I only recently found out that the name Angie is a pseudonym for heroin, and this song is about Richards' sadly unsuccessful attempt to quit, he says this in his autobiography. And he's the one who wrote the lyrics for this song, along with Jagger, so it's not some interpretation, it's a fact. Turns out this song is much more deeper than just a love song. Even after all those years, this old song managed to impress me once again...

Most of the stuff I llistened to had been recorded before my time, I just listened because it sounded great, not because it had been forced down my throat by MTV or top 40 music. Don't feel bad about some of the current music being bad, there were some fantastic musicians and they started it all. Even todays bands admit how much they loved the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, etc. We'll get better music eventually. Cheers.
