@dthe1o i used to think this way but then i discovered that after a couple of years, you encounter massive limitations with these mij, mik, mic's etcs. MIA's will keep you going forever.

Bottom line: If you want to progress as a musician, you need a good instrument (and an MIJ isn't one)

@JohnnyFriendly the new ones (built in the factory in tokai) are not quite as good as an american one fair enough. but i have a 62 ri from 1984 made in fujigen and it is sure better sounding and more lovely to play than a new american standard.

@JohnnyFriendly oh really well i have 2 MIJ one for the 80s the other from the 90s, they are built well and have lasted forever. So i disagree with u. Ive had more issues with american strats then mij.

@VHT418 I dont think that neccessarily refects well on MIJs though. That's more an indicator of how poor US guitar manufacturing was during the '80s.

@JohnnyFriendly Ehh, I don't know about that. I have a Fender made MIJ jackson Soloist, and the thing's been through hell and back. Never gave me any problems. You ever check out ESP or their sister company, Edwards? They make fine guitars, and it's all MIJ. I have a couple MIA guitars as well(Ovations, Gibsons, fender, etc) and I agree the quality is better, but you can't really knock the MIJ stuff either. Quality control has come a long way for Japanese products.

@ChiliPeppersAreBoss If you really wanna cop the chili pepper sound I think John's most used guitar would be an all maple neck strat. The tone's a little brighter than that of a rosewood fretboard and the action on them feel lower in my opinion.

I`ve got one for about 5-6 years . Ordered it new and refretted it ( the same week) with jumbo`s and still love it. Very few guitars stay with me for more than a few months. So it must be good. It can sound even better than on this film. Just plug it into a Victoria Golden Melody and your heart almost stops.

i tried a bunch of these 62reissues yesterday, one made in japan the others american. all great but what surprised me was the mij played and sounded better than the mia ones in every way.... at almost half the price. Never got how the guys in japan do it
