@TOPiViAN While I do agree Battlefield 3 is a good game, don't be hating on COD. COD has always had amazing, action-packed and well written storylines and is a great FPS for people who want to run around in small maps killing people casually. People that like a bit more realism, with vehicles and aircrafts tend to play Battlefield instead, and the battlefield series was always about multiplayer. Both games are good, don't create war between two games.

I'm using a Logitech 3D Pro with the throttle on full and I just feel like the chopper I'm flying isn't moving as fast as yours, it just leaves me open to missile attacks. Any suggestions mate?

@varcynal i consider myself a chopper pilot even when im not in a helicopter, and i find myself flying faster then this. if your having trouble, then you should try a higher sensitivity.

i love the attack chopper but i can't figure the ecm's out. i know you have to use them while being locked on to, but they just seem to be useless unless you can bug out of the area within ten seconds of using them. which isn't the case in 90% of the situations.

@denrightSN You use them not when you're locked on but when the missile has been fired. When you hear the repetitive beeping tone you gotta decide when to drop flares.

@misterbonzai08 I have no idea about Battlefield 3 mods. But I've heard that there won't be any mods available for Battlefield 3 because the new Frostbite 2 engine is too complicated for people to mod. It was said officially by Dice. So....maybe they might change their minds. Unsure at this point

I don't like to use mouse for chopper flying, it gives unrealistick flight control which is when using WASD+arrow keys (or joystick, same thing)

Great inspirational stuff. I loved the gunships in 2142 and want to learn to fly the helis in BF3. A couple questions:

1) Are the flight mechanics in BF3 closer to BFBC2 or BF2 or 2142?

2) What does it mean when the red "ENG RPM" warning flashes?

3) With all the ways you can die now in a heli, what was your average time in flight?

4) What is the single most important thing to stay alive in a heli?

1) The flight mechanics and physics is close to BFBC2, but kinda gives you that more swift/agility feeling where the helicopter feels more easily maneuverable. It also feels much better and realistic and damage towards your helicopter can also impact on the power that can be made from the rotors.

2) ATT ENGINE FIRE RPM means that there is an engine fire due to high damage from external sources. Huge power loss to the engine is experienced when this warning is on.

3) I'm not sure about average flight time, but it varies if you have stealth and/or flares equipped. Stealth and flares can be equipped at the same time, though. All stealth does is it reduces your IR and Radar signature and also makes it much longer for AA missiles to lock on. Flares act as a decoy to incoming IR AA missiles.

4) Well I don't think there is a single most important thing. I'd say flares, but also it's great to never fly still and always be on the lookout!

@drakzin Oh and about 20 seconds after the ATT ENGINE FIRE RPM comes on, your helicopter will slowly loose it's health and eventually causes an engine failure if it gets to 0%. Once the helicopter is 0%, you can't get out either...

So once you get the warning, you should try to eliminate all hostile threats first, then immediately landing for repairs, using a engineer's repair tool.

@drakzin Great vid but sorry I only played operation metro and what do you mean you can have stealth and flares at the same time do you mean the pilot has 1 equiped and the gunner the other 1 or can one person have two at one time if so i hope you can do the same with other vehicle perks.

@jcw1369 In this case i'm only referring to the pilot. They can have three perks. Slot 1 can be equppied with stealth, slot 2 with flares.

@jcw1369 Yes you can, I don't remember all of them but I know you can replace Slot 2 (Flares) with Extinguisher which get's rid of the ATT ENGINE RPM FIRE and gives your helicopter about 30% instant health regeneration. The first slot can be replaced with Autoloader, which reloads your weapons faster. That's all I can remember so far about those two slots.

@Darkviper777 thanks buddy! I use keyboard and mouse. I control the helicopter using the mouse, not arrow keys :) Been a battlefield veteran since BF2. Good piloting experience from there.
