Thanks to your video, I diagnosed the exact same problem with my 2001 Forester today. I caught it before it got worse or caused bigger problems. Thank you!
I posted on the forums already. Belts are okay. I'm going to remove the compressor V belt to see if it's the compressor causing the noise. If not, then I'm going to look under the timing belt cover to see if there's a failed idler pulley.
