please help! when i get to the command menue where u have to enter autonuke, it doesnt work when i type it. The word boot: is highlighted in black, what am i doing wrong?
its getting stuck at PCI (syfs) and I'm using a usb, its working on my moms computer and it works. Check out my vid and please leave a comment to help me thanks
@fuzzykiller I't was just a Bulk store for my downloads and old backups [(1TB array of two 250GB drives and one 500GB) all of which H/W failed within 2 days of each other], My root device is an LVM volume stripped across two 30GB SSD's and then I also have a 1TB disk that I use as my /home directory. So I'm fine for now at least ;)
hey nvm, i downloaded it again, the 2.2.6 beta, and when i try to wipe my hardrive it says error/dev/sde (process crash) and then tells me to shut off the power i need help plz respond ?
hey, i burned dban, and i put it in, and it wont load for somereason, would anyone care to tell me why, and i put the boot settings for boot cd first ? PLz respond
@Goostavable I'm not sure what you're referring to - is it the recovery question? In that case, yes - if you don't delete your backup, you can restore it.
Everything is removed, even the file system. Restoration is not possible. If this fails, your hard disk is defective and can be destroyed, e.g. with brute force.

I have a question about this. Once whenever you run this, does it remove the OS too?

@38darkness42 If you flatten the hard disk with the OS on it, it does.

Can DBAN fix my drive that has bad sectors that won't relocate? I tried a zero fill with dd, but it won't get past a certain one:
root@modmadmike-srv:/home/modmadmike/Scripts# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb conv=noerror,sync
dd: writing to `/dev/sdb': Input/output error
12437673+0 records in
12437672+0 records out
6368088064 bytes (6.4 GB) copied, 442.061 s, 14.4 MB/s
root@modmadmike-srv:/home/modmadmike/Scripts#

@modmadmike2 No it can't. You absolutely need to get a new hard drive ASAP. Bad sectors are not to be taken lightly.

derwinmicheal 1 year ago
If your Recovery Disk is independent from data on your hard disk, you can.

@fuzzykiller
as in a separate hard disk--a recovery disk

Another question, if my old PC was taken to, say, geek-squad, would they know I used this program?

I just wanted to boot from the Cd,, but not start the process, how can i exit Dban once it booted from a Cd?
rahungry 2 years ago
Simply reboot your computer (reset switch etc). No erasing is done automatically.
