remember when they played at glenn island casino in pelham on tuesday nights. place was packed and .50 cent drafts in plastic ups. those were the days.
This was what I saw the first time I saw them and I am still impressed all these years later. They had the most talent but Twisted Sister & Zebra were the ones who got the record deals.
One time i said to mark "your drummer is awesome, he sings and plays the drums at the same time " and mark looked at me and said "yeah and he'd play this guitar and that bass also if we let him" They never got along with the huge ego.
HI Dave Mark ,SteveJack and Karen .... It;ss Gary B Bulldog I Misss You alll you were al are great friends..Hope to see Ya 's Again..... Bulldog or GarY t
Unbelievable! The memories of seeing these guys on Long Island in the seventies. Mad Hatter, OBI, Three penny opera. Remember when they blew away Twisted Sister and other lesser bands at a battle of the bands in Commack arena. Loved all they did but I guess thier rendition of "Minstrel in the Gallery" was my favorite and the rare times they did "Won't get fooled again".
Mark is my hero!So thats how you rape a guitar and make it screem without a tremelo bar.I still can`t believe him.25 years after first seeing him at the riseing sun.I remember
when i was a teenager,i could`nt pick up my guitar the next day after watching him.He is that good.
Ohhh My God!!!! I used to see these guys all the time at the SOap Factory! And I used to love this tune, I always thought is was done by another band, One night I asked Mark who does this Song, "it's Ours" I flipped, I used to love the way they openend with Alaska! Man this brought back memeories!!!
Dave,Hope you see this, it;s GaryB. Gary K's friend ... Remember Thanksgiving at your Mom;s and foot ball over the mantle everySunday & The Briarpatch Days?? miss you guys, Say, Say Hi to Karen, Mark and Steve for me.... Missss Ya's Thanx, Gary {Bulldog}
Another AWESOME find. Where did you find this? I used to see them nightly & was very close to Dave - spoke to him last year. This is too cool. Thanks for the amazing memories!
Yes, this is also known as "Pythagoras", Mark Hitt wrote the guitar part, and I think Larry McGowan and Dave Chemela wrote up the other parts.
Unbelieable that I'm seeing this after all these years, gosh what memories! "Speaks" on Long Island was the place I mostly saw them. Best band ever, IMHO!
Thanks for getting these out in the public, been trying to get their old stuff for years!
Thank you NyLawDog- Rat Race Choir is my all time favorite band! I have a few videos, tapes and cds in my collection along with some photos, newspaper articles and tons of stories. I was a groupie and still am!
I can't thank you enough for posting these. It brings back such great memories. Anyone know what happened to the Hurricane Relief DVD Torque was supposed to come out with? I was looking forward to that.
Man, I remember that drum set. If I remember correctly, RRC had a quadraphonic sound system.

Dave Chmela was the bass player. He still has RRC going with new members, as Mark and Steve are now in TorQue, among other things they're doing.

They used to do a Tull, Zep and Who set. I always waited for this tune. They did a great version of The 7 Rays by Utopia as well
