  • That was very insightful and I didn't even realize something about myself until watching this video, but it's that your always trying to kind of one-up your own ego through certain things, such as fitness, and as soon as you said it I just had it click in my head that that is why I push myself so hard.

  • Dan where is this place located? I want to see it with my own eyes as well!

  • Wonderful and inspiring video!

  • yo dan love the video. the scenery is gorgeous exactly the kind of environment i want to be in

  • wow ,amazing lake and video!

  • awsome video and yes inspirational. i have to ask though where was you at in the video? that place was beautiful

  • I love them winter videos! Hope there'll be more this coming season :)

  • I totally relate! It's important to know there are other people feeling, doing and growing in just the way I am. I've climbed to the top of a mountain w/ no one knowing where i was and no plan - no one i know 'get's that', but you get that don't you. I've come to realize you have to stop striving to grow and just grow, too. And sometimes it's important to realize it's not important to be important all the time. The greatest love is just keeping the people on the same path company. Can ya dig it?

  • Dan on those night hikes have you ever felt like you're being followed, or messed with by a Bigfoot? Looks like perfect country for the creature. And at night that would be freaky! Great video, thanks for sharing.

  • Actually, they WILL write books about you. You are that phenominal.

  • Like it

  • Dan the Mountain man. Who's wearing his sandals in the snow.

  • cool beans friend

  • Wow you are like a soul brother to me Dan. The same i did once too. I don't know why but late at night I just wanted to go out and feel the atmosphere of nature. I walked through a forest and had the same feelings like you....I was so thrilled, a bit scared but also really pumped up! It was great!!! :D

  • You are cool you dont talking shits, you talking about things you understand

    simple

    keep it up

  • I notice you talk about the ego a lot. Are you a fan of Deepak Chopra?

  • Dan, if you understand and embrase the beauty and the intellect of not doing things at the expense of others then you're enlightened. That's the only single differenciating factor. Resolve that and resovle it all.

You and Krista keep having fun. And if I can I would like to dedicate a song to you in regards to our time here. It's from David Matthews called, Stay. Im sure you will understand it.

    Whistle while you work !

  • Keep doing what ur wat ur doing lifegenerator guy...I myself will soon be starting such a positive life style...you have achieved your goal and have inspired another person

  • NICE :)

    and ThankYou

  • I love how you are wearing gloves haha xD

    great vid

  • Dan. How are you not cold??

  • CUZ HES ZEN!! xD

  • I believe the path to enlightenment starts in the most natural place, it starts with fun, with the 5 year old in you that teaches you to play and not take everything to seriously, sounds like you are well on your way Dan the Man.

and when that 5 year old inside you deems you ready, then he will take your hand and walk you to your enlightenment. Till then just play

    Light

    T.

  • That scenery is breathtaking

  • hey dan! i just wanted to tell you that you inspire me SO SO SO much, man! i want to be just like you and eat great raw superfoods and make better choices in my life. i want to turn myself around through meditating more, and LIVING more, just like you said. i know we are very different people, since i'm a 16 year old girl, but you still help me out a lot through your vids. Thanks for being so great!!!

  • dan this one was great! i dig it so much! i love how u said u are competing against yourself when you are out and about! i dig it i dig it i dig it!!!!!!

  • I really love having your energy around, it's like soul food! :D

  • I just needed to re-watch this one for the beautiful end shot. Thanks for sharing your snow!!! LOL on the walking in the dark story. I must have missed it before.

  • You are adorable and yes you are helping people! You are very inspirational. These videos are very good! How could someone not be moved by you and these vids? This is good stuff Dam the man with the master plan! Raw foods low fat are where it's at! Nothing wrong with ego. It keeps you on track! Don't let go of the ego it is sexy!

  • I love the place. I live in bavaria in the mountains. Not the same but much alike! I couldn´t live without nature around me

  • The nature around you rocks. Wish I had mountains where I live.

  • inspirational as ever.. cheers dan. keep em coming.

  • I'm curious...How do you make a living? We all have to pay taxes and pay our overhead. Do you work? What kind of work do you do?

  • Haha man, im just as crazy, ill go out and ski in short sleeve shirt with some pants when its snowing. When used to be unhealthy I always got cold doing that, but after I got completely healthy, its not cold at all as long as I keep my head warm and hands warm..

  • I dig this guy. He could make videos about life, without ever mentioning raw foods. Im not even a raw foodist, but get a lot out of these..

  • Aloha Dan, wow! What an incredible place! Here in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, the days are mostly hot and sunny. We should be getting snow on Mauna Kea very soon, but never anything like where ur at. Mahalo for sharing and all that you do to help educate and inspire us. Ho'opomaika'i/Blessings~Aloha Pumehana

  • fantastic to see another guy shooting from the heart.Blessings x

  • Dan I 've been feeling it too. I think it's just the winter change. It has been challenging for me lately. I'm in NY so I am adjusting to the change. It's nice to hear your thoughts about the physical. I am very physical myself. Thanks so much. Peace :)

  • Thanks for the pan, Dan! awesome location - lucky dog!

  • i take a lot of vitamin d during the winter. it really helps with depression and stuff

  • love love love

  • great vid Dan, I used to go to the forest in the winter, I liked the snow so much, I even meditated a lot it was so cool, after that I kind of stop going. I like your lifestyle.

  • Wow, it snowing Dan! Please wear a coat and boots.

  • how you aint cold Dan, this aint right, you should wear a jacket

  • i think i meant to say..'seeing you go through the ups and downs' lets me know i am not alone when i hit my 'lifes ups and downs'. and its been hitting. thanks for sharing dan. peace and love. stay strong.

  • dan...love all your videos but seeing you speaking candidly about the ups and downs.... (in both this video 'be the best you can be' and the 'take it to the next level') really rocked. i've been going through my own stuff and seeing you going through it but hanging tough inspired me. peace.

  • Why don't you move your rv to a warmer climate this winter. Cold weather is depressing.

  • Brrrr Looks cold. But I have waaaay more snow.

  • The older you get, the less you know is a great quote. as a teenager you think you know 100% of everything. as you get older you realize you don't even know .00000000001% of everything. keep pushing Dan, you're on the right track. but then again, what do I know. :)

  • I'm envious! I want to be in that beautiful mountainous setting right now!

    Peace Dan-the-Man-with-the-Master-Plan!

  • One day at a time my friend... one meal, one moment, one second... all to embrace. You are a machine truckin' it up those snowy mountains. How beautiful. Challenging oneself is a good thing, it proves to us what we are capable of, often things we think we aren't and we have to stop and just do it. Facing fears is awesome, you inspire me to face mine. Fear can really hold us hostage. You really are one of a kind and no matter what the outcome of Best of Raw - you are always a WINNER in my eyes!

  • What happens if you come in contact with a bear while walking a night trail.

  • Your guess is as good as mine, my friend. ;)

  • @liferegenerator > keep going! Endurance will make your mind much stronger and you will have more spirit for sure. i coudl go for a hike for hours. If i didn't have kids, i would do ultra distances. My husband does endurance adn he really gets things done in his life becasue of it. you also think clearly when you go long. Getting in the oxygen. What is better than doing endurance workouts? Being out in Nature is what God intended. it is the only time I pray deeply to God!

  • helping people, those who have their heart in it atleast and Dan it's obvious you do. You are so loveable and so many people here respect you for who you are and everything great that you do. I offically grant you the award for Best Heart of a Lifetime! Chin up buttercup, you got it all in the bag. We are all only human, thank you for sharing your feelings and keeping it real, not sugar coating stuff according to what people want to hear. You say it honestly. 20 oranges & a snow trip is great!

  • Thanks for keeping it real. It's ok to just exist. To be here now without having to do anything at all. I have to remind myself of that from time to time.

  • did you take a dip in that lake?

Would have been awesome, get the heart rate pumping and then take a quick, cool dip.

Really good for exercising the capillaries and nerves of the body.

    Bundle up afterward, though.

    Cheers, nice vid.

  • Great inspirering and motivating video! Thanks Dan! Your Channel helps keeping Focus on what's important!

  • Bro your OK! God Bless you and Krista. Don't be so hard on yourself

  • Sounds like you've been reading some Eckhart Tolle... :-)

  • Such a beautiful setting Dan :)

  • I have experienced that exact same thing when i go on my walks. I tried to explain it to my wife, but she didn't understand, so I'm glad that I am not the only one that experiences that.

My theory is the brain tries to avoid work at all costs. I will usually get a pain in my leg on the way towards the halfway point, as if the brain is coaxing me to quit early. Once I reach the halfway point the consciousness realizes there is nothing to be gained and the pain leaves every time.

    gr8 video

  • How do you stay warm without a jacket?

  • Love!

  • :-)

  • I have known you since July and this is by far your best video. I love you for being magical and happy. I feel very honored to have you as one of my friends. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Wow, that looks like my weather right now. I keep thinking you are out in my back yard and I keep fighting the urge to go and look, LOL.

Speaking of Ego, have you read any Eckhart Tolle?

Yes, dark time (which isnt always night here) has its own magic for sure! I miss the stars and moon during our summers and frequently sleep out under them to make up for the months Ive missed.

Peace my Brother, We are all where we are supposed to be, its All Good!!!

    Luv Ya

  • I too am battling with the ego.

About it being God's 'problem' about what your path should be, the ideas you're getting (the crazy dreams you get) maybe that IS God's spirit entering you. The spirit mashing with your ego. Maybe the two aren't so separate. I'm going through the same thing :-)

I really appreciate the honesty in your videos and will try to do the same in mine.

  • Dan This Is a Beautiful Video on So Many Levels... Thank You For Sharing Your Journey with Us. Watching this I realize I've been Inside 2 Much...I'm Inspired to go walking in the Rain(-:

  • love your yard................

  • Speaking of walking logging roads in the dark. One of the best spiritual experiences for me was scuba diving at night at 60 feet down in pitch black..........Alone. (I broke a major rule about going alone. But floating on my back at 60 feet in the dark was an incredible experience!!!!

  • Hey Dan, have you gotten into Jiddu Kristamurti and Alan Watts as well?

I agree the ego/self must be reduced esp for the avg American/Westerner

I fought my ego for the past year or so, and realized that it too needs love and one shouldn't destroy it. IHMO training it and then balancing it out with the higher self is optimum

thanks 4 vids always glad to see others are 'awake'

  • Dan, We'll have to go on a hike together sometime. Were in the same area. D

  • dan.... with OUT a plan?

ha ha seems that is the best way at times:) for me i find just BEing in the moment is most comforting... YaY to you, and yes you are inspiring... thanks

  • oh and i remember black bears sniffing me out in my tent in the Adirondack's.. was a bit intimidating

  • Just be yourself...go with the flow...HumanBeingHuman that's my Motto...

  • cool nature

  • You inspired me Dan. Thanks! I voted for you and you are all of those things.

  • i voted for you yesterday!

  • Everyone is Enlightened in a different way. You can love hip hop or heavy metal watch action movies or horror and still love humanity. DO what brings you joy and embrace it.

  • someone once said "If you push to hard, you'll push your self off the edge. Something to think about maybe, I loved your vids, but your vids of late are becoming a bit like david wolfe which is a bad thing IMO. But that I can't change, you are spirtiual which I don't like but it fits you, so more power to you. Just don't let what you do, become you, if you get me. All the best

  • What ever happend to that cave you found. I thought you were going to go back with a light. Anyways I hope 1 day you do w/ a camera again. Keep on Keeping on bro.

  • Maybe you need to get some warmer foot wear and you'll feel better.

  • Dan I wish I was able to go on these amazing adventures with you. I love the country. I use to go hiking growing up and alot of camping. I wish there was more people like you! :-) You are an inspiration Dan.

    Blessings~

  • I can really appreciate this. it went well with my exercise this morning

  • You're on the right track bro ;p

Thanks for sharing, keep it up!

  • Dan the man! Is a compassionate dude, you seem like your another mountain in this video just letting the snow come , and letting the snow go : )

  • Your profile picture looks like Chuck Norris.

  • Wow, lovely scenery! I have never seen snow.

  • Thank you, Dan! Your encouragement everyday is like that beautiful quiet snowfall...peaceful to the soul, gentle to the spirit....but renewing the whole life. Thanks for staying REAL for us all to help us stay true to the goal!

  • Dan, do you think we should supplement ourselves with vitamin D during the winter months?

  • I think people should just eat foods high in vitamin D

  • vitamin D comes mostly from the Sun, not many food has it. Guys there is a great podcast about vit. D. It's a computer security podcast, but if U don't like security just fast forward and listen about D. Google for "security now podcast" and then scroll down to Episode #209 - Vitamin D. Enjoy.

  • I'm not vegan, I'm vegetarian. Mushrooms that are exposed to ultraviolet light have high vitamin D, plus theres lots of fortified products like orange juice & soy milk. In Australia we have high UV levels even when it's overcast, sometimes even higher than when it's sunny.

Plus it's important to be overall nutritionally balanced so that your body is effectively converting inactive D3 from the sun to functional vitamin D via your kideys/liver etc

  • I thought you were vegan? I forget. You're right that fish, fish oil, eggs, salmon, tuna, liver, cheese do have high amounts of vitamin D. I'm not aware of any plants that are high in vitamin D. Vitamin D levels are easily checked in a blood test. I think the average person has like 10-25% of the vitamin D in the winter months as summer months.

Vitamin D strengthens bones, teeth, regulates depression, improves muscles, the immune system, endurance, etc.

Fungi can live without sun, but...

  • you are right, I don't eat "...fish, fish oil, eggs, salmon, tuna, liver, cheese...". and I don't get much from the sun. Only way for me is supplement myself with vit. D pills.

  • Green Sunflower seeds have Vit D. and lots of other vits , especially if you sprout them .

    Go veg.Man!

  • Interesting Motox. Thanks for the tip. I will do some reading on this as even several vegan web sites I have read clearly state vitamin D is not readily available in any plant life. It apparently is proven however that the more chlorophyl one consumes the less vitamin D they seem to need.

I'm becoming more and more a fan of sun related foods and less a fan of nightshade type foods.

  • I was just going to ask you the same thing! I really don't know! Do you feel deficient or what? SAD? :(

    :D

  • Fungi can live without sunlight, but what else can? I think the fact that the sun is key to life, it doesn't surprise me that during the winter months many of us don't feel right (SAD), especially outside of the tropics.

The fact that you don't seem to use any animal products increases your chance of being vitamin D deficient.

Sunlight treats many illnesses including depression. We should all sunbathe nude 5 to 8 minutes on each side, every day. It's hard to do in three feet of snow ;)

  • to green2lean: Dan is topless all summer long he gets vit. D from the Sun enough. We can store vit. D for a long time - it dissolves in our fat. Spend an hour on the podcast I gave U, it's informative podcast from Steve Gibson.

  • Dan and "fat" don't go hand in hand to they? ;) If that man has any fat on him it must be some place I really don't want to know about.

  • watch?v=FlXdegk2icA

  • Thanks Desire, watching it now. It looks like an interesting series of videos.

  • Hi Dan, with as much as I love your vids (I see them daily) your lifestyle would not be satisfying to me. Where are your 3 kids and 8 bags of groceries?

At your age my life was devoted to the service of others. That brings its own hangups, but for me, it is more fulfilling. Living for myself seems shallow.

This is not criticism, just food for thought.

    Love to you and LLK.

P.S. spend more time with your daughters.

  • "P.S. spend more time with your daughters"

well, George Carlin said once "if you want to help your kids - leave them along". I'm watching my 12 year old and can see that George was right. More time I spent with him - more parent pressure I put on him. You have to be close enough, but not abuse them with your "Love".

  • Susan, I love all your points except one thing. It sounds like you're implying Dan is not in the service of others. Do you have any idea what it's like to expose yourself (including honest vulnerabilities) to the world? You take a lot of crap from people and open yourself to the judgment of others. If that's not a service to the world, I don't know what is.

Agreed though, giving to children is amazing. I never had my own but I did teach, coach track, coach swim lessons, etc. - awesome!

  • Thanks D!

  • My ex wife disappeared 4-5 months ago with Katia and Nataya! I have not seen or heard from them since! She took me off their friends lists on face book and removed there accounts on YouTube! She thought Krista was going to be a phase and I would return to her! She has always used the kids as leverage to get me to do what she wants me to do! I try not to think about it too much! Katia and Nataya are my best friends! I just have to keep on keepin on!

  • I'm sorry, Dan. I did not mean to open a wound. We just need to pray the girls back into your life. Your faith is strong and I'll back your prayers. If they are old enough and know you are on youtube, I'll bet they watch their daddy every day. Remember that one old entertainer (George Burns?) who would always end his programs with, "good night Mrs. (name), wherever you are" God bless you and yours.

P.S. I know these vids are a service, I just look at your freedom and think...

  • Whoa, had no clue you were (all) going through such a crazy time. Very sad. Hope she gets her head together ...NOW. Many blessings!!!

  • I know that you care Susan! Thank you for your wisdom, it will always be welcome here! :D

  • Hey Dan,

Love your videos! You're more inspirational than any book I've ever read!

  • enlightenment is finding that what you were searching for the whole time, was always right inside you : )

  • No ego ,,,No problem ,,,The biggest warrior to defeat,,, lies within ourselves , Hey Dan , Thanks for all your Help !! Peace !

  • it has been said that the ego is a good servant but a lousy master. I think you're ego drives you to inspire and encourage people, and you do a good job. Peace.

  • Water fasting can be dangerous if you are mineral deficient...as most people are these days.

  • the snow is so nice, we had a snowstorm last wednesday in canada, it really was beautiful. Love your videos Dan, your always doing something different ! <3333

  • Get that D3!!

  • great words of inspiration and encouragement brotha. beautiful video of lovely outdoor scenery.

  • great Job Dan a big hello from your Fan t 11,400ft up in the Andes where its Summer, all the crops are sporting,,. thanks for your cool videos, nice to see the beautiful fluffy snow of the Rockys,,,

  • Yay...snow !!! I'm grabbbing life like crazy right now. Some things happened in my life a year ago that changed my thinking forever. No seasonal disorder or any crap will get me down again after that experience. sometimes it takes a shocking blow to wake up the spirit. Love and light to you and yours, Misty

  • When you go out in nature it's you and God. I know what you mean by turn back as that little voice I've heard. In the pitch black I've heard the animals rustling about too. The scariest moment was when a group, probably 3 or 4, of coyotes circled me for a long 5 minutes then just as quickly gone, and I could not see them as it was pitch black. The lake view pan is beautiful. It's good to go alone as we need it, but it is good to go in company as well. I find both helpful. Peace.

    God bless

  • SNOW ..real Christmas spirit gee thanks Dan N krista

Joy to the world especially you...

  • TRUE words, thanks

  • I voted for you: )

  • Hey my Brother; I was out walking in the snow covered woods today as well and thought about you and had a chuckle. Things you say resonate with many of us. Sometimes it's better NOT to have a plan and just channel...Ya dig?

  • Dan you are the man!

  • inspired 100%

outstanding or brilliant in a way or to a degree suggestive of divine inspiration

    :)

  • V V V water fasting huh i know to much water is not good for you and could even kill you V V V

  • Put a coat on!!!! lol your like me out here in ny with no coat.

  • I've been doing a water fasting, this is my second day and I'm in pain, I have a fever, migraine, my hands are shacking, shivers and stomach pain, is this normal?

  • obv not... drink some water!

  • If you drank a lot of soda or coffee or tea before the fast yes.You are having withdrals it only lasts a few days.

  • no I drank water 3 days before the fasting, but before that I had a bad diet, some soda not allot

  • I agree grand, but it also depends on the level of caffeine addiction you have. At one point in my life I was drinking columbian coffee all day. I decided to stop and developed migraine type headaches. It took me three weeks to overcome the withdrawal headaches. It can be serious.

  • Whats normal? Everyone reacts differently but you shouldn't go through intolerable suffering . What did you do before and how did you prepare for the fast?If you were on the SAD diet you can easily re-release too much toxins, incompletely digested waste, heavy metals , drugs etc that have been stored dormant in your body for years. This can be dangerous.

  • I was eating healthy 3 days before I started the fasting, but before that, my diet was bad, dairy and carbohydrates... I've drinking allot of water now & I feel better, but it's still early in the day and my goal is to stay on the fasting until tomorrow morning..

  • If you have had a bad diet for years then 3 days on a healthy diet isnt much preperation.Try and stay rested and peacefull but maybe next time try a juice fast/feast first.

  • You are detoxing way too fast. 3 days of healthy eating does not recover from years of SAD. At least back off to a juice feast. Even that might be too much for a first go.

Suddenly dumping toxins and releasing plaque in the blood has killed people. Take is slower; you have nothing to prove to anyone.

  • ok sounds good, I think I'll eat some broccoli and spinach thanks for the comment

  • Agree with people above... take it slow. Eat salad now and you always can come back. When you come back - do several 5-10 short fasts (24 -36 hours long) then if you see it goes for you - do longer fasts. Take it slow but don't stop.

  • thanks I'm eating some tomatos now :) I will defenitly not stop :) this is for life

  • it seems that whenever I decide to turn around and head back to where it's safe, the destination I was seeking was literally around the next bend...

but then, when there is no destination to start with, I enjoy the journey oh so much more =]

  • thanks Brother! Awe-Some I want some more some. ♥

  • Lol, people who claim that they have transcended their egos (and are buddha-like) are pompous asses. Like they're "above it all"...nope, that's not human nature. The road to enlightenment is an unending journey, and you are inspiring us with your down-to-earth humaness. You're cool Dan the Man,...btw, ain't you COLD?! Brrrrrrrrr!!!!

  • That's amazing that you can be out in the snow without a jacket & with sandals on.

Is this something you've always been able to do, or is it a newer aspect associated with going raw?

Also, I just added you as a facebook friend!

  • whooohoo!
