LOL. It's actually not true at all. There are a lot of false internet rumors about Cookie Monster being forbidden from eating cookies or changing into Vegetable Monster or something. It's all baloney.

They COULD show this if they wanted to. But this, along with the other (literally) thousands of clips they'd built up over 35+ years have recently been retired. They made the decision, for the first time in their 41-year history, to start completely from scratch.

I don't agree. Elmo's been around since 1985. That was long, long before they started altering the show's format and tone. For many years he was just another main character.

It's true that in the late 90s they began to build the changes AROUND Elmo (and later Abby Cadabby), but that was the result of changing educational research.

I used to ask my sister why it is called "Pizza Hut" or "Pizza Delight" if they sell more than just Pizza and she used to tell me that they specialize in selling Pizza. Similar to that, Cookie Monster can eat whatever he wants and still be called "Cookie Monster" because Cookies are his specialty.
