the adapter is for the tractor unit that you get with some over here and there is a little groove on hook up which the adapter leans into and then the goose neck goes ontop :)
btw, forgot to add, you said something bout how short the ramps were on the FG lowboy, thats the way the American lowboy, as most US lowboys has the short ramps, and plus FG probably didn't have much of a choice to get it licensed from Talbert.
It is a height adapter. Since the hydraulic cylinders do not function, if your truck 5th wheel height is a little low use the adapter to get it off the ground. The REAL trailer would not need that piece. I have seen those in real life and they are for use in height ajustment if you had two different tractors with extreme difference in 5th wheel heights pulling the same trailer. Have seen them used on military lowboys. The neck is not long enough for a jeep just a 4 axle tractor or 2 axle jo jog
