If you're in any of those positions at the end of the season, barring extraordinary circumstances, the team goes down. To get promoted, u have to come first or second in the Championship(League 1 is the third tier of British Football), and the teams placed 3rd-6th enter a playoff to determine the last team that wins promotion.
