The last 20 people who had their ATM cards skimmed, or their pockets picked, were probably non-Irish on Irish. My contention with these two particular groups is that they are a strain on the system. Gpysys usually don't integrate, or contribute to society. Criminal elements from ANY country are not welcome here by me, and I think all serious criminals should be deported.

People who are here illegally have to go through the prison system when they are caught, so i'd hazard a guess that this would account for some o f those numbers (15% includes central Americans). @djcondra I've got to admit that an argument for immigration control has some merit. Sorting out those already here seems a reasonable response. The problem is the racists that jump on the argument for their own aims. Ireland's worst mistake was to accept the eastern europeans in the way they did (the UK and the Swiss were the only others to do it). This killed off work for the lower classes in a matter of months, and began a race to the bottom for the private sector.

The largest group of immigrants to Ireland in the last 10 years have actually been from white europe. I find it funny that nobody has mentioned this. The last 20 people who had their ATM cards skimmed, or their pockets picked, were probably non-Irish on Irish. My contention with these two particular groups is that they are a strain on the system. @djcondra You didn't say "Non Irish", You actually used the term "foreign national", which along with "non national" are terms generally used to denote those of colour who need visas or asylum (here in Ireland, anyway). People who are here illegally have to go through the prison system when they are caught, so i'd hazard a guess that this would account for some o f those numbers (15% includes central Americans). I find blaming johnny foreigner for the ills of ireland to be pretty weak myself.

The problem is the racists that jump on the argument for their own aims. Ireland's worst mistake was to accept the eastern europeans in the way they did (the UK and the Swiss were the only others to do it). This killed off work for the lower classes in a matter of months, and began a race to the bottom for the private sector.

The largest group of immigrants to Ireland in the last 10 years have actually been from white europe. I find it funny that nobody has mentioned this. The immigration from eastern europe was way more harmful to the job prospects of normal Irish people than that of asylum seekers or economic migrants of a different skin tone.

Also, on the topic of nick griffin, he was banned by college security because there were threats being made to the students, specifically the members of the Phil, the society that invited him. It was not a ploy to stifle free speech, or anything similar that has been suggested. A gang of thugs disrupted a meeting, and threatened that if the debate was to take place, they would bring bus loads of people to the college and cause chaos.
