  • INDEED!!

  • What, no poke to the eyes?

  • Taka Michinoku used to be in the WWF but back then he was Chinese

  • That Just Facelock looked like it hurts like a motherfucker.

  • I wanna see taka vs masato yoshino vs amazing red vs mistico vs naruki doi vs ultimo dragon. Any other cool ass mofos I forgot should be added.

  • wwe sux at using talent. cuz this guy had it all.

  • I don't exactly get the appeal of the Michinoku II. Is it anything more than a body slam lift into a driver?

  • Where is the Michinoku Driver 2b?

  • @MyChemRomancePwndYou Slightly different, but still on point. He said in his book: If the WWF was based on talent, TAKA Michinoku would be WWF Champion.

  • spaceman moonsault has to be the coolest fuckin thing ive ever seen

  • Maybe he did it right and everyone else is doing it wrong? He is the credited innovator of all the michinoku drivers after all.

  • EEEEEVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL!

  • Portia Perez is using the Just Facelock now, which is apt, given her gear is a tribute to TAKA's.

  • awesome wrestler

  • No Michinoku Driver II-B?

  • the michinoku driver 1 looks weird here, since when goes the opponent face first down when you perform it??

  • That particular clip is the only one of Michinoku using the move.

  • @TheSuicidalDragon it sucks that michinoku does the move (in the only clip of him doing it) wrong

  • @SuperDragonICP Well its suppost to be a Double Underhook Brainbuster but TAKA didnt want to Hurt his teacher so he turned it into a Double Underhook DDT

  • that 1st michinoku driver is like the DR driver II that davey richards uses, the one in the vid looks like a elevated double arm ddt

  • 1:19 Just Facelock....Amazing

  • Its a shame a great wrestler like Taka Michinoku was treated like shit in the WWE and i highly doubt if TNA would have done any better.

  • @sm2942 you dont know that

  • sheerdrop brainbuster = Gourdbuster suplex. Nice video though a great wrestler taka

  • @aelfredhauscarl sheerdrop brainbuster is most definately not a gourdbuster

  • The michinoku driver is a sit-out scoop brainbuster or piledriver?

  • Piledriver

  • @Chantula77 It's a Sit-down Scoop Slam Piledriver,not a Sit-out Scoop Piledriver...!

  • man look at how far he went with that spaceman move!

  • uhm, but the michinoku driver (the first, i mean) isn't a sort of straight jacket sitout powerbomb??

  • Negative.

  • @TheSuicidalDragon

Japanese wiki says the MD1 is a Pyramid Driver (straightjacket sitdown powerbomb). Knowing no japanese, there is a link to the page of Yumiko Hotta and her finisher infact was a Pyramid Driver too :)

  • Oddly enough, that's not the first time I've heard of that. In fact, the announcer refers to the Pyramid Driver as the MD during the match with Sasuke.

  • @TheSuicidalDragon

I see, thx for the explanation

  • super K FTW

  • Space man moonsault, this man know fly.

  • "TAKA is coming... motherfucker."

    To me, TAKA = God.

  • wheres the dick killer???

  • Can't have everything on a top ten list, and with trying to get a good mix of his modern style and his original style, it just didn't make the cut.

  • Heey man,Do you have some superj cup full match videos?

  • Not off hand, no. I've got the 94, 95, and '00 J Cups on DVD.

  • Just on DVD.

  • Just Facelock is just amazing.

  • Taka Does Not Need To Step Into WWE ever again after the racist sterotype gimmick of old martial arts films with poor english dubs they had given him and Funaki

  • now that I think about it. I think it would be great to see Funaki in All Japan and K Dojo so he could team up with TAKA in Indy.

  • Just Facelock is an awesome name for an awesome move. heh

  • He's one of the best period. Not in my top 5 but definitely would fall under the top 10 greatest wrestlers of all time.

  • I like how you avoided useing any fotage of him in WWE, they fucked TAKA up to no god damm end

  • I was watchng match the other day of triple h vs taka for the wwe titl taka almost won lol

  • yeah y is it spelled with caps

  • I've read it's sort of a heel trait, but I can't say that I've heard a definitive answer on that.

  • never was crazy about the Michinoku Driver II, but I like the original. By the way, why is it that TAKA is always spelled in all caps? what is the purpose behind that?

  • @krazyzark I thought it was because in japanese, the english font is in all caps?

  • He's gonna kick u ass and this top ten proves it.

  • great wrestler to bad the only thing people remember him by in wwf is his faceplant in the royal rumble thats cause wwf couldnt use him right

  • TAKA was in one of my favorite matches of all time. I freakin' love his Spaceman Plancha. It's amazes me that he gets out that far.

  • Always been a fan of TAKA.

I remember actually believing he had a chance at winning the title in that match against Triple H with the APA making sure no one interfered.

It's a shame he was mostly used as a jobber to the stars or a comedic heel (Though I'll admit I liked the "EVIL" schtick and it produced an awesome t-shirt.)

Whenever I created a wrestler ina videogame, I'd usually use the Michinoku Driver II as my finisher.

  • INDEED....lol

  • that was funaki.. TAKA said "Were EEEEEEEVVVVVAAAAIIIL"

  • he was wasted in wwf

  • In the last few years, definitely. However, the first couple of years with his reign as Light Heavyweight Champion, he was used rather well, and I had the honor of seeing him compete live in 1998 against Brian Christopher at a house show that featured an insane spot with Brian evading the Spaceman Plancha, but TAKA simply dropped from the top to the apron on his feet, and went over the turnbuckle to land the Spaceman Moonsault instead.

  • when i 1st saw him in wwf he was totaly different to anything else they had. i think that held him back because he made shawn micheals and the rest look average.

  • He sure didn't stand the test of time with them sadly. He helped define the LH championship, got stuck in some memorable stables and storylines (Though Kaientai Deluxe is far better than WWF Kaientai) but his last years before he left weren't much. But from what he got out of the WWE helped make the presentation of his current product.

  • He should of won the wwf title.

  • At one time he was my favourite wrestler

  • Mick Foley once said '' If the WWF was all about talent TAKA Michinoku would be WWF champion''

  • I really did mis something special.

  • Honestly, the move was used so sparingly, there's never really been a clear usage of the move aside from this clip.

  • in otherwords he didnt wanna hurt his teacher?

  • Most likely, yeah.

  • Can i ask, where is TAKA now?

  • All Japan, and K-Dojo.

  • Taka Went Back To Japan Where He Still Wrestles Today.

  • Em...I know he is in Japan now, Which federation?

  • He Opened Up K-DOJO. But I Lost Track Where He Is Now Days..

  • Meh....And i Wanted to know it-Where taka is Now :) Thanks Anyway...

  • He's in K Dojo and All Japan, last I checked.

  • He is definitely in my top ten favourite wrestlers off all time.

  • A great moveset for a great Technical wrestler.

  • you should make one for funaki

  • Funaki really wasn't around much, and even when he was, he didn't do a whole lot.

  • I loved me some TAKA back in the days when he wrestled for the WWF/WWE, and I still enjoy his work to his day. It seems that he enhanced his repertoire with more technical tactics.

  • Yayy been waiting for this.

    That moonsault was incredible.

I was expecting more from the double underhook brainbuster though it was more of a ddt.

  • TAKA Michinoku is one of my favorite wrestlers

  • Is his last name pronounced like "Mitch-uh-no-koo"? Either way, amazing wrestler!

  • mee-chee-no-koo??

    and yes agreed

  • Mitch-In-Oh-Koo

  • TAKA is still the man, but I think reworking an entire moveset worked better for Liger than it did TAKA.

  • I would agree, simply because Lyger had to adjust, while TAKA wasn't quite as beaten up with injuries as Lyger was. TAKA was able to retain some of his famed aerial offense, and add a little more, even.

  • was taka in wwe?

  • Yes, from 1997-2002, roughly.

  • INDEED!

  • He even had a WWF Title match against Triple H (Taka put him a hell of a match, but you know that Vince won't put Taka as champion, and less winning to his son-in-law)

  • Im reminded of what Mick Foley said. If winning the title was about skill, Taka would be WWE champion.

  • trple h wasnt his son in law at that time but i did love that match wwf FINALLY let taka actually show some chance of being good in wwf since his debut but of course they wait till his last match

  • He rounded off his moveset much better imo. The precise strikes and mat offense still makes him the man to beat anywhere. Even his match with Madoka was pure execution.

  • Awesome <3

    I love Taka.
