  • What advice do you have for a new skier? I just started at the end of last year and participate in other sports and have been a longtime downhill skier, but decided to improve my overall fitness and am going out for the high school team this upcoming winter. What can I do this summer to improve my fitness and upper body strength? Also, I have a large amount of struggles going uphill, is there anything I can do to improve that aspect of skiing?

    Most xcskiers do a mix of roller skiing, trail running and mountain biking in the summer, supplemented with weights.

    Your best bet may be to join a club program who will have structured training throughout the year.
