I remember in the early sixties when my this song would play while my brother got ready to go out and fuck women, i wanted to go with him so bad but i was just a kid. he later went to 'NAM and sadly he passed away in about 1990. I will miss my dear brother.
I really like this track. Something special. My hobby is to rediscover all those great bands from the 60s that didn´t "broke through". It´s a fantastic musical treasure. Listen for example to Music Machine and the track "Talk, talk" and of course THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". Really, really good with a bloody driving beat.
I remember i was in the eighth grade when this song came out. I played my 45rpm copy of this so much I wore the grooves out. Needless to say my parents weren't happy to constantly hear this song, but I loved it. Still do.
My 5 yr. grandkid girl was kidding around w/me, just likes to sing, all of sudden she was singing lair, lair grandpa, reminded me of the song, that I heard million times.
I was born in 1983 and even I listened to this song as a kid. My parents used to play all the oldies music from when they were kids and every time I here this song it reminds me of how my best friend and I in highschool used to have sleepovers and listen to oldies music including this song it was so fun. They just don't make music the way they used to anymore.
Born in june 1962 Yes remember dancing to this song when I was about 4 years old loved it then and more to this day, just never could remember the band or if they were still playing totally awsome They Rock it.How each of instruments stand out along with the vocals and that scream is awsome how it all comes together.Wish I had a time machine.

That's why they had rain barrels in the old days. When your pants caught fire you could just jump in. Few know this. Love this old tune. Highest voice in the history of rock.
Actually I thought the sound was fine. No worse than the original. I used to dance to this song when I was a teenager. How old is it, actually? I'm 60. Still love it!

I hear this and I can see my big brother around early 1966 getting all dressed up and going out with his friends. I was just a kid and wanted to go so bad with him. Hi,
In 2005, The Castaways performed the song, with original singer,Bob Folschow, live,(which is available on You Tube) plus, Debbie Harry recorded the song in 1988, and, both performances clearly reveal that the words are "Best believe it", not " Ask me baby". On top of this, if you listen to the original tune, the words that people say is "baby" has the long "e" sound in it, not the long "a" sound.
audiophile55 3 years ago
i love this song. i listen to it over and over.
bjc1919 3 years ago
The words sung after the intro, " Ask me baby" are not correct. They are "Best believe it"

Nevertheless I thank you for paying that much attention!

Great innovative song from 1965.
Some music historians say one the best years ever for music was indeed 1965, when singers had to sing & actually had to play instruments.
I can hear the Liar Liar influence in the song Tainted Love by Soft Cell from 1982.
Thanks for the words!
origins1965 3 years ago
I like it that you have the same idea like me, that in the past they really sing without influence their voices with the computer and that they really play the instruments on their own! Love it.
Rakazar 3 years ago
Yes I use Vista.
I guess it's the byte rate per second. After a certain point of bytes per second are trespassed, the music starts to lag in the video.
But thank you very, very much for your answer!
I appreciate that!

I don't know if you are right about the lyric in the first half of the song. You have:
"Come kill me honey, see how I cry" which doesn't make much sense. I have always thought it was:
"come to me honey, see how I cry"
Just my two cents.
