Though I agree with most of this, the reality is that society doesn't know how to change, and will disagree about almost anything good. Until either our planet forces change on people, or something like The Venus Project has been around for 50 - 75 years so people can see the benefits, the best we'll likely get are small groups of us that understand the benefits of a resource based economy.

@koberask - Yes I'm very much aware about environmental influences. In fact I agree with the majority of what Jacque says. Hell, I'm even a member of my local Zeitgeist chapter. Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Most home schoolers use a curriculum taken from existing school systems or a modified version of one. Unschoolers use the child’s curiosity as a basis for lesson plans. For example my 5 yr. old is average in most areas but has an intense interest in human biology. She has several high school level books and films on the subject. My 11 yr. old has no interest in the subject and so knows little of it. Her education is following different lines that appeal to her.

Though I agree with most of this, the reality is that society doesn't know how to change, and will disagree about almost anything good. Until either our planet forces change on people, or something like The Venus Project has been around for 50 - 75 years so people can see the benefits, the best we'll likely get are small groups of us that understand the benefits of a resource based economy.
I disagree with geothermal energy as it tends to have some destructive issues when used on a large scale.

I think he crosses a line speaking as an authority on religion. He has a point, but he's really only talking about those who allow themselves to be brainwashed by dogma - ie the fundamentalists. I look to religions for spiritual guidance sometimes...the christian idea of grace, the muslim idea of surrender, the hindu idea of the god within....religion has helped my spiritual growth. i don't think anything can be categorized as purely negative or purely positive.

Of course, humans design and build the machines at the moment, but there will come a time when the automation loop closes, and machines will design, build and repair each other and themselves. @PastorIblis Did you at least listen to this video presentation? It's a myth that only the monetary system can produce incentive. When you have free time at your home, do you just sit around all day doing nothing? Some people don't. They are people out there that have hobbies: like drawing, writing music, creating, building things, applying problem solving methods to fix things for fun without any monetary gain. The monetary system creates lazy people because most ppl can't stand their jobs.

@koberask - Yes I'm very much aware about environmental influences. In fact I agree with the majority of what Jacque says. Hell, I'm even a member of my local Zeitgeist chapter. However, should the human race deal with a hostile alien force from outer space that wants to eat us for lunch, then a space-age RBE needs to have some kind of answer.

Mr Fresco advocates that there will be no state, so how will there be any diplomacy? Who would act as the diplomat or the ambassador? If there is no military, then who or what would be in charge of those "defenses"?
Secondly, just because a civilization is advanced doesn't mean that it's enlightened. To quote General Omar Nelson Bradley "Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants." I hope that the human race never encounters a hostile alien race but it could happen.

@Skylinesandsunsets The "space age" has been in and gone the next age will be the age of nano the next could be the "star" age refering to interstellar capability. Since production will be adaptable to what ever their is a demand for, military products could be quickly assembled for use in war and would logicly unify the elements of human production to fight these "aliens".

the fproblem with marxism(or venus project, whatever u want to call it) is that the utopia that is preached is never realized, and it's not even close. it sounds great theoretically, but this video still gives no real practical information on how to achieve it's ideal ends.

The venus project is not Marxism. He is not preaching a utopia. He even states that what he is talking about is not perfection.
What he is talking about is logical.
The system we have now is ridiculous. Lets look at Climate Change. Here we have the possibility that the world could end as we know it. Ok, some don't beleive in this. Well, let me just say that doesn't matter for two reasons:

1) Just say there is the very slightest possibility that it is happening, the effects of this would be too great to take the chance.
2) A shift away from buring fossil fuels is a good thing anyway in that it is inefficient and surely damaging to our environment.
So, now..we have this problem/crisis and the wolrd "leaders" aka politician are doing jack shit about it.

Reason are given such as "it will cost too much" this is fucking ridiculous. It will cost too much to save the planet so, we won't nothing about it.
This is a perfect example of why we need to shifto to a resource based society rather than the monetary system that we have now, where evrything is rationed on profitability and not logic. We need some change and we need it RIGHT FUCKING NOW. If you look up the venus project website, it makes perfect sense and can be done right now.

The only thing stopping this is ourselves. Also check out the movie zeitgeist. All the practical information there is to know is that we know this can be achieved, because we KNOW we have enough resources and we know that the world is stifled by greed and power that is held by a tiny minority. So, when people minds such yourself begin changing this kind of thing can be achieved. Its all about reaching people.

@mebe84 the venus project is actually the opposite of marxism. since marx advocated the state (govt) and state control of money (the fed). venus project is close to a modern version of anarchism which is absolute freedom from money and exploition of the state which is only possible through power, and power is from force whether legal or violent.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Most home schoolers use a curriculum taken from existing school systems or a modified version of one. Unschoolers use the child’s curiosity as a basis for lesson plans. For example my 5 yr. old is average in most areas but has an intense interest in human biology. She has several high school level books and films on the subject. My 11 yr. old has no interest in the subject and so knows little of it. Her education is following different lines that appeal to her.
