I purchased the Kobo Touch a few days ago, and love it! The styling & texture is beautiful & so comfortable in the hand. What I especially like, is that Kobo seems to really be listening to feedback. They've made multiple firmware upgrades & addressed all things that were lacking.
The font/line spacing/justification/margin options seem almost limitless now. As well, the dictionary functionality is very robust, even including translation options. The Reading Life functionality is a fun add.
the scrolling and zooming options aren't smooth at all. I think i'll wait a few more months before buying this, maybe the technology will evolve a little...
@CommanderRyanF You're talking shit. I've had one for nearly a month and it's never got any slower whilst using it! It isn't as fast as an iPad but it's only a book reader. It is responsive enough for reading and I have no complaints over its speed at all.
@Vindog76 sorry, that's when I first had it and was trying to upload multiple, large files from my computer at a time using Caliber, of all things. You're right. It's a great ereader and now that I have it set up well with adobe digital editions, it is an essential part of my life.
Forgot about the harsh "In-the-heat-of-the-moment" comment I left here.
This is a very old demo there has been 2 firm ware updates for free when charging and it offers full translation, dictionary notes and ad font types. Go to Kobo web site for up to date informtion. Great little reader fit's in my pocket to carry (just fits) and have found that I read more books than I did with the hard covers. LOVE IT !
I love my Kobo Touch to death! With the new software updates you can do so much more than what the review shows. Nearly every downfall he's mentioned has been fixed with the new software update so line spacing can be changed, there are more font typefaces and you can even add your own typefaces from your computer!
Fantastic little piece of technology. As a student, it makes it a lot easier to carry around PowerPoint lecture notes (converted to PDFs) for on-the-go studying.
Slow the heck down and let the viewer actually see what you are trying to show us before wizzing on to the next page. Also, how about planning your review before you start filming? That would give a list of things you need to cover. Every video on you channel has the words "I guess I forgot to shot you that".
Overall, pretty good, but at times frustrating for the viewer.
wow this guy is a genius....the guy who started this video i like him ^_^ so good at his job.....i'm only 11 and i like kobo i like this guy who did this video too.... very cool guy
If you want to read lots of pdf documents, I would not recommend any ebook reader with a 6'' display. Although it is possible to read pdfs it is no fun on the small e-ink displays. A tablet computer would be better in that case.
IF it comes to pdf, the Sony PRS-T1 is better than the Kobo Touch. You can pinch zoom pdfs and the Sony has got pdf reflow.
What disturbs me is that, from the Chapters/Indigo bookstore chain in Canada, "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels is included as the 100 Classic books pre-loaded. Communism has killed at least 130 million people so far. 10% of all Canadians are refugees from Communism or the descendents of refugees from Communism. Tell the Chapters / Indigo bookstore monopoly you are not interested in buying mandatory Communism with your Kobo e-book reader.
Kobo Touch must have updated because mine, which I got yesterday, looks different as for the software/os. Much more font faces, there is line spacing, change the margins, etc.... I'm really enjoying my Kobo Touch! really happy with it :)
Still no ability to take notes/highlight, use dictionary for any book I load onto the Kobo? The Sony does all that and you can print out your notes and save them to rtf file as well.
I just want to thank you for posting these videos showing all the different e-readers and tablets coming out on the market, and for comparing them as well. You're doing a great service, and I for one appreciate it.
It seemed fine on the first book but then was too spaced out for the other one. That's one of the things I noticed and did not like when demo-ing the Kobo Touch at the store.
can you put in powerpoint slides, pdf and pictures in this ereader as well?

This is a very attractive looking eReader. Much better looking than the square Nook Touch and the Kindle 3.
RobynHode8 4 months ago
08:53 shows how it works with PDF files.
I think Kobo touch is the best PDF readers compared to Kindle 3, Nook touch, etc. ( I had Kindle 3 and found many problems with PDFs and rotation. )

Do you have a master comparison list of all the features of all these ereaders? Also, will you be doing a review of the Pocketbook 902/903?

No dictionary on sideloaded books is just stupid. What were they even thinking.
That and no physical page turn buttons are both deal breakers for me.
