This wasn't the pilot, it was the flight attendant sitting in the back of the airplane, the "B" flight attendant. Pilots sometimes tell jokes over the PA, but they don't sing, at least not on SW. :)

lol b4 i got onto my plane i had a salad from one of the restraunts i was going 2 eat on the plane as a joke the pilot said i couldnt have that so he was going 2 eat it i must have given him the wrong inpression cuz at the end of the things he has 2 say on the pa he said i would just want 2 say to jessica im sorry about trying 2 take your salad. i was laughing so hard and then he got one of the flight attendents 2 say he was sorry again and he wanted 2 know if i wanted his swidish fish

@sweiland75 No they wont get in trouble this is Southwest culture. Its not done on all flights, however if they can put a smile on passengers faces in a different way than most airlines they will. Check them out.

Aw man I should fly Southwest sometime. I've only ever flown United/Continental. However, we did have a guy named Captain Skippy fly us on United once. He was pretty cool.

@gnarkillkicksass That's quite a statement. Look up the pay scales for Southwest and compare them to the other majors. Southwest is easily one of highest paying airlines in the United States, if not the highest.

@LearPilot1020 Look at a global comparison. Yes I know it is better then most airlines in the US but compare their salary to someone with comparable A/C and joining requirements. Like Dragon Air, Aer Lingus, Fly Dubai hell even Kingfisher are still paying expats awesome money. I don't exactly know what Southwest folks get but I assume in the global spectrum, not a whole lot still.

@cruzinstew Wasn't talking about the trolly dollys - you didn't need to pay for a type rating. No I don't know a whole lot about SWA being Australian and working for an Asian airline with lots of US guys I hear the gripes. Even in Australia starting salary on a A320 with a low cost carrier like Jetstar the STARTING salary is 100k US and just a 5 year bond on a rating, no cash payment. Even then people make them the second choice - have a look globaly - US pilots get paid terribly.

@gnarkillkicksass Captains make $198 hour. Everyone knows that you have to be type rated before flying for swa at all. It's the price you pay knowing that you have a very lucrative and secure future ahead of you.

@MrPolishpilot My last resort for an airline job ;(. I like their aircraft but I'm looking for the future, who is going to give me the best out of my career. I may use Southwest as a stepping stone but I don't see any other advantages they have. I don't find them very professional even though I'm one of those pilots that would do one of these announcements
