  • At those types of shows, do you need the Huntcoat with the like... tails? (I guess you could call it that)

  • @catti789 Not at the shows, specifically. Mainly just for certain classes. This was a hunter classic final, so the shadbelly was required. Usually just the big money classes or classes that take place at night (like some classes at the Royal Winter Fair). Most of the time I'm just wearing the normal hunt coat!

  • @sunshinejenn Alright, thanks! I was like Oh no! I have to buy one like now! Cause I'm doing Hunter shows now...

  • great job! I would love to do this level some day. You make it look so effortless...the horse too haha. The horse I'm riding right now actually looks very simular to yours, and he's the first hore I've ridden that can actually clear a full course over 3'3 xD Again, y'all make it look so effortless!

  • You (and the Horse) did great. One thing I noticed was that you had a very collected canter but were still able to clear those bigger fences. Good Job!

  • I ride my horse in a half seat too @TheBrainLick. It's better for their backs as they go around a hunter course and I think it looks nicer. My horse gets really hot when i sit down in the saddle and it's hard for her to swap leads it just doesn't look as nice when you have all your weight in the saddle. Very nice ride! My horse looks a lot like yours haha

  • Donno, what half these people are bitching about, your a great rider! and I think it depends on the horse. If i sit on my horse while jumping, she rushes. But if I stay in a half-seat, shes perfect. :P Stunning horse btw!

  • lovely hors eand great jumping i have never been good at jumping but i love classical dressage (german dressage) :)

  • Eat it? Why on earth did they use that song?

  • Wow.. that was a good round! You look so good!

  • You're a great jumper. Does your trainer make you stay in half seat the whole time or is that a personal choice?? I usually sit back in between jumps but I'm thinking of trying to stay in half seat instead.

  • It's partly both-I am more comfortable this way, but the horse is also very sensitive and doesn't like any pressure on the reins or any pressure on the saddle.

  • Ooh, I see. Thanks!

  • pressure on the saddle? so what...you dont actualy sit in the saddle? wtf

  • Of course there is some sitting in the saddle-I mean that I do not put my full weight on her back, a half-seat is essentially half sitting, half standing in order to take some of the weight off of their back. Lots of hunter/jumper riders use this technique in order to stay light and balanced around the course, also allows for a more consistent picture (not much of a change in body position from the approach to the jumps, to actually going over the jumps).

  • what place did you get

  • This is just the 1st round, the top 10 came back for the 2nd round. But overall I finished 1st.

  • congrats i wish i could jump but i do not have a horse or the money to take lessons

  • really? she looks like she could pass as 16.2 or maybe 16.3hh
