@alevadid; if you really are an M.E. and had used a mac for CAD, then you should realize that mac's are quite capable of handling CAD modeling. The problem is that not much CAD software is available to a mac, they can handle it just fine though. In my engineering classes I've seen many people use bootcamp to run Catia, and it works just as well as it does on any other PC. The mac can even handle rendering and FEA without any problems. So, no, it's not "a fact". Mac's CAN actually handle it fine.

That is the stupidest test ever, You don't specify the processor only that their dual core, you don't specify the other hardware but most importantly you don't specify the hard drive for all we know the mac could have a bloody ssd.
The only reason why macs boot faster is because they dont have to check for different types of hardware that could have been installed like a different video card, motherboard, etc.. Macs have limited hardware support while PC's supports them all. If your going to spend over 1.5g on a laptop or more then it should come with a blue ray player and macs still have no support for them.
macs are made for media type editing/creating. pc is for people who do technical stuff. so what ever CAD is, then yeah pc is for you but if your like me and have more use with media, creating and editing id say mac is for me

I use my iMac for Gaming, Internet, Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, iMovie, GarageBand, Skype, iMovie, Web Design, etc. Hardly just looking cool. If that was the case everyone would just buy the base model. I used a Sony Vaio for about 3 years (until it failed) and the hp after that sucked even worse. Put a $3,800 mac(best mac with out software) to a $3,200 computer with Win7 that i built(to see cost) would compare.

I said that for people who like me run CAD programs like solidworks or catia macs are useless cos their OP is not compatible, as is the case with a lot of other "hardcore" programs. Thus making the costumer description for a mac as I explained above. I would've assumed that it was understood that for those reasons I would be running CAD on my PC!?

@alevadid the point of etting a mac if your going to run windows anyways? you saying that implies that if you install windows on your mac, you're only going to use windows. that's not true in the least. people get macs because of the quality of the machine, the beautiful OS, and the ability to run windows alongside OS X. I use a mac because the applications available for it kick the crap out of their windows counterparts.

@alevadid as for upgradeability, you dont need to upgrade macs as frequently as pcs because of the way the os interacts with the hardware; that is, the hardware doesnt need to be the latest and greatest thing. I have an imac from 2005 that i still use as one of my primary computers, and the only thing i've upgraded is the ram. it still runs perfectly and beats many all-in-one computers that are on the market today.

I use my iMac for Gaming, Internet, Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, iMovie, GarageBand, Skype, iMovie, Web Design, etc. Hardly just looking cool. If that was the case everyone would just buy the base model. I used a Sony Vaio for about 3 years (until it failed) and the hp after that sucked even worse. It’s equivalent to whether or not you prefer vanilla of chocolate.

@alevadid the performance of a computer is not and never was measured only by boot times, but its a damn good example. whilst there is nothing a mac can do that a pc cant, people buy macs for the ease of use and performance and yes the asthetics are nice too. i will always own a pc ( for the price of an entry level pc, why not?) but mac wins for me and my personal uses. also cad for mac works pretty well.

Put a $3,800 mac(best mac with out software) to a $3,200 computer with Win7 that i built(to see cost) would compare.
The Win7 computer had quad 3.8 ghz 16 gb ram 5850 HD gpu,Dual 29" monitor, wirelsss keyboard/mosue, 5.1 Logitec Speakers with money to spare... Would love to see a mac of equal value beat that.

Windows PC can do everything a Mac PC can do and more.
Windows can run programs at faster speeds due to our better parts.
Windows PC people can run any program known, even if it means hacking the shitty OSX(which I know noone who has done it personally but online people have done it just to say they can)

ive had my HP desktop for 5 years and i have never gotten viruses. you really have to be careless with a PC to get a virus. i downloaded AVG free and i never worry about downloading a virus or anything. i love Mac OS X but i dont have that much money to waste on a computer that will eventually crash in a year. And YES Macs DO crash. ive had a few crash while i was using them

me and my brother have the same spec computers, i have a mac he has a pc, mac started in 25 seconds and opened up 40 HD videos and started playing them without glitches, pc started in 2 minutes and 35 seconds and payed 3 hd videos and started gltiching then 10 HD videos and the pc shutdown by itself(CRASH) once you go mac you never go back!!

1. The computer runs everything within its power, the apple does not, infact it mostly just runs a bunch of crap, like itunes.
2. The apple costs an extra 1000-2000
3. the computer is upgradable, the apple is not.

You can upgrade it´s ram. Mac runs games well, many games are just not made compatable with the Mac. It runs music well, editing programs, msn, it´s great with picture apps..You could also say that PCs are for geeky fags that have no taste..It´s not nearly 5 times more expensive due to design, it isn´t even 5 x more expensive in most cases..You just kinda said what I said but switched computer names..Listen, I don´t hate PCs, I just think Mac´s are better and more practicle.

I use Linux, Windows and Mac, but all my other PC systems are horrible, so I'm switching to an iMac. Just buying a Mac doesn't make me a fanboy. I bought it because I need power, something that my PC's lacked, and they required way to much to keep up to date.
So please, stop saying you're a pro and calling all Mac users fanboys, and claiming that every PC is obsolete.
It depends on the hardware and specs of a computer to make it dominant, not just it's OS.

También veo que el XP tiene temas que también ayudaría a que sea más lento, así como antivirus, y muchas otras maricaditas varias que usualmente un Mac no tiene instalado, por esa razón el Apple debería ser muchas más rápido.
