@aliciabrooke1000 Yeah, nice boys when they were asleep. They had quite a reputation in London. The band went through women like lawnmowers and their drinking and chem ingestion is legendary.
@ramalamadingadong They had no records released along with their weekly TV series. None. All 56 shows that aired (28 filmed with repeats, 56). It was messy, very messy. After January 1976 the Arrows never released another record although they had the weekly TV show. It was a legal matter and destroyed the band. By the end of 1977 they gave up and broke up, since they were contract bound and couldn't release any records it was impossible for them to go on.
RAK records did have some very commercial acts and Arrows stood out as not really fitting in to that label. Still, the label got hits with bands like Mud and Kenny who fit the brand better, and that's the name of the game. Arrows releaased very few singles but had a couple of hits all the same.
@mistyntwisty - It's interesting to note that this video has more hits than their top 10 hit "touch too much" - This band shoudl have always been writing their own material.
Speaking of the Stones, Arrows Terry Taylor was on the short list to play with the Sones when Mick Taylor quit the band. Ron Wood got the job, but Terry was under serious consideration.
Sure, Arrows were influenced by the Stones, and Jagger is known as the best rock frontman ever. Aerosmith's singer did it and his band were very successful with it. So why not borrow a few moves? Mick Jagger borrowed from plenty of performers himself!!!
They were really into a lot of different musical styles and changed their visual image a lot. The Arrows videos on youtube are all so varied it's like they're a band with a multipul personality dosorder.
It's a pity Arrows were doing this when punk was just starting to dominate the UK music world. If they had released this sort of high energy stuff a couple of years earlier they would have had hit after hit.
The Arrows were perceived of as a pop band, and some of their records were pure power pop, and a few even sugary pop, but the band's natural leanings were straight ahead rock, like this song.
Arrows lead guitarist Terry Taylor is now with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings. They were the opening act for the Led Zep reunion last Monday Dec 10th, 2007. Terry is a great player!
When this was on Granada TV it had a target audience of 12 -16 year olds. Alan Merrill is a very talented guy and a quick internet search well show it.
Jesus! This is incredible! A cross between the Stones and Montrose and they look amazing! Great clothes and the drummer has the best haircut ever! Why don't all bands look as great as this lot? Brilliant!

Mickey had his idea about "image" and market demographics. These guys were superb musicians. But they had to play to the tweens cum 16s.
Should have heard them jam in the studio........awesume. Yes they were the real thing.
They all wrote as well.

Odd that their label never released this great song, with them having a weekly TV show and all in 1976.

Too bad the label wouldn't release this sort of material by the band. It only ever came out 30 years later on EMI's Arrows -A's B's and Rarities.
