  • ..Songs In Red and Gray was in response to her divorce from Mitchell Froom and plumbed the recesses of an emotional soul; and finally beauty and Crime is in large part a 9/11 tribute and response; she has progressed from an early maturity to a fully realized voice of the human soul and spirit.

  • All her albums are masterpices each in its own way; Suzanne Vega her first was very stripped-down and sublime; Solitude Standing was her foray into a broader audience (Luka) while still maintaining her poetic voice; Days of Open Hand was (I think) a step back from the mainstream spotlight shone on her from Luka to re-examine her musical (and poetic) depths; 99.9F was adding an industrial/techno edge to her songs (inspired I belive from the brilliant DNA toms Diner remix;

  • an absolute cult classic album that takes me back everytime i listen to it

  • Check out the PS22 cover of this song. Ms Vega will love it, I'm sure.

  • im calling to you im even in time

  • Amazing layers & textures on this song.

  • For me Days of Open Hand is the best Suzanne Vega album of all times, thanks for posting.

  • My fave album by Suzanne Vega! Thanks for posting!

  • By far her best album...anyone who turned her off after Solitude Standing just didn't get it

  • Thanks for posting this meaningful song for me and the experience I had with death. Thanks to S. Vega for writing so beautiful songs.

  • This might sound weird, but to me Suzanne Vega's music sounds like a combination of Pink Floyd and 60's protest music like "where have all the flowers gone" but with 80's style synths. I think it's great and her lyrics are so rich!

  • My fave Suzanne Vega album! Great final song from that album, too. Thank you so much for posting.

  • I don't think this is a "weak" song. When I first heard it I had the same vision, of a giant slver space-craft slowly drifting and coming toward Earth. "I'm coming to you, I'll be there in time",as the song says. Maybe that's silly, but I still see it in my mind,

  • my favourite album !!!! thank you .

  • Many people say Suzanne peaked on the 1st and 2nd albums, but I always liked the 3rd more. Amazing songwriting, lots of creative thoughts put into the arrangement and a diversity of topics to be sung on.

One thing that always remained strange to me was that Book of Dreams was, in my opinion, the sole "weak" song on the album, but it was released as a single. To me the rest of the album is a ton better than that song.

  • @AWfan52525

hmm, Book of Dreams is absolutely unbelievable to me... but to each their own

  • @AWfan52525 It was the most ear-catchy song in the album, and the one recalling the title ("pages made of days of open hand"). But, as far as I agree that "Days Of Open Hand" this is maybe Suzanne Vega's finest work so far, and that the rest of the album is so beautiful that "Book Of Dreams" is not among the best in the record, I still think it's a great song. Many so-called singers/songwriters' entire careers today aren't worth that song, in my opinion.

  • This is one of my favorite albums by Suzanne Vega. I would listen to this all the time, when I was younger. Thank you so much for putting this up. I love this song, especially!

  • I would be nice to make a video for this one...

  • Thanks for putting this up! Nice one.
