i think silva was asked by the ufc to have the fight last longer, if possible. in all of his fights in the ufc, this is the only one to go to the third round. most of em' ended in the first, and only a few made it to the second. if you look at the fight, silva didn't even engage. and when he did, it was effective, but then he'd let up and disengage again. this was never his style in his whole career.

Like you said he's a counter fighter so there was no point of him over-attacking Cote and leaving himself open. Silva is the champ he has no need to over-persue Cote, It's the other way around. But Cote like I predicted started out on the defensive side as well. Silva's stand-up/ground game is superior then Cotes. Silva had both rounds won.

sorry but all this hype around bisping is bs. bisping skill wise does not have a chance against silva. bisping won a controversial unanimous against leben which most people scored as a majority decision at best. and all of bispings fights have been against trashy opponents. lebens been bispings first real test in a long time. let bisping fight franklin or henderson and if he can give a dominating performance then ill believe the hype.

anyone can get 1 lucky punch and win a fight. and a lucky punch doesnt take skill. yea cote couldve beat silva but if your gonna base it solely on skill hell no. if luck went cotes way then yea. but that can be applied to any fighter. even fedor can lose a fight if he gets hit by 1 lucky punch. but that doesnt mean they have more skill. just take gsp vs serra as an example. yea serra got in that one hit which stunned gsp. but gsp showed who has more skill in the rematch and came out on top.

i love how everyone thinks that it was cote that pushed anderson to the third round... which is funny cuz cote called it at the third round and anderson just ran circles around him till then and at the 3rd he came right out into cotes face and started to go after him.. this fight was a true showing of the fact that cote is not even a contender against silva, he never stood a chance

Not too sure but I just highly doubt there would be a rematch between the two. The only reason why Cote even got to fight Silva was because Yushin Okami was injured and they needed an instant replacement.

Maybe not, but Cote held his own for a while, you have to admit. That guy's got a jaw of steel to put up with being pummeled like that all the time. Everyone knows Silva's pound for pound the best. But you never know with an underdog... they can come out of nowhere and kick some ass. I'd be interested in seeing a rematch. I think it could have gone either way.

no, silva had to respect cote's knock out power. He didnt get inside because of it and thats why he danced around so long. He knew he wouldnt strick with cote, which isnt a bad thing at all because cote has a chin and a right hand that could knock anyone out.silva would of won in a decision or cote would of knocked silva out.

Silva was gonna win this any night, he was toying with him and putting on a show for us. Silva looks scary relaxed the way he his in the ring. I'd like to see a fight with him and BJ Penn. But I'm not sure BJ could beat him on the ground or on his feet. One day Silva will lose but that doesn't take away form his greatness, he's toying world class fighters.

i think silva was asked by the ufc to have the fight last longer, if possible. in all of his fights in the ufc, this is the only one to go to the third round. most of em' ended in the first, and only a few made it to the second. if you look at the fight, silva didn't even engage. and when he did, it was effective, but then he'd let up and disengage again. this was never his style in his whole career.

Silva was not running, that's his defensive style and always starts out fights that way. Like you said he's a counter fighter so there was no point of him over-attacking Cote and leaving himself open. Silva is the champ he has no need to over-persue Cote, It's the other way around. But Cote like I predicted started out on the defensive side as well. Silva's stand-up/ground game is superior then Cotes. Silva had both rounds won.

I totally agree... Silva is the better fighter in regards to overall skill and technic. I can't wait for fight two. However, after watching the footage from the fight in slow motion. I think that Patrick suffered from a hairline fracture earlier on in the fight that later shifted.

It's obvious that you are commenting in regards to your favoring Cote for this fight. Normally, Cote is very dominate and forceful at the beginning of a fight. He was cautious because he realized he has to be. But to say Silva danced away is laughable. Please at least be honest when making these comments. I love UFC to me it's the only pure form of fighting left. But take my word for it, when they fight again Silva will punish him because of all the negative comments.

i know that, but this injury happend a year ago, and reinjured it 3 weeks before the fight in training, it takes balls to fight the best with an injury like that...he couldnt lead out like he wanted too...with a guy as fast as silva, its hard to be quick and throw accuracy when you cant lead out...he hung in there after taking anderson's best shots directly on the chin too...hes tough as nails to not even budge from those when everyone he has done that too were KTFO...i give him respect

I had a feeling Cote would fight smart as well and not just attack Silva hoping Silva would attack and he would have an opening for a big punch then if that did not work Cote would try to take it to the ground. But Silva is so elusive in his denfense that it never happened. Unfortunately Cote got hurt when the fight was about to really take off. The first 2 rounds they were both testing the waters. Silva would of came out victorious because of his experience/skills.

sutra, yea cote said he was gonna push it. if u watched the whole fight though, cote didn't check, block, or avoid any of silvas kick in round 1 and round 2. silva basically negated cote's plan by his kicks, and i'm guessing cote didn't have a backup plan. look at round 2, 30 to 50 seconds left. silva gave a hard kick right on cote's injury. in comparison, silva checked all of cote's kicks. that's like askin crocop to kick u for free for 2 full rounds.
