to a straight stab. in the demo, he used a 360 defence for a straight stab. This is bad technique. In REAL Krav magawe step to the side and *twist* the forearm while simaltaneously counterattacking. Try to stab a real KM practioner like this and you will get hurt or worse.

  • yes when you pratice 360° defense it hurts like crazy when attacking without protections, and when the stab is from down to up u bring the waist back for protection and simultaneously attack, also when you train in kapap or other military systems you are taught knife fighting too...so it all ends up on speed and technique...

  • then if that so...show a video that a black belt krav maga practitioner against a moderate practitioner escrimador...or why dont you challenge that escrimador against your best krav maga practitioner

  • I don't think this vid is trying to disrespect Krav Maga, it is just showing the many options open to a kali/escrima/silat knife fighter. The free hand is just as important as the weaponed hand in knife fighting. Being unarmed from any martial arts background and facing a kali knife fighter is going to put you at a disadvantage if you do not get that weapon away from him quick. Blocking him is pointless when he is taught to rotate, pass, turn or drop the blade in a continous motion of attack.

  • both are excellent forms.

    they work so well together
