no1 shud vote this vid less than 5 stars 1 because its a home vid from 1980. 2 its not from the front row. 3 its the only real vid from 1980 of van halen actually performing id rate this 100 stars
I saw them at the Nassau Coliseum in July of 1980. It was OK; Mike was great, Eddie played great but Dave kept interrupting every friggin song with commentary and some pre-fab quip. It was stagnant.
The remixed version of the album lessens the sledgehammer sound when Eddie first comes in with guitar. The version on the original album is one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
Thumbs down me too if you want but I could do without the gay hip shaking as well! I guess maybe it may have helped some girls put their buts in the seats so then I could forgive it.
Damn, this doesn't even come close to the magic on the studio version. If more people heard Dave's performance on that recording, they would be silenced about the "no talent" accusation. He was astounding on that one.
i have this footage on dvd. parts 1 and 2......the whole 8mm reel. sadly,it's the only 1980 world invasion tour video footage, along with RWTD from holland tv.
This was always one of my favorites! Check out the first solo blast on the original album! Eddie's lead sounds like a drunk guitar drivin' 90 mph--in slow motion... go figure. He's the man! Of course on this clip there is no lead!
FINALLY, VH LIVE IN 1980!! Sure, we'll take even a hand held montage for now!!

Dave was dressing like pro wrestlers before they became real cool in the late 80s/90s
