people actually labeled this as black metal, i would consider this album and prometheus more progressive metal than black metal, i would consider stuff like in the nightside eclipse, wrath of the tyrant, and anthems to the welkins at dusk black metal, but thats my opinion.

@FilthyBeava Yeah.Im a brotha from the pj in newyork.Its always been scary to go to certain shows because you dont know if you'll get jumped by neo flopzis.hell.I went to a deicide show once and had to fight.Sucks.Cause i hate rap music.Always did.Death grind black some industrial and genarally dark music moves me.But there are idiots every where you go in life.Im just glad that the metal scene has beem mostly tolerant of my darkere hue.

You know, I listen to Emperor, Mayhem,Darkthrone and Cradle of Filth. But why do you people insult other bands? Cradle of Filth are clearly not posers. I've seen them. They are awesome. Why do you insult Cradle of Filth constantly? I am a black metal guy just like all of you. And I love their music. Not to mention that after the album midian, they became extreme metal rather than black metal. It is sad, because I am one of you but I cannot be against them.

Although they had some Black Metal influence in the earlier records, they're nothing like Darkthrone, Mayhem, Burzum type stuff. Even Paul Allunder stated CoF was never really a Black Metal band.

I'm so sorry that the music started using more than two alternating "epic" chords after that album.

I'm not a big fan of IX Equilibrium, but this song is one of the best from that album, and I find their last album Prometheus to be the best (musically).

Their early stuff is influential, yes, and has its own kind of special power, but it's so musically immature and basic compared to what they finished with.

@xXNickPXx Yeah,it took me a while to like night side.thing is because of the sound quality.most bm bands made me laugh.i kinda got in because live the music made more sense.it wasn't so noisy.while they can do more musically than i can.the screeching just gave me a headache.now panzer division Marduk on the other hand.blew me away.

IX Equilibrium was the opening for the band 'Zyklon'.

Nowadays I don't follow metal in general this much, or not at all. But Emperor will always have my devoted respect till the day I die. - And now that I'm gone lay thorns on my grave.

Man, i love this song, its just so beautiful, but still heavy at the same time, its like heavy classical music, the guitar melodies are sublime and ihsahns vocals are amazing.

i recently bought the live inferno CD/DVD boxset, and ive been listening to the live at wacken version of this song a LOT, i just think its amazing.

To all emperor fans: i HIGHLY recommend the live inferno boxset (if you dont already have it) its fucking brilliant.

Cradle of Filth is a decent band, but if I had to choose out of my own personal preference between the two, I would pick anything by Ihsahn. Who compares music anyways?. Music creates Inspiration, and all these mainstream labels keep people away from listening to some of the greatest music ever created.

Listen for the right reasons and you will see it for what it trully is.
