  • how long is this video streched over and anyway thanx i used it in my presentation

  • Earth on the rocks

  • 1/2 gone? Naaaaaaa, sure, it less, but 1/2...no truth here....

  • how many years is this video streched over???

  • If sun was the main factor in climate change the Earth should be cooling.

  • HAIKU

    I hatch! Crawl! And swim!

Oh how I love my sweet life,

    But—why's the sea so WARM?

    —A Green Sea Turtle

  • Why do people think that we caused global warming? Us Humans? There has been like 300 years of industrial?

  • @SteamMonkey115 First off, it's cumulative. The stuff we pump into the air builds up over time. Second, we pump more of it now than every before. The industrial CO2 from, say, the 19th century was produced by a few thousand factories. In the 1930s, by that and a handful of cars. Today, we have BILLIONS of cars. Even though they may be more fuel efficient, we are making SO many more of them, that we produce more CO2. Now, China and India are coming online with them. The pace is accelerating.

  • @icowrich Yes that is very true about that . But, the real problem isn't the heat itself....

  • @SteamMonkey115 then?

  • @Caffineguy152 What is under the ice that has been waiting to burst for millions of years.

  • @bd886

  • @bd886

Yep, lots of people - why?

  • @bd886

"the sun is the major driver of the temperature not CO2"

    - True, but irrelevant since the sun is not the ONLY thing that drives temperature.

    "CO2 follows"

    - not always and not in this case

"Dont worry about what al gore has told you"

    - yes, don't listen to Gore OR people posting on Youtube - listen to SCIENTIST 97% in the field of climatology agree on the cause of warming

    "GLOBAL sea ice extent"

    - look up the difference between "extent" and VOLUME - overall volume is going down

  • We are not going into another Ice Age because it has never been this warm globally in the last 400,000 years. Us humans are just make manners worse with cars, big trucks, buses, factories and other large releases of carbon- listen- if we don't change sea levels will rise by 30 feet- we are affecting nature. The kids and teens now will have to deal for our consequences

  • @Katusa1018 well, maybe not an ice age anytime soon, but that is true, unless we change our ways, there will definitely not be an ice age, maybe not even another 50,000 years...

  • We are not going into another Ice Age because it has never been this warm globally in the last 400,000 years. Us humans are just make manners worse with cars, big trucks, buses, factories and other large releases of carbon

  • what the hell happened on that

  • What if we are heading back into another Ice Age?The earth's climate is never static. It is always changing. That doesn't alter our responsibility not to interfere with this though......check out my website where I discuss these issues in my drawings. Also a new video "Earth Skins" coming soon on my YouTube channel

  • lala

  • What will be will be? No thanks, no salvation in that.

  • I see new beachfront condos coming soon.

  • What will be, will be. The earth has experienced all sorts of natural events well before man even existed. Just live your lives and let nature decide the rest.

  • good ... w will finaly see whats beneath the ice ;d

  • Wow... the Arctic ice melts and "Refreezes" in the lower continents. That must be what "Global Warming" is. Why does it melt up there and freeze again down here? That's not really Global. Al Gore is the RICH initiator of this phenomena, so it must be true. He was our VP wasn't he? Why would he lie? We should all listen to our leaders who must be smarter than we are. Just pay taxes and be quiet.

  • @RodRambler

Actually, the warming IS global. Cold weather makes the news sometimes, but it is more than balanced elsewhere. NASA and NOAA agree: 2010 was GLOBALLY the hottest year since records have been kept. The decade 2000-2010 was the hottest decade on record. And of the hottest years on record, 12 of them have happened since 1997. This isn't about Al Gore - I am a political conservative who has never (yet) voted Democrat. It's about science, not politics.

  • Do you mean the earths temps will be back at the time before the Little Ice Age that’s great! The Holocene warm period, a prolonged warming period than was warmer and longer then the Medieval Warming Period, was a great time of development for knowledge, technology and the Human condition. Northern Canada and Siberia will be opened up to farming, development and settlement. An ice free North West passage would save billions in transportation costs

  • @cupera1 Great comment!! But tell me something, with all this tonnage of ice melt ,why haven't the coastlines diminished? Miami beach, where i am from is unchanged, new york the same, my parents in elba island say the coastline is unchanged.

Where did all this melt water go? Back into the polar openings?

  • @awakegene sea ice floats so when it melts it doesn't raise the ocean level. Think of ice cubes in a glass. The ice has already displaced the water it is floating in/on. If Greenlad were to thaw, that would be a different story. Sea levels would rise considerably. So far in the 20th and 21st centuries sealevel has gone up by some 18-20 cm. This is from thermal expansion of the oceans caused by anthropogenic global warming.

  • @uknowispeaksense Sounds factual, I'll give you that much, but the record amount of glacial melt from around the world is in the millions of tons. The northwest passage is close to being ice free.

Australia, china and other parts of the world are experiencing record flooding.

Scientific explinations, the regular paradym explinations are not fitting the causation. Sorry, but it sounds good.

  • @awakegene the reason why it hasn't been noticed by yourself and parents is because it has gone up by only 20 cm in more than 100 years. In the normal course of tidal ebbing and flowing such a small amount will be barely noticeable. Where it will become obvious is on king tides and storm surges coinciding with high tides and then as an overall average. Rising sealevel will become very apparent in the next 50 years or so. See w w w . agu . org/pubs/crossref/2011/2011GL046583.shtml

  • @uknowispeaksense It has recently happened in miami beach then. I am from miami, but moved to warsaw, and my friends told me last year almost exactly what you are saying. I don't know if it was reported, but if it is happening there, then it has to be happening else where. It is funny, if things don't fit the paradym of science, it gets brushed under the rug, like so many, many things, including our de-evolution. It is so funny to hear people speaking about the evolution ofr man.

  • @awakegene wow you write so fucking stupid

  • @ttowntom incidentally, i note you seem to have shifted from "ice in Antarctica is increasing/theres no increased calving of ice shelves" to "ise is melting, buts because the ice age that end 10,000yrs ago is still endin". I guess thats a step forward.

  • @dalellll apologies for poor spelling - i was on the train and fumbling with a keypad.

  • @ttowntom sorry, screwed the formatting. Those were obviously to you.

  • @ttown im not discounting that study - you are. You havent apparently read it, bc it doesnt say what you claim it says. "current rate of sea level rise 7 inches per century" - were not talking about the last century, were talking about the future century - the rate is accelerating at the upper end of the IPCC predictions. Comparisons to the end of the ice age are hardly relevant. Explain to me why they matter? Im concerned with whats happening today.

  • @ "Ice isnt melting for no reason" - no, its melting because its getting warmer. Exactly. The current warming period is not a continuation of the end of the ice age - its due to increased CO2. The pattern of warming (days/nights, summers/winters, equator/poles, stratosphere/troposphere) points to a greenhouse, spectral analyses point to CO2 & CH4. The warming 20k-10k yrs ago inundated whole communities. Not sthing to crow about.

  • @ttowntom ... Ice shelves calving - actually, this does happen - and sea level rising are two different things. Calving doesn't contribute directly to sea level rise: it accelerates the movement of land ice, which DOES contribute. Antarctica is currently believed to be causing sea level rise of roughly 0.3-0.8mm per year: based on the loss of land ice observed in satellite measurements. Its over 100Gt per year. Where do you think that all goes?

  • Comment removed

  • @ttowntom You said "they didn't take that position until AFTER the data clearly showed ice was increasing, and Antarctica cooling."

No, you are factually wrong. The data show that Antarctica is warming. That's agreed to even by "climate deniers". The data show that the Southern Ocean is warming, too, and Antarctica is losing land ice. Antarctica - and the ocean around it - is warming, and losing ice; *only* the seasonal sea-ice increases, and scientists have shown that the reason is local.

  • Thats funny. I just watched another reported scientific satellite image of arctic sea ice from 79 to 09 and it showed something very different. It showed the ice spreading and receding normally without much change. Now which one is true hmm? Could the both be lies? Look at the beginning. They show snow and ice spreading completely down and covering russia, siberia and down to china, CONSTANTLY AS IF THERE IS AN ICE AGE. WTF? Fuck all this disinformation. Get off my front yard you stupid kids.

  • @angstotheclown Then you missed the point. Of course there is seasonal variation - that's an annual cycle. Climate change manifests over much longer periods. As the description to the video says, its the perennial effects that matter. "Perennial" means longer than a year. Your great insight seems to be "It gets cold in winter". Congratulations, please have a Nobel Prize! The point is, we are losing more ice in summer than we should. Read before you comment on something that you don't understand.

  • ...idiots.Weather meet an all time high and low and you dont see people make theories that make them more rich the more uneducated hypocrites give them money to do "reaserch"! DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER GLOBAL FREEZING 20 YEARS AGO??? No because it was just a hoax to get those idiots rich. Now stop over reacting and actually do your own reasearch excluding the news and other reports from the "media",beleiveing anything and putting it up as news

  • when i mean axis changing i mean like that of Uranus just not that bad were a day is a year on uranus

  • im not trying to sound crazy about this but i never seen any antartic ice cap melting videos like this one accept in the antartic perhaps earths axis is changing making days longer! i dunno but that would suck because school would half to be longer or not >=D if this is true perhaps school time would stay the same so today if i get out at 2:30pm and in like 100 years i would get out at like 10Pm i would have much more time to chill =D

  • Sea levels have been rising since the end of the last ice age, 20,000 years ago. In fact, over most of that period they were rising much faster than they are today. Google Meltwater Pulse 1A for just one example.

Interestingly enough, even though Arctic ice is still decreasing, Antarctic sea ice has actually gone up in the last 30 years.

  • @ttowntom "Antarctic sea ice has actually gone up in the last 30 years." Actually, Antarctic sea ice waxes and wanes yearly. It dissappears almost completely (relative to the area covered) in summer, so whether it has "gone up" in winter is meaningless for long-term impacts. The long-term effects are in the ice-shelves - which are fed by glacial ice coming off the land. And the ice shelves around Antarctica have been disintegrating. The Antarctic disintegration and the Arctic ice loss match.

  • @dalelll,

Please don't spread falsehoods. Antarctic sea ice rises and falls with the seasons ... but the *average* yearly amount (as well as both the summer minimum and the winter maximum) have all increased since satellite record-keeping began, in 1979. The continent of Antarctica as a whole is also cooling slightly.

Anyone can verify this by visiting the UIUC's Polar Research Center website, where they have graphs demonstrating ice trends.

  • @ttowntom Turner et al. (2009) Geophys. Res. Let. v36 among others, demonstrate that Antarctic sea-ice has nothing to do with global climactic trends (it relates to local conditions). Do you deny that the ice-shelves have been calving at an increased rate? Do you deny that Antarctic researchers all report a loss of land ice of a hundred gigatonnes a year and more? Your comment that Antarctica is "cooling slightly" is false (even deniers find warming: search "The Air Vent" "Doing it ourselves").

  • No, Antarctic ice shelves are not "calving at an increased rate". The latest research has shown *zero* acceleration in sea level rise over the last 100 years at least. Read "Reconstruction of regional mean sea level anomalies from tide gauges" in Journal of Geophysical Research.

And while some climatologists say NOW that Antarctic sea ice has "nothing to do with climate", they didn't take that position until AFTER the data clearly showed ice was increasing, and Antarctica cooling.

  • Comment removed

  • @ttowntom You said: "Read "Reconstruction of regional mean sea level anomalies from tide gauges" in Journal of Geophysical Research"

I've read it - i suggest you do, as well. Antarctica is now losing enough ice to cause a 0.3-0.8mm rise per year, but look at Figure 10(a) in that study - the amplitude of sea level change, globally, is 2-4mm, which is 2-13 times the Antarctic ice loss. I note also that the authors of that study state that sea-level rise from global warming is around the corner.

  • @dalellll (the point being that the study was not designed to detect the sea-level rise from global warming that has occurred so far)

  • And no, you can't discount that scientific study I quoted. It was designed to detect **any** acceleration in sea level rise that had occurred over the past century. None was found.

It also agrees with another research paper, entitled "Closing the sea level rise budget with altimetry, Argo, and GRACE", which concludes the current rate of sea level rise is about 7 inches per CENTURY, or far slower than the average rate of sea level rise over the last 20,000 years.

  • @ttowntom You also wrote: "The latest research has shown *zero* acceleration in sea level rise over the last 100 years at least" - i've shown that the reference didn't say what you said it said, but in fact I probably should have pointed out that satellite measurements of sea-level have actually shown a distinct rise (something like 4cm) since the early 1990s. (The reference you cited did not look at satellite data, but tidal gauge data.)

  • @dalellll,

Are you really this dense? Ice isn't melting for "no reason". It's melting for the same reason it's been melting since the end of the last ice age, 20,000 years ago. In fact, it was melting far faster then than it is today. Current rate of sea level rise is 2.5mm/year, but 10K years ago, it was over ten times faster.

  • @ttowntom Actually its melting faster than ever before.

  • When I lived in Humboldt County about 5 years ago there was huge news;

The seals and walrus that normally migrate to the arctic ice shelf for the summer came back because the ice had melted so much they couldn't find it.

  • Parvati, Canadian musical artist and energy healer/yogi, takes the courageous journey to the most northern Canadian soil: a small, desolate island in the Arctic Ocean known as Ward Hunt Island, just kilometers from the Magnetic North Pole and 200 kms from 90 degrees North. There, as the first ever to perform at the Magnetic North Pole, she will offer her songs to help raise awareness of the global ecological impact of the melting polar ice caps.

  • this is not showing winter too summer for one season its the observed ice lost threw the years More ice is being lost in the summer then is being replaced in the winter every winter their is less and less ice being reformed.

  • Yes -- this half-minute clip shows what happens in the northern hemisphere from April through September.

Where is the other half, which shows what happens from October through March?

  • @jnstraume Look for a vid by greenman he has one which shows a few years of cycles and the trend is clearly towards less sea ice volume. And notice that it's ice VOLUME not AREA, ice is not 2 dimensional the volume is what matters most.

  • its melting and it freezez every 5000 years

  • does someone knows of any study or calculation done on a number of cars in the world, times the number of water gallons on the car's radiator cooling systems, plus the number of house and industiry boilers and their equivalent in numbers of heated gallons of water? plus swamp coolers, we realy heating up the earth waters by burning gas, gasoline, electricity, and biogas This energy gets dissipated but some stays in the planet . the emisions are obvious, CO, CO2, methane, and other pollutants

  • @drgreenmwdf It's true, a correlation is no proof just yet, but you're really going out of your way not to even *consider* it. You're jumping from one silly theory to the next, from one commonplace remark to the other. Your latest hit is "we've got something far worse headed our way anyway, so why worry about what's happening now!"

Not exactly the best position to take when you're talking science, is it?

  • Comment removed

  • @drgreenmwdf I find it very amusing you don't even want to *consider* the possibility that the recent temperature rise has anything to do with the observed rise in CO2 concentration, while there happens to be a huge statistical correlation between the two.

  • @drgreenmwdf Life itself will not disappear of course. If that's comfort enough for you, I presume you don't live near the sea ;-)

  • @drgreenmwdf

I'm not saying the current CO2 concentration, or the fact that it's rising, is lethal. I'm saying it will change the world into a far wetter one.... About the way it was "when life exploded".

Life on earth will not be eradicated or anything - that's a thing only freaky apocalypsians (does that word exist?) believe in. But sea levels will rise, temperatures will rise, and many people, especially those living near the sea, will suffer.

  • @drgreenmwdf hahaha, the usual utterly confused reaction... Sure, the CO2 concentration HAS been higher. Way higher even, like you pointed out. The funny thing is, back then ("when life exploded" as you put it), this concentration was so high because up til then there hadn't been any plants filtering it out of the atmosphere... they were just beginning to come up!!

  • @Caenwyr Yes as I am well aware of but we rely on biomass. What is comical is thinking it is never going to get hotter or colder and i would worry about it getting colder not hotter. as one will happen as it has for millions of years with humans or without.

  • My favorite question to people who think the small temeprature increase over the last century was unusual or even dangerous is this: Why the hell do you think Greenland is called Greenland?! :)

The vikings built fucking farms all over the place, they didn't mind the missing ice.. and neither did polar bears! Not only did they survive much warmer periods, no, their population is 3-4 times stronger than it was decades ago!

Wake up, dumbasses, you've been lied to BIG TIME! :)

  • Arctic sea ice is now ABOVE normal ... so much for the global warming alarmist idiots.

  • @sydneydoc Have you got any evidence for this or is it just your opinion?

  • @PhilyBdizzle

D'uh ! Of course there's evidence. I'm a realist, not one of those half witted alarmists who believe any nonsense they are fed.

Go to arctic-roos org site for sea ice data - ice area and ice extent - both ABOVE normal

  • @sydneydoc I just finished looking at the website you sent me and I couldn't find much information to back up your claim, the graphs on the website clearly show a decrease in the amount of arctic ice found in the polar regions and not the "Above normal" predictions you said. In the future I recommend you use the NSIDC website to base your opinion on, I have nothing against the other website but this one is much clearer so you wont get mixed up next time.

  • @PhilyBdizzle

For heavens sake ... look at the RED 2010 line. "Daily Updated Time series of Arctic sea ice area etc. "

    LINK

    arctic-roos org observations satellite-data sea-ice ice-area-and-extent-in-arctic

Why are alarmists incapable of finding data themeselves ?

You'll also find there's been no "global warming" for 15 yrs and the Arctic was much warmer in the 1930's.

  • @sydneydoc Those graphs dont show an "above average" or an "above normal" increase they show it over taking the monthly average (1979-2006) very briefly this month.

This year has been better then than the last few years but the fact still remains that compared to 1979 more than 1,000,000 square kilometres of ice is missing from the arctic region.

Im not an "alarmist" Im just an average person looking at the facts and making up my own opinion..

  • @PhilyBdizzle

Arctic sea ice "above average" is very different to its disappearance that was forecast by alarmists !!

Alarmists also ignor the 30 years of increasing Antarctic sea ice, with no change in global sea ice.

Melting sea ice is pure alarmist scammers' nonsensical scare tactics !

  • @sydneydoc

The sea ice melts away and re-freezes every year it's part of an annual cycle, what people are worried about is the fact that it's re-freezing less and less (on average) every year (since records began).

If you want proof of this you can look at any graph which shows sea ice extent since 1979..

    nsidc(dot)org(foward-slash)images(foward-slash)arcticseaicenews(foward- slash)20100406(under-score)Figure3(dot)png

  • @PhilyBdizzle There was a time when there was no ice on the caps and life was very abundant and prolific and there where no c02 polluting people yet it was 7,000ppm. Today 350ppm oh no co2 the stuff plants breath and use to make oxygen.

  • @PhilyBdizzle The point you are missing is this: there is NO fixed standard of how much ice there should be in the arctic!

We just happened to START RECORDING during a period where the planet actually warmed a few tenth of a degree. So, yes, there is less ice than there was 1979 BUT there is also WAY more ice than there was 1000 years ago!

The planet is starting to cool again (for the last 10 years) and no stupid model saw that happening.

Climate changes regardless of what we do! Deal with it!

  • Arctic is really warming up and ice are melting. They said it rained in the Arctic and this is not a good sign. When it rains, it means its getting warm in the Arctic Sea. Its Mayan 2012 melting of the Arctic Sea.

  • Arctic sea ice is now at normal levels, yet the GW fraudists continue to spout their nonsense that the "ice caps are melting". Makes you wonder who the real deniers are, huh?

  • WHAT COOLING? LOL!!!

MARCH was the HOTTEST March in the UAH 32 year satellite record.

UAH (Univ. of Alabama, Huntsville) is run by Dr. Christy, the well known AGW denier.

Global temperatures for FEBRUARY were 2nd WARMEST February in 32 years.

Global Temperatures for JANUARY were the HOTTEST January for UAH in 32 years.

    LOL!!

  • @goog2k Wasn`t it the coldest winter for 32 years too?

  • Barring an about face by nature or adjustments, it appears that for the first time since 2001, Arctic Sea ice will hit the normal line as defined by the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) for this time of year.

Could the ABC please send alarmist Marian Wilkinson back up to the Arctic to file an update on this report of 2007:

  • There's been no change in GLOBAL total sea ice in 30 years of recording.

  • The point is that the sun is getting larger every single day, and we can do absolutly nothing to stop it, thus making earth's tempuratures rise and melt its polar ice caps. Global warming is nothing but a modern political scheme to have more regulations and control over people when it comes to the enviroment. not to mentiion taxing the hell out of people for "precious" resources.

  • modern day's societys version of global warming is ver misunderstood and highly exaggerated for being solely the fault of the people. It has been "scienttifically" proven that the sun is growing everyday, and will continue to grow until it swallers up earth and every other planet in our galaxy, then ofcourse explode into a super nova or whatever the proper name of it is.

  • Nice animation.

  • @gppceo I agree we should stop pollution and stop cutting down forest.

But co2 is no pollutant it is vital to plants, in fact if plants could talk they would tell you they are starving for it. There is 350ppm now, plants grow up to 40% faster at 1200ppm. I would be more worried about engines consuming oxygen than emitting c02 as oxygen was 30% in past now 20%

  • I am always amazed by stupid ignorant slobs stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers@the expense of the Amazon-blasting down freeways in giant gas guzzling SUVs-cranking up thermostats instead of wearing sweaters&then denying the data, facts& insulting people who are actually trying to make a difference in pollution, energy&consumption-who know we're doomed if we don't unite&change our ways. Will someone please give all ignorant slobs another burger&fry so they'll just check out with a coronary?!

  • People are just 0s and 1s in a binary stream (sorta like TRON), 0s hoping to be 1s and 1s hoping to remain as 1s till they die. Nobody thinks about the stream itself, everyone is selfish about the individual bits.. The planet does not care a bit about random bits in its data set. Errors in computation leads to redirecting evolution in a different direction.. Scientists are driving a car blind folded from LA to NY. A good plot for a hollywood block buster. Hope they live happily ever after...

  • Am so happy the human race is so fucked up like this. Look at the warnings that were issued before the 911 attack. How many "experts" took note of the warnings? Then when it happened they were quick to blame at each other. Look at medicine, when Penicillin came out, every expert claimed we conquered infections. Then the bacteriae and viruses got smarter and we got MDR mutants. Now "scientists" seem not sure about anything... But politicians seem VERY SURE !!!!

  • How many of you have connections with fossil fuel companies, I ask?

  • @nightvid08

Why are these energy companies heavily invested and green energy? Keep watching MSNBC owned by GE also heavily invested in green energy. They have you duped enjoy no power or paying double for it and still witness global change

  • They even stole someone else's computer generated video showing the sheets of ice breaking off. Pure fiction. Mann's hockey stick is proven wrong. Carbon does NOT drive temperature. Temperature DOES drive carbon. He has it backwards. Lastly the sun drives temperature period. How come the same people behind the ice age are now at the center of the AGW fear mongers?

  • @Caenwyr, this guy is an obvious shill either being paid to continue with their propaganda or works for a pro AGW company using false date. He can't explain away "climategate" nore can he explain why Copenhagen was such a failure. He can't deny or explain why 31,000 scientists along with the founder of the Weather Channel John Coleman is suing Al Gore? This guy probably still believes in his "Inconvenient Truth" fiction.

  • Just face it Mr monkeymirror, Caenwyr is more than right!!

  • by the way, I'm going on a holiday for a week or so. Don't go thinking my lack of an answer on whatever nonsense reaction you're going to make now is by any means a "victory".

I will be back soon enough, with more of the same: using facts to fight your fiction.

  • @Caenwyr Enjoy your holidays.

  • Because you've been believing bullshit based on lies. Polar Bear populations have been on a steady rise for over a decade now...more food for them to hunt, and they do spend 90% of their time swimming...this is natural not a shame.

  • Hahaha wat a loser.... "the government tries to tell you lies".

I'm a scientist, I KNOW what CO2 does. Plants don't "breath" it, they use it in combination with H2O to form glucose and oxygen. They've been doing it for millions of years.

Apart from that CO2, and every other gas, liquid and particle in the atmosphere, absorb radiation.

  • @Caenwyr Well so much for cellular respiration then because we do the same thing essentially with O2.

  • Perhaps you're too stupid to know this (you might look it up in a standard science book - unless you think those are lying too), but that process is called the "greenhouse effect". This effect has kept our planet warm and cosy for, well, hundreds of millions of years. Really. It has. I can calculate it for you if you want.

Unless you think standard mathematics is telling lies too...

  • The thing is: you accuse me of believing in lies, while all I say can be checked in simple experiments. It's not even rocket science, you don't have to be smart. You just have to connect the dots.

You on the other hand are waving with accusations you can't even begin to prove. The animation above is NO cgi, temperatures are NOT going down, polar bear populations ARE, co2 IS a greenhouse gas because it DOES absorb radiation, ... the list is long, and grows with every word you say.

  • @Caenwyr What happens in a Greenhouse is far different than what the Earth experiences. For one, a greenhouse is closed in with the majority of the heat staying inside. It's a fact that the Earth reflects and even allows heat from the Sun back out of the Atmosphere. Why...because the atmosphere is permeable, it is air. Why does that scientific argument rely on a scale to which both constant variables are excessively exponential of each other?

  • @Caenwyr hey smarty pants the science books also say it use to be 7000ppm when life exploded on earth. it is 350ppm now and that is too high? Grow up and think for yourself.

  • @drgreenmwdf Sorry for getting personal. this whole co2 thing is just unrealistic to deal with we are not going to stop driving or heating and cooling our home. 1 good sized volcano will go off and make our man made co2 look laughable it will happen tomorrow, a decade, century...... soon. Earth has been the most stable environment since humans ruled it is silly to think it will last. We are so over due for something far worse than our co2 production, mathematically

  • @drgreenmwdf trolling the web in order to change the minds of others?

ur so full of it it should be funny

I hope ur just that stupid (27y), problem solved when ur kind dies

    but

u probably just have a hidden agenda or something

  • @Cunelito why dont you stfu fag

  • @dfhohj why don't u talk sense

  • @Cunelito I BET UR FAT AND NASTY GREESE BALL, THIS DUMB FUCK CANT EVEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO ADD ICON. HAVE A NICE LIFE.

  • @dfhohj u shouldn't get so exited on the internet, there are much more important issues than my salty greese balls

  • its scaring me: you dont see any difference in the first ten seconds. after this its disbanding so abruptly.

  • wake up.

  • This is pointless because it's all in CGI. This is not what real satellites see. Besides the Ice caps are getting bigger, co2 does not cause warming it is a product of warming. A tax on a life giving gas that plants need to survive...yeah that's a good one!

  • As a remote sensing specialist I can tell you: this REALLY is what satellites see. These are the yearly MINIMA (the summer ice extent, so to speak). Within each year though, the ice extent greatly increases and decreases.

The maximum extent has actually barely decreased since the beginning of the mesurements: each winter the ice comes back, but each year it gets thinner and thinner.

This composition is nothing but the most drastic expression of a very real event. It is by no means false.

  • Devil's advocate here but even if it is happening why is the general public being demonized and systematically attacked when anyone presents real data that shows how they've been "hiding the decline"? Global temperatures are going down and anyone who talks about this is either hauled out of a hall by force or attacked by some provocature claiming only that Gore is God?

  • Temperatures are going down? How so? I'm a scientist myself, and I have very different data. The world is slowly warming up. The shrinking of the summer ice extent is only one undeniable example.

I ask this from every climate scepticist, and I'm afraid I will get the same lack of a coherent answer: can you give me proof of the opposite? can you give me scientific evidence (!!) of the fact that the world is NOT warming up - or even more rediculous: that it's cooling down?

  • The Sun is the leading cause to what happens on this little rock. It comprises 98% of the mass in this solar system how could it not. Solar output has been going down for the last 10 years and we're also spraying the sky with chemtrails that block out the suns rays. You say you're a scientist so go look it up yourself.

  • I can see letters, but I don't see any evidence - while that was what I asked for. The sun has a certain influence, indeed. But while activity on the sun is indeed decreasing, temperatures on earth ARE going up. All records point in that direction (local decreases in mean temperature included). If you had a thermometer in your backyard, and had noted the temperature of the past 40 years with your very own pencil, it would probably say the exact same thing. Things are warming up.

  • The majority of the recording stations that formulate weather data are on top of malls over buildings and over warm reflecting asphalt. Plus if you know anything about climategate then you know they purposely fudged data coming in from oceanic stations sometimes more than 10 degrees over what it really was. Don't you see? All the data is based on crack numbers, it's all false. As you might of read on here, co2 doesn't even cause warming. co2 rise comes up to 1000 years after a warming trend.

  • boohoo, they use false data, they do it on purpose, they they they - the government (or the scientists, or the non-believers, or perhaps the aliens, hm?) are picking on me! They "purposely fudge data", just to make me feel bad! Aren't they bad?

What a bunch of crap. Lots of "blah blah blah" and conspiracy bullshit. Even your end statement makes no sense: CO2 is a greenhouse gas. If you knew anything about absorption and emission of thermal energy in gases, you'd know you're telling shite.

  • Your ignorance is astounding. The misuse of words like conspiracy is quite humorous too. I mean a conspiracy needs only two people working to accomplish an agenda, so using that word is negligible. Speaking about absorption you do realize that CO2 is a life giving gas that plants breath right?

  • You are aware that more CO2 comes out of a few volcanoes each year than what we could ever produce with 7 billion people right? Humans are not causing the great climate changes seen right now and if you believe we are then you have givin' in to hardcore government propaganda designed to make you turn off your critical thinking. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS?

  • @Caenwyr Great so you proved the world is getting warmer but how do you conclude it is co2? And why conclude it is a bad thing? why was there a ice age when it was 4000ppm and why was life more than abundant at 7000ppm?

If 150ppm is the lowest how is 350ppm to high?

  • @drgreenmwdf *sigh* you're really hardheaded, aren't you? Well, actually, for a scientist that's not a bad thing. At least you're asking the right questions! Okay.

As for the world getting hotter being a bad thing: when temperatures rise, ice will melt, and the ocean water will expand (thermal expansion, they call it). These two processes will inevitably lead to a substantial sea level rise. Especially those people living near coasts will be affected.

  • @drgreenmwdf hundreds of millions will lose their homes. I probably don't need to explain that even with a fairly small sea level rise (less than a meter), it will weigh down on (i) the developing world, where an estimated 50% of the total population live near the sea, and (ii) on the megacities of the world, of which 14 of the 17 largest cities are located near the coast.

  • @drgreenmwdf as for the link between CO2 and rising temperatures: I gladly admit the scientific community is humble enough not to go yelling "we are 100% sure it is CO2!!", while they are no more than 90% certain (percentages are merely indicative, of course).

  • @drgreenmwdf But while scientists feel obliged to admit they don't know everything, this shouldn't be used as a means to say they are wrong. Same goes for projectile track estimation: while no scientist can exactly predict where a bullet will land, he can certainly give a good estimation (within millimeters, usually). The uncertainty is inherent to science. Simply because scientists are the only ones to admit it exists!

  • @Caenwyr Mars warming?

  • @Caenwyr well said, excellent point

  • @drgreenmwdf "why was live more than abundant at 7000ppm?" I presume you're talking about *plant life*. That's another thing I probably don't need to explain: while plants LOOOOOVE CO2, most animals are more keen on O2 (being oxygen, as you probably know), which is the respiratory rest factor of plant life. CO2 came into the atmosphere as a results of millions of years of vulcanism. Animals were only able to survive when the O2 concentrations became high (and logically CO2 low) enough

  • water vapor is something like 84% of the total greenhouse effect. co2 is something like 3.34% of the total greenhouse effect. man-made co2 is something like 0.2%. taxing water, the white smoke coming from your breath, central heating, and smoke stacks, would have been more absurb of a fraud so they went with carbon dioxide, the stuff you exhale and plants absorb.

  • the main point is that co2 levels follow warming, not cause it. co2 is also a significant part of the life cycle of the planet but is a very insignificant part of the atmosphere and total greenhouse effect. the whole thing is based on fraud and lies. the sun has been warming for awhile and now it is cooling so now the alarmists have to hide the decline with bad data. data plus. as they delete the raw data. that is the real crime.

  • notice the white at the end. that is because it is the start of the fall before the ice starts to refreeze again for winter. also, the arctic doesn't cause sea levels to rise because 90% of the ice is submerged already and has 90% less density than water. the sky is falling. not.

  • the only thing that will save us in an ice age like that of the previous one-would be cool :)

  • Hey could the person who made this video tell me what it shows, im using it in my global warming presentation for Social 20 and I really need to know what this is showing, because id hate to give incorrect information

  • wait a tick.... doesn't this mean that more of the world's land mass is habitable by humans now?

  • Do you see any land mass under the melted ice you too-stupid-for-words bitch? No, sea levels rise and places like Japan get f#@ked, but I guess you'll just throw Japan under the bus too with your kids and their kids.

  • Ever heard of Siberia and Canada dipshit?

You ASSUME it is man made, you assume this when well over 31,000 scientists have petitioned the entire idea, when emails have leaked saying it was bullshit, If it even were a problem, I have faith in Japanese engineering.. if anyone can save their country it is Japan. I tried to make peace with you, but your just a dick, come to the states and talk your shit bitch.

  • ice has less density than water so pushed down ice in the water as it melts will cause the water level to actually drop. the south pole and greenland is more important, but still insignificant compared to the size of the oceans. it also takes a very long time for ice pack to melt. the sun will cool before it is a problem as it already is cooling.

  • Go look up "sea level rise" and "mass balance" in Wikipedia.

  • try encyclopedia britannica is you want fact rather than fictionl you can't even find out how far polar bears can swim in wikipedia. after about 10 paragraphs of propaganda you can one fact specific about polar bears, they're marine mammals. you find much better information if you look at a source of fact rather than propaganda.

  • we understand your climagegate and sun spot denial. you've been bombarded with propaganda from corporate-funded media and politicians. big oil is behind the fraud. bilderberg, united nations, and club of rome are heavily involved, along with the cfr. they've hijacked your movement so you're ignore the real environmental damage done by the corporations and government while they fund a world dictatorship, control everyone's life, and starve you with carbon trading scams..

  • goldman sachs is using global warming to rob you of your rights, prosperity, and eventual life as you starve to death and become sterilized because it is easier for them to exploit the planet with less people and with enslaved people.

  • I just heard Goldman Sachs got more Swine Flu Vaccine than some hospitals. I guess America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Goldman Sachs.

  • goldman sachs is like the modern day j.p. morgan (onw chase). it is one of the main investment banks where the owners of the central banks manipulate the economy and profit from it. it is basically a front for the rothschilds, rockefellers, morgans robber baron mafia, who also happen to run and own the media and leadership of both parties.

  • goldman sachs employees are also buying firearms in london, where it is largely banned and difficult to get a permit.

  • i guess also guess they got the single shot vials free of mercury and free of adjuvants. the expensive ones where they don't make much profit. to protect themselves from the virus they (baxter, gsk, novartis, also owned by goldman sachs mafia) created in the lab and hyped in the media to sell vaccines and to show the public, see, you need to buy the vaccines too.

  • They are Free Market zealots which are no less dangerous than Muslim zealots. I don't see why we shouldn't be using all the anti-terror powers (we paid for with our liberties) to go after these economic terrorists. Don't make fun, but i have a health care vigil to attend so...signing out.

  • they are crony capitalist zealots which are much more dangerous than muslim zealots. take a peek at the baxter board of directors. they even have the founder of medimmune on the board. looks more like collusion than competition.

  • You're right, that doesn't exactly sound like a free market, does it, but they use the term very loosely themselves.

  • That being said, A host of scientists in different disciplines have a preponderance of evidence for man-made climate change. No amount of fringe opinionators will change that. Gotta go with the scientific community on that one.

  • like changing a chapparel into a concrete tundra? like when the agw fraud fails, one hides behind the vagueness of climate change? are debating haarp and chemtrails or trying to determine the cause of the differential between land and ocean temperatures?

  • ozone and cfc? some insignificant influence on climate by humans by creating a fire or running a/c? what are we talking about? why not talk about real environmental concerns, such as pollution and gmo?

  • rain forests? i really miss the old environmentalism after all this agw and cap and trade nonsense.

  • what about the significant greenhouse gas water? why not tax water vapor emmissions? it would hurt the fuel cell industry though we might need to admit that changing that brown smoke coming from the coal plant to white smoke (water vapor) was a great achievement.

  • what about debating conerns about natural climate change, such caused by asteroids, volcanos, earthquakes, and sun activity. or wmd or chernobyl impact on the environment and climate. i guess that would be boring to have an honest debate. more fun to promote fraud and expose fraud.

  • I could research it, but I'm no scientist. I don't have the money or the equipment available to me that scientists around the world have. Any debate would be an intellectual exercise and not much more. And be realistic, fraud at that level, involv
