  • What is the song name what he is singing int the church?

  • @abcdajeans It is called "God rest ye merry gentleman".

  • @abcdajeans "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" It's an old Christmas (<-obviously) hymn; not much sung today unfortunately. :/

  • I love Patrick Stewart, and I love Star Trek TNG, however with that being said, I have to admit I like the A. Sim version much better. Sim WAS Scrooge. Oh, and I can't wait to watch 'The Captains', with William Shatner, should be great. Beam me up...

  • Yep he clearly smoked somethignt that day...

  • It is definitely the best if ur in the uk it's not on tv despite being MADE by channel4 uk. In the USA I believe it was aired on TNT movies Friday night yesterday

  • The best version of Christmas Carol I had ever seen!!!!!!!!! all my family likes it (we are sort of 18 cousins in total) XD

  • I really wanted to watch this today by far the best version it's not on tv and I can't find it anywhere on dvd :(

  • @RKZMUSIC1 Try Play dot com. It should be there

  • I absolutely love it when scrooge is presented as a character to be pitied. It's good to see that people like him aren't just grumps but may have lost something in their pasts to make them lose faith in other people and themselves. George C. scott and Patrick stewart do that best of any scrooges I think, especially stewart's reaction when he watches his old lover leave and he yells at his younger self for not going after her.

  • I sure hope people realize Patrick Stewart existed before Star Trek, a great Shakespearean actor

  • God bless Tiny Tim .

  • I've always loved A Christmas Carol through the years in all it's forms. But I have to admit that this version with Patrick Stewart from Star Trek: The Next Generation has definitely become a favorite version as well. There are many actors who have filled the shoes of E. Scrooge over the years. But I have to admit that Patrick is definitely one of my all time favorites. I only wish I could have seen him do it live on stage as a "one man show." I'm sure it was FABULOUS!!!

  • @QuolaFan1 i agree this version seems more natural and and believable.

  • holodeck?

  • @nimrod4017:

Yeah, but from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation.'

  • is that the dude from Star Trek

  • This is really good!

My second favorite version of A Christmas Carol!

  • *couples

  • Honestly My Favorite version of A Christmas Carol ever

  • Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

  • What I really like about this version is that the the makers really paid attention to small details. For example, the people Scrooge greets on the street respond with a certain amount of bewilderment, as this is not the cold-hearted Scrooge they have come to know. Also, Scrooge really doesn't know how to behave at first (he forgets that he is supposed to remove his hat in church, for example), but he gets better at being amiable as the day wears on.

  • It was rather disconcerting seeing Scrooge bald as a cue ball. He should've worn a shaggy white fringe to better look the character.

  • @Nefarioso

Yeah but everyone knows Patrick Stewart is bald. Besides, the baldness gives Scrooge an air of austerity.

  • This is what happens when Charles Xavier forgets to take his pills. XD And to those who wonders why I can find Christianity to be ridiculous - just listen to the lyrics of that awful song they play in the church here. :P lol

  • @kurvos I think there are but a few of us who does not find ridicule in most obsessions, religions and ideologies.

However, I also believe that there is a lot to be preserved, valued and considered in the same. Thereby not saying that all good things are the result of religion or obsession.

All in all, Christmas is a contemporary phenomenon with Christian roots, often grown on heathen soil and watered by cultural influences.

Whatever holiday you celebrate, or don't, have a merry one!

  • @Wyndsang I actually do celebrate Christmas - but I do it because it's a family tradition, and I care and love for my family. And thank you. Same to you. :D

  • @kurvos What's ridiculous about God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen? Such a great carol - always gets my in the festive mood. You probably have two dads.

  • @jennieWren01 wow really? that last part was completely uncalled for. everyone has a right to their own opinion. and what if he does have two dads? who cares. that has nothing to do with anything. studies have prooven people raised by same sex cuoples turn out just as well set as those who have both male and female parents. leave your childish comments to yourself.

  • @JeremiahReaperShadow I refute all those studies on the basis of the fact this person does not like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

  • @jennieWren01 So you don't think it's ridiculous you're trying to make fun of me because of your immature homophobia, you prick?

  • @kurvos No, rather because of your appalling opinions about carols. I personally think the lyrics are superb.

  • @jennieWren01 first off, everyone has their own opinions. and they have a right to those opinions. so why don't you take your hateful drama somewhere else and just watch the damn clip and enjoy it. for crying out loud we are not in elementary school.

  • @JeremiahReaperShadow Firstly, I don't know what Elementary School is - do you learn carols there? And secondly, their opinion is objectively wrong. Slating God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is like saying that God exists or that women should have the vote.

  • @kurvos Also I feel I should point out that the noun denoting a homophobic person is not 'a homophobia'.

  • @jennieWren01 I did not say you are a homophobia, you moron. Of course I would say you're a homophopic. I said you HAVE homophobia. And since you ARE a homophobe, the rest is freakin' irrelevant. No decent human being is a homophobe - especially not in our modern times. It's immature and stupid to be a homophobe.

  • @kurvos No decent human being doesn't like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. It's a classic!

  • @kurvos Being homophobic has nothing to do with 'not being a decent human being', it has to do with the ideas we take in from our environment. Since it's Christmas time, lets look at Christianity. It has plagued our society with bad ideas, one of those ideas being the belief that homosexuality is a 'sin'. Many, if not most people, are homophobic because they are products of their environment. Bad ideas create bad behavior. And with that, 'happy note'... Merry Christmas.

  • What is funny about this is it looks like Captain Picard in a holodeck fantasy. I would have liked to have seen Star Trek TNG Christmas Carol. It could have had Captain Picard as Scrooge and Q as the one who warns him of the three spirits -- played by Dr. Crusher, Guinan, and Data.

  • @MichaelBrookham I have to admit, that would have been a terrific idea for the Next Generation cast. Q would have made a terrific addition to the story.

  • To think I'll be playing scrooge in the play version of a Christmas Carol; I hope I actually do well.

  • My fav version. such a great actor.

  • Damn Picard, get off the holodeck.

  • @adam307 too funny!

  • i know there are many great versions out there, but i have to say, this one with Patrick Stewart has always been my most favorite of all followed by Scrooged with Bill Murray...

  • was this version a musical or non im thinking about buying but i dont care much for musicals

  • Patrick Stewart is an extrodinary actor.

  • i wish someone would post a video of scrooges hilarious heart attack looking laughing fit he has when he is "redeemed". funniest thing ever!

  • Captain Picard- er I mean Patrick Stewart, is an unbelievable actor. He is so flexible that I don't think we'll see the like ever again.

  • What is this song, that they sing in the church?

  • @angela7477 "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

  • @GregInCalifornia Thank you!

  • I really think that the role of Scrooge must be a fine meaty role for most actors, perhaps just as challenging as Hamlet. To be able to do the change in personality at the end and to do it convincingly is always a treat to see. I loved George C. Scott, Aleister Sim, and even Michael Caine ( in the Muppets version ) as Scrooge. Patrick Stewart does not disappoint.

  • My favourite version. Patrick Stewart is great!

  • I do love this one! I also love the one with George C. Scott from '84. Patrick Stewart and George C. Scott are both great actors

  • Holodeck is really gettin better...

  • "merry christmas to you"

    "merry christmas to you"

*meets will wheaton in this movie*

    will: merry chr-

    patrick: shut up wessly

  • this movie always makes me happy even all the remakes.

  • can't see PS as Scrooge. Not "craggy" enough and way good looking.

  • I wish it was Christmas so I could watch this again, nothing beats hearing Patrick Stewart's sweet, innocent voice on Christmas Eve.

  • @deak06 sweet innocent voice??? guy sounds like a pirate!

  • lol he didn't stay in church for the whole song

  • Isn't that profesor Xavier?

  • @DarknessMaster55 More like Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

  • 92 christians and 1 taliban.

  • Patric Stewart was epic in this movie, with out a doubt, it was my favorit Christmas Charol movie.

  • I saw his one-man show for "Christmas Carol" on Broadway back in the early 90's; amazing is all I can say about the man and his acting!!!

  • Patrick Stewart is the best scrooge ever. I love this man.

  • @rhylast Don`t dismiss the George C. Scott interpretation of "Scrooge" a 1984 gem

  • Alastair Sim is probably my favorite Scrooge although Stewart is good in the part,

Didn't Stewart do a memorable one man reading of A Christmas Carol on stage some years before this TV version of A Christmas Carol?

  • its too bad the third ghost is so stupid

  • best version!

    Doesnt like the others.

  • I'm watching this now on channel 5, this is the best version along with the muppet version!!

  • @funnydanny92

I'm watching it too! Trying to find a clip on here of him laughing! Did you see it, about ten minutes ago? After the ghost of Christmas Yet To Come has left? Lol :)

  • Deffinetly the best version!

  • hey, that's captain picard

  • Finney above all others for me.

  • great film. not as good as the albert finney musical version though. but still, very good.

  • A true demonstration of redemption in all of literature!

  • This is by far the best version of the movie. I watched 4 of them..... this is by far far far far ........ Patrick Stewart is the best.

  • @divineplusplus I totally agree and I've seen not 4, but about 11 versions including 3 cartoons, 2 musicals and a Muppet version. Muppet version and this here are the best. I haven''t seen 2009 version with Jim Carey yet, but having seen the trailer, I imagine it must be good, but no better than 1999 Hallmark version with Patrick Stewart.

  • There all good, but my favorite was the George C. Scott version.

  • Alastair Sim! Alastair Sim! Alastair Sim! The best scrooge by miles.

  • I really love Stewarts Portrayal as Ebenezer.

  • @randomdave30 You dare challenge Picard, he fought 2 klingons bare handed, and save the federation from the Borg multipy times

  • @Tacom4ster Yes, but that's only in the land of make-believe

  • @randomdave30 Actually he's an accomplished Shakespearean actor. Though my favorite movie he stared in was The Canterville Ghost.

  • @TekelBrighteyes He is still a crashing bore. There's no sincerity or depth about any of his performances - it's all deep-voice and well-rounded vowels.

  • @randomdave30 He is not a bad actor at all. He did alot of good stuff before he became typecast by doing that sciffy TV show. Doing Galaxy Quest is like trading your acting career for a regular pay check and endless convention appearances. It is a testament to his acting ability that he can get a role in a film that isn't a B-movie after doing Galaxy Quest... oh, sorry, I mean Star Trek.

  • In this version of "A Christmas Carol", Scrooge uses a temporal anomaly to travel back in time to save his wife, thus preventing him from becoming a prick.

  • @wiseman2024 Come to think of it, Scrooge was taken through temporal anomalies, wasn't he?

  • didn't know there was a version with patrich stewart..my favorite one is the george c scott version..but i'll gonna buy this version aswell...love these christmas movies:-)

  • I LOVE 19th century England

  • I loved this version of "A christmas carol" it was excellent.

  • Patrick Stewart makes him hot <3

  • whats is a title song in 0.28?

  • @Wofuzo Its the God rest Ye merry Gentlemen.

  • It's wonderful to watch as truly talented actors work to completely transform themselves, as to barely be discernibly from who they in fact are. Great performance from a master of the craft!

  • I haven't seen this version, but from this clip his "converted" Scrooge seems kinda creepy still, and his goodness awkward to say the least. I tend to love Stewart, but...

  • I would blame this on the cinematography. It's rather awkward as it really just follows him from behind, ignoring his face when he's supposed to be displaying much more emotion. On another note, I do love the part where the gentleman shares his book with him, that was rather sweet. ^.^

  • this is my favorite movie version, Patrick Stewart rules

  • I didn't care for this version plus I though patrick stewart's performance was very dry.I prefer the one with George C Scott and the musical scrooge.

  • we watched this at school

  • Lovely Patrick! :)

  • What's the name of the song they're singing in church?

  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

  • tidings of comfort and joy

  • This looks like a good movie. I wish someone would postg more of this.

  • @Frank33314

    it is

  • Great adaption. First and only adaption I have seen.

  • @ilovsaw

if you haven't seen the 1951 film, check it out.

its creepy, somewhat funny, and amazing.

  • Cel mai frumos film pe care l`am vazut vreodata...Sigur.

  • I barely remember this- I was looking to see if his one-man show was in vid form anywhere.

Best version ever is the one with George C. Scott!!!

  • One of the best movies i've ever seen. It has everything

  • I wonder if anyone's going to show this version on TV sometime this year? It's about time for the various cable channels to start rolling out their Christmas specials and movies, you know.

  • This song from the church is in all Christmas carol adaptacion.

God rest ye merry gentlemen is the title.

This is the Christmas carol Theme song.

  • Brilliant actor..i saw his one man performance at Santa Barbara University in California. i waited by the back stage door and got his autograph and he and I stood there with no one around but a few others and it was outstanding to stand in his presence ..a kind gentlemen too ...he was.

  • Patrick stewart...simply great!

  • MAKE IT SO, TINY TIM!

  • @tapthatt2012 rofl

  • The best version in my opinion. Patrick Stewart is such a fantastic actor.

  • @NJB74656 yer this one and the muppets christmas carol are the best adaptations. Michael Caine and Patrick stewart are great actors

  • @NJB74656 alastair sim and the muppets, are the best versions. but this one is particularly (however you spell it) good. because this one is most like the book

  • @NJB74656 I agree!!

  • @NJB74656

This is definitely my favorite version of A Christmas Carol. Patrick Stewart makes a fantastic Scrooge!

  • @NJB74656 :

dude, he can pass as almost every character ever made

  • @CryoKatana97 that's because he's the real Xavier, the real professor X

  • swfandani you are right!

the best scrooge ever is Sir Michael Cane!

  • It's a toss-up between Michael Caine and Patrick Stewart in my book. Both were great. But I also have to give a nod to Kelsey Grammer for his portrayal in A Christmas Carol: The Musical.

  • Addendum: Can't deny George C. Scott's performance, either.

  • kelsey grammer? as in sideshow bob from the simpsons?

  • The very same. I watched A Christmas Carol: The Musical early Christmas morning 2007 or 2006, I don't remember which, and I liked how he played Scrooge.

  • i didnt know he played in a christmas carol musical! heck i didnt know he can sing.

  • I didn't either til I found out he was going to play Scrooge. I imagine it's similar to other famous actors and actresses training to sing well when they go for parts in stage or screen musicals.

  • Oh, right! The NBC one where Jason Alexander played Marley!

  • Yup, and they're showing that version on the Hallmark Channel Tuesday afternoon (12/15) at 4.

  • Pity I don't have cable.

  • Pity. Word in the comments on other videos is that the DVD of A Christmas Carol: The Musical can be found on Amazon for roughly $10, if that.

  • @GenghisKhan44

its out on DVD. check it out.

  • Stewart is simply the best!

  • I watch christmas arol every year and every year is a different version, but Partick Stewarts is the best ive seen yet by far:)

  • As far as I know, this version on every Christmas Eve

  • can u tell me where i can watch the trailer for this 1? (The older 1 with Patrick Stewart)

  • this one and Miracle on 34th street are the best christmas movie ever made..

  • dont forget the 1970 musical... THATS even better then the sound of music

  • As crazy as it sounds Brent Spiner would have been a great ghost of Christmas past.

  • his one man show of the xmas carol was the best ever production.

  • This is the second Scrooge!

The best Scrooge is Michael Cane from the Muppet Christmas carol.

    Merry Christmas and a Bah,humbug!:)

  • best scrooge ever

  • Yeah, that's right!!! I don't know if Jim Carrey will do it better in the upcoming version...

  • jim carrey is awesome !!!

saw it at the premiere last night he is immense in it :)

  • is he better than patrict stewart.

  • The only thing I thought was missing from this was from in the book where he meets the 2 people from charity again and donates money.

  • He was visit by 3 ghosts

A Klingon, An Android, and a Betazoid

  • He iz such a good actor.

  • x) Engage X-Mas! make it so number one.

imagine the captain Kirk version of scrooge, he would be Karate chopping and judo throwing everyone in the first scenes.

    Merry X-Mas all x)

  • This was on earlier.

  • i love this film, i have to watch it every year lol

  • By far, Patrick Stewart portrayed Scrooge's roll to a T. That's why I believe that the TNT version of "A Christmas Carol" is the best out of them all.

  • Second that.

  • It's a very fine production and performance indeed.

  • I agree. Especially after I watched a couple older versions this year, Patrick really stands out as the best. My ONLY gripe with the TNT version is the "Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come". It looks really cheesy. Other than that, it's the best one.

  • in this version of the movie, the sister is called Fran in all the others its Fan. and in the 1938 movie bob loses his job for throwing a snowball at scrooge, he does not in the rest.

what's up with the change of the sister's name?

  • Actually her name is Fran not Fan in the 1970 musical version starring Albert Finney. I have no idea why they chose to make this change in either version.

  • wow, i forgot i replied a year ago. I actually got to talk to someone who put the book version on line. He told that Fan and Fran are the same kind of names that is why they used it. Fannie is supposed to be short for Frances as in Fran.
