  • smash it and will work PERFECT comment post by a PROFESSIONAL

  • dont you got warenty? :D

  • try running your finger across the touch buttons, this also switches the laptop on, might just be a faulty button

  • this lap top model was a lemon first year had the mother board replaced burnt out 1 month out of waranty on the second year and it is doing the samething as in your video pissed with hp

  • did you ever find out what was wrong with it?

  • GPU failure

  • Im being serieus, im having one for over 2,5, never had ANY problem with it.

  • Looks like a short circuit that reached the motherboard, basically means u have no computer anymore

  • Mine gone too...(

  • Motherboard is shot. No cheap fix. These computers are pure crap. Mine has been fixed 3 times in less than 2 years. Was under long term warranty.

  • It just happened too my DV9000.. Won't turn on at all. HP you suck. I will go for Asus or Acer.

  • @CleanAteist But they gave me a good install disc for Windows XP when I had my Compaq Presario laptop! The only thing HP did good to me.

  • these are the AMD + Nvidia graphics. Bad motherboards, first would lose the wireless, then cease to show anything on the screen when powered up. The motherboards have faulty chipsets. They are under a recall which ended March of last year.. I was lucky enough to get a dv2000 off ebay non working and was able to send it in, hp fix it and i get it back and sell it.. the dv 2000, 6000, and 9000 were affected. the motherboards from hp cost about 400$ or so.... for that its not worth fixing.

  • Win 7 x86 runs better than x64 IMHO, because for some reason the x86 Win 7 loads the HP drivers for the Media Smart and the HP Buttons and x64 Win 7 does not. and the performance rating is higher than on the x64 Win 7.

  • I have had a dv9730 for almost 2 years. It has an Intel T5450 CPU, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS video. I upgraded the ram to 4 gb, replaced the original primary 160gb drive to a 500gb, left the 160 secondary drive in, and have run Win 7 x86 and x64 on it. I've never had one hardware problem.

  • I have had a DV9730 for about 18 months, I upped it to 4 gb ram, installed a 500gb primary drive, left the original160gb secondary drive, and installed Win 7. I've never had problem one with this machine. It runs great.

  • hey its your battery take the battery off and plug the cord in if it works than you know your battery isn't holding a charge i have the same laptop bum mines the dv6000 it should work fine if it does go by a new battery

  • Its the battery that doesnt work anymore, it burned down - dont you have Insurance

  • My Gril has the exact same LapTop same thing was happening . She was tired of trying to figure out whatthe Problem was. We Paid $250 to HP free shipping bothways. It is the Motherboard. She got it back with a 90day warranty. And Still no Problems works Great. Its worth it if. by the time you search around trying to figure out whats wrong it could have been dont by now. Works Great Hope this Helps.

  • My DV 9000 is having the same issue. Would you mind specifing the cause of it? is it the mainboard, a specific part of the mainboard, the Power plug of the Notebook or something desoldered?

  • I hate that fucking pc i have it over 1 1/2 years now the ventilator is fucking broken the pc crashes a lot of time it sucks DONT BUY HP buy a mac or something

  • Yo bro' , I like the show .

You need a man that's in the know - woah.

The charge socket is lighting 'cos your wall wart is workin' - but the HP aint working 'cos you keep on jerkin'.

Around with that that laptop , go - comb your flat top.

Yo man - save your money , get a laptop that's not phoney.

Spend a good lump of cash and buy a laptop that just don't crash.

    Yeah !!!

    Word.

    Innit geezer!

  • its the button, if it were anything else, "something" would happen.

  • parcel guru now has a permanent fix for this gpu problem

  • Well dude if there were a HD prob it would of turned on ok. second the power button is broke

  • Try my copper shim to keep your gpu temp 15% cooler. Search for dv9000 copper shim on ebay, comes with free thermal paste for only $7.

  • I've tried all kinds of fixes and workarounds for this... starting with juggling ram sticks, removing wireless card, reinserting hard drive, trying to botto up with different screen angles, cleaning fans, removing static charge, removing battery, and what not. The problem suddenly started, the blue lights (power and keyboard) would turn on for a bit and then turn off. You won't believe what finally worked for me. I pressed the power button and hit the keyboard with my fist as hard as i could.

  • @thisissarcastic lol man that shit work thx bro omg that shit work hey guy just do what we do hold down the power button and fucking hit the keyboard as hard as u can lol cant beleive it awsome

  • I have thea solution !

After I tried many things to solve this problem I finally know how to solve it.

    There are 2 options :

    1. (BEST SOLUTION) Hold "fn" button and press "F4" key/button. (Fn + F4) -Let the PC power up and wait few seconds until the windows comes up, ( Wait tell the windows is logged in - in case of one user just wait 60 seconds ). -Press fn with F4 keys on the keyboard and the Screen will show up !! Done !

  • @MyUserInUtube i tired your idea nope didnt work the guy above work 4 me maybe sometime stoneage is the way 2 go

  • 2. REMOVE BATTERY -Shutdown the PC, by holding the power button for 10 seconds. -Then remove the battery and replace it back. -Turn on the PC and now the screen will show up.

  • same problem i had sep they wanted 700$ to fix i can fix it myself it rilly ant hard to fix buy a mb off ebay much cheeper

  • all hp laptop have a problem with a chip set burn out problem. u need to order the chip set tht wut happend to mine so ya get it a try

  • Youre Problem is In little Chip inside the laptop Called " MAXIM" Chip! It is the brain of POWERPLUG!" If you open and close the laptop it deforms a litlebit . And the chips connections come open! Its very small chip! You cant fix it ,but it is possible to fix it!

  • HP diagnosed by phone the mb was fried. They wanted $380 to fix this 15 month old laptop. I worked with a case manager and they agreed to fix it for $280. I declined and bought a new one. Like you've heard, it's a well documented problem with these but HP won't stand behind their stuff!

  • When you press power, do the blue lights light up for just a second and go right out?

  • WHen i press the power button, the blue lights turn on and 2 seconds later it turns off, wtf is the problem?.

  • @getatmyvidz Yep! Exact same problem we have. Any solution yet??

  • @Grantalonus Yep! Same problem we've got... any fix yet?

  • i have this lap top works great

  • @Kaeden728 just you wait

  • did u try hooking up to the monitor? sometimes that works. It might also be your display, does it make any sound when you press the power button.

  • I want to drop-kick mine out the front door on to the road get my car run over it and reverse back over it. find a log trimmer and chuck it in that and burn the trimmings.

    Never touch a HP laptop!!!!

  • Its your motherboard. The DV9000/DV6000 series notebooks are horrible. They run extremely hot and as a result the video card/motherboards burn out. The screen hinges also tend to crack and break as well. These laptops look great and perform pretty well, but theyre built like crap. I have a DV9000 series notebook and it has had the motherboard replaced 3 times and the screen hinge replaced twice. Motherboard replacement isnt too difficult, and if u have it repaired make sure u get a cooler.

  • i have a werid problem with the fan at some times it makes a loud kinda of noise

  • u sound like ur gonna cry

  • Remove the battery pack, plug the AC power, maintain the power button "on" during at least one minute. If your PC doesn't start there is a probability for the mother board to de dammaged. Many owners of these models DV9000 and DV6000 have serious problems : broken hinges, Nvidia GPU, WiFi board, fan, webcam, etc...Try to change the MB by yourself it is not very difficult and you will find a lot of tutorials on Youtube to help you.

  • Let's see, my DV 9000 laptop's webcam did not work, then after a while my screen went black! Lucky I had baught a wannty extention for 3 yrs. I had the laptop pepaired by Blue raven Feb 2009. They replaced the LGB??? It was then about 5 months my wifi went out and then in Dec the computer is dead again! Black screen of death junk.... What do I do?

  • I'm using it for over a year now and haven't got one problem. I can see you don't handle the machine with much care, so start with handling your gadgets more carefull.

Never but never press on the screen to open it and always use two hands. No problem to me, because it's a big ass machine.

The next thing is to never open it yourself, but just send it back to HP.

  • Sadly, it's not mines. And it turned out it was something with the motherboard which other people had complained about on some website we found.

  • Does the machine turn off by itself when it gets a little warm after using several programs during 4 fulltime downloads and playing games?

  • As I stated in the video, it don't turn on at all. But as i said in the comment, it's getting fixed/replaced for free.

  • @TheOutsanityDotCom Yo Brother... my mother is having the same problem with her pavilion dv9000. Could you tell me this website you went to. Thanks

  • @steveoinflorida Well, we found out something did burn out so we took it to MicroCenter.

  • @TheOutsanityDotCom I have a similar problem w/ the hp laptop. I am told it is the internal video graphics card. Cost to repair-$200

  • @TheDutchways

NO no no no ..... this laptop had many problems..

    like the gpu

  • Did You Try The Battery?

  • Of course, because that must be the solution.

  • Okay

  • if you want to you could send it to me and ill fix it for the low low. $20 for looking @ it. and depending on the what the problem is ill charge you acourrdingly. nothing like $300 fuckin dollars. i just wanna help because i have that same laptop and if anything on mines goes wrong i wanna know how to fix it.peace

  • Its got a bad IC Chip on the motherboard, which will cause the unit to power on. I've seen several DV9000's, DV6000's, dv2000's with the same issue. Its the same IC chip on all the motherboards. Usually if it had a bad GPU it would power on, but would show no video. The motherboards needs to be replaced, or need to send it out and have the motherboard fixed. Cheaper to order a new board off of ebay.

  • You,re GPU chip has seperated from the motherboard and needs to be reflowed and that will fix it.

  • the light on the side is just cos the power cord is in and the power is going straight to it. i think its fried and even if you sent it to HP they would prob just replace it with another laptop. but to be honest i have the same laptop and if you search the net on it as i have there are so many problems with them you might want to put that money towards another different one. this is what i plan to do when mine breaks as im sure it will.

  • If it would be the hard drive, the computer would start up but it would stop and say something like "boot error" or "hard drive error".

This is something worse than the hard drive.

I think your mom shoud send it to HP

  • The only way to fix that, would be to send it into HP. By opening it up when you don't know exactly what's wrong, you could cause more damage. It's not a HDD failure as it would turn on and say it doesn't detect an HDD or OS. The power cord is obviously fine as the light on the side is on when it's plugged in. Sorry man, looks like you're gonna have to pay up.
