so what if your here because of noel galagher or ya were listenin to this before everyone seems to be a fan so stop bringin your negativity and juvinile squables here and just enjoy the music
First time of listening I like it.....(Massive Oasis fan) i can see why Noel Gallagher likes it very 60,s phsycadelic stuff Lennon,ie Strawberry fields, nice.
it does,nt matter who was first or why you listen, the point is to listen and change... not to think your special cos you' discovered the music before anyone else... if thats how you think you,ve missed the point of the message.... anyway JESUS is LORD :0)
@karaloca Take the time to make some sense Of what you want to say And cast your words away upon the waves Sail them home with acquiesce On a ship of hope today And as they land upon the shore Tell them not to fear no more Say it loud and sing it proud today And then dance if you want to dance Please brother take a chance You know they're gonna go Which way they wanna go All we know is that we don't know How it's gonna be Please brother let it be Life on the other hand won't make us understand
@karaloca We're all part of the Masterplan... Say it loud and sing it proud today... I'm not saying right is wrong It's up to us to make The best of all the things that come our way Coz everything that's been has past The answer's in the looking glass There's four and twenty million doors On life's endless corridor Say it loud and sing it proud and they... Will dance if they want to dance Please brother take a chance You know they're gonna go Which way they wanna go
great stuff... noel needs to spread his wings and fly with these guys occaisionaly,
infact after this years v fest letdown[ for others] i know i won't support oasis by going to see them, shame i'd never seen oasis, loved 'em in the early years too, noel mate , your fans really should come first, sorry! Unlike AA who have another new fan, and hopefully i will see again soon :))
Every single thing FSOL and AA put out is freakin' GENIUS ... but this album is an exception ... Is the closest experience to LSD you could ever come across through music ... simply mindblowingly brilliant !!!!!
I have always loved this band of innovators but i find this new direction the past 8 years as completely brilliant and even more challenging than their more anbient stuff. Its like the best of 60s pyschedelia modernized for a new century. This is what music can be when it completely ignores trends and goes for the heart.
don't like PROG but keep coming back for more hey ?? .seriously dude I welcome your opinion being diifferent to mine . .free and all that . the world would be a boring place etc etc .I just see a teensy weesy bit of a contradiction in what you r sayin here . .
I think a lot of peeps got stuck in the electronica scene in the 90s and they're welcome to stay there( its there choice) but its a BIG world OUT there and I welcome AA exploring it cos I am TOO . . if u hear Cobain speak he got bored of faceless instrumental music and wanted to try something different . .ALL POWER to him ..it seems to me that dance and electronica died as a revolutionary force . .I'm sure tho when they're ready FSOL will deliver a killer album !!
I never said that they should stick to the old style (which was nebulous and far removed from much of 'the electronica scene of the 90s) and frankly they can do what they like.
However, I don't like prog, and that's entirely my opinion. AA's output in recent years IS prog, multiversity! Gary himself described the Isness as
"expressing some prog rock, psychedelic, hugely produced music," only last year in an interview with the Remix website (Google it).
I'll ask again . .have you actually heard the Peppermint Tree in its entirity ?? the Isness was 2001 !!! this is 2008 . .and I doubt if Cobain would simply describe it as PROG . . I certainly don't think it is . .it straddles every genre . . anyway to denounce PROG is to denounce a major period of great experimental music . .yes there was some tosh but isn't there in any genre ?? Yes I agree they were 'nebulous' from the 90s electronica scene but as I said this is AA and they have many projects
Sorry, I hate 99 per cent of prog and that's that. Get over it man!
Sorry, maaan ;-).
I did like the recent Stakker Humanoid mixes that appeared to be done by FSOL in disguise though so I'm certainly not giving up on them. Each to his own, eh?
OVER IT ?? I don't care whether you like PROG or not . .but to criticise others cos they don't close themselves off to something is what strikes me as funny . . PROG IS VAST BUT YOU DENOUNCE it all and then criticise FSOL for acknowledging that there were some great things that emerged from it . .who got the PROBLEM ?? YOU my maaaan ! YOU !! Genesis/King Crimson/Amoon Duul/Mahavishnu Orch/Aphrodites Child . .go and listen cos thats the problem . .you haven't !!!!! OPEN UP !!
Not liking the direction a band takes is not wrong. Ragging on someone for doing so is illogical. I've never said anyone here is 'wrong' for not sharing my OPINION. I just don't like it myself.
And, I said I liked 1 per cent of prog (early Tangerine Dream mainly). I didn't denounce it all.
oh don't stretch yourself . .I don't care if you like 1 per cent. 1 per cent of what?YOU HEARD IT ALL then . . .EXPERT ?? . .very generous thesis on the history of PROG . PROFESSOR PROG! it seems to me that FSOL are open to exploring everything . . you however criticize from a point of limitation . . I wouldn't want you Dj'in at any party I go to MAAAN . .think it would be pretty dull . .no sexy groovy funky PSYCHEDEDLIC weirdness to make the hips wiggle and the head spin ..PEACE!
Sorry, you haven't heard enough of him or other singer songwriters of his kind to make an informed decision therefore I decry your opinion. Just open up will ya?
ah that's different . you said you hated a genre . . PROG . .if you said you hated FOLK or Punk or electronic I would decry your opinion also cos if you explore there's good experimental shit everywhere . .these genres are just simplifications for idiots . .James Blunt. . .at the moment I've heard about 5 songs and I will only appraise what I've heard to date . . so far 0/5 I like .but never say never !! .so you're still only illustrating how open I am . .the question is YOU ?
James Blunt is HORRIBLY unique . .singers of his KIND ????like who . . . .?? even Damien Rice is unique/different imo. .. you're hanging yourself . . . . .you simplify the world by grouping and seeing things as categories . .I stay open cos then you discover surprising SHIT . .If I believed genre classifications I wouldn't have found FSOL .what are they 'intelligent techno/ambient . . do me a favour !!
People like what they like and generally have narrow tastes partly because they don't have time to spend hours and hours seeking out and listening to music.
I like a lot of stuff actually from (sorry to categorise but there's a word limit on YouTube comments) electronica/downbeat to blues to some country msuic which I grew up listening to.
what . dead u mean ??? no you're right I'm living and breathing . .making the most of it while I can . . trippin on findin great sounds and great peeps and travellin not believin the simplifications made about everything . . genres . yeh but I understand it's an essential tool for narrowing it down . .defo not coming to a downbeat party ha ha !!
well said multiverse .I would say that FSOL simply consider themselves experimental and NOT electronic and the history of experimental music stretches far wider than tangerine dream and brian eno and electronica .hearing their radio shows the AA influences are vast from amon duul/aphrodites child/donovan/pink floyd to ananda shankar/miles davis etc sure there might be a bit of humour ( a good thing ) but its EXOTIC and actually very ORIGINAL . .UNCOOL influences ??? YOU JOKE ME !!
I think its great they've spread their net of influences . .I love their radio shows a real education in across the board sounds . .u obviously like electronic but there's so much music to dig and they are diggin it from Indian to funk to folk . .but they re-construct it in a totally unique way IMO. . . but hell I ain't trying to convert no-one . .U don't like PROG u keep sayin' but this ain't PROG . . !!!! Anyway COOL ain't cool . .I like warm !!
oh goodie another open mind . . .grannycorp you are a book that has already been written if you OPENED UP and actually listened to this album you would hear a band burning the FLAME strongly for invention NOT pissing around . . that these guys can produce some of the best electronic music and now the most forward thinking psych electronic rock shows how great they are . go to fsoldigital and download 5 YES 5 FSOL archive albums then you don't need to criticize them trying new directions

Yes but Tangerine Dream et al were cool and futuristic sounding which is why Lifeforms was good.

@OasisKid99 I've been buying their records since hearing 'Papua New Guinea" in '89.
So I'd love to have said it was the other way around.
Unfortunately I can't escape those two puppet faced wankers no matter how hard I try.
"You gotta roll with it
You gotta take your time
You gotta say what you say
Don't let anybody get in your way
'Cause it's all too much for me to take"
Genius? Fuck off.
