I have this and many others? I found these in a garage sale? What do I do . It looks to be pretty worn tho. date is clear. what is VBD what did I find omg?
Well I have had one before because 1909 was the year they starting making wheat pennies it was just like the sacagawea dollar people began hording them same in 1959 when ppl thought it was a misprint when the of in US of A wasn't capitalized so people just started buying them becuase they say it as the 1937 3 legged buffalo incident.
@TheHotRod1961 Not a fake; this one is the real deal. The shine is called mint luster and is on all Lincoln Cents when they are minted, from 1909 to present day.
I used to have a 1909-VDB copper penny. It was not minted in San Francisco. As I understand it, the upper case letter which appears directly beneath the date goes like this: S-San Francisco; D-Denver; no letter - Philadelphia. I have to assume that the coin I had was minted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
There were other letters that used to appear on U.S. coins such as the Silver Dollar. They were CC-for Carson City and NO-for New Orleans. There are others, but the names escape me for now.
when did they stop using that design on the back because ive come across quite a few pennies with that design

Too bad all the ones that are left will be rotting away in a penny hoarders closet soon. :(

So in a nutshell ppl horded the 1909 VDB coins and they preserved for a very long time passing from generation to generation.
