  • That is really neat. Bandit is so smart. Also, I guess you know this and just put it on the carpet for filming, but...The scales need to be on a hard surface to weigh correctly. If it is on carpet, when the weight shifts slightly, it will effect the scale/weight. I do enjoy your videos. I have just found them! Thank you for all the info, and for sharing. Ann

  • He really is a smarty pants! Yes, it did not work on the carpet and it is really too small. Bandit will stand on it, but he really does not like standing on it. So, I need a bigger scale. :) Thank you so much for watching my videos! You are awesome! I can't wait to check out your channel.

  • I won't have anything on it until sometime in January, at the earliest. I have to figure out how to load things onto YT. The only video camera I have is on my cell phone!

  • aww shes so pretty and this looks like a great thing to teach im getting a belgian sheepdog puppy in a few weeks and i think this would be good to start teaching her early on so i dont have to pick up a

55lb dog anyway great video very informative and beautiful dog!

  • Make sure you get a bigger scale. hehe! My husky mix is 58lbs and she is too big to balance her paws on the small scale I have. Plus, my scale is glass and slippery. So get one that is a little bigger and not slippery and start your puppy right away as he is a puppy and when he is grown, it will be a piece of cake. Thank you for your really nice comment! Good luck!

  • Very CUTE! I have to try this one with Jesse. I hope our scale will pick up 22lbs, if not it is a really cute trick to teach anyway!! =o) 5* to you and Bandit! ~Heather and Jesse~

  • Thank you Heather & Jesse! My scale is so sensitive that if Bandit does not hold totally still, it will not read it. Either way it is just so much fun to shape different behaviors. Have a great day! Pam & Bandit

  • Yep! This is next on my list. Thanks for the great idea!

  • Can't wait to see your video! Have a great day! You are welcome for the idea!

  • What a creative use of a behavior that Jessie already does! Now I just hope that our scale registers as little as 30 lbs! LOL!

  • I went and actually tried this with Jess. The closest I could get to was 3 feet on and one off. Too much reinforcing for that position when skateboarding! Ha. Ha!

  • Goes to show there are sooooo many fun and different teaching opertunities to be had! :O) Why not teach them to do something that is good for the both of you! Very cute! :O)

  • Steve, you are awesome! Thank you so much for your really nice comments and profile posts! The things we can teach are dogs are really unlimited. I tend to stick with things that are useful and not dangerous for my dogs. Thanks again! Have a fabulous day!

  • Great idea! we are lucky to live nearby the vet and he has a very large scale to weigh them so we go there

  • You are lucky, because my little scale is really too small. Thank you for the comment! Have a nice day!

  • this is a really good idea, I have no idea why but Holly goes crazy when I try to weigh her! She is fine being picked up the rest of the time (though that took a lot of work) but not to be weighed. I'm going to try this with her :-) plus I find it depressing to have to weigh myself first with the holding the dog way of doing this! haha!

  • You just hit the nail on the head! I did not like finding out how much I weigh in order to find out how much Bandit weighs. However, I still can't get Izzie on the scale. I need to invest in a larger one. :) Thanks for the sweet comment! :)

  • This is so useful Pam!! I like a lot ur devotion to trainning!!

  • You are so welcome! Thank you for always being so nice! Keep up your awesome training! Have a great day!

  • Love it!! You are great! While watching this one of my dogs who was in the room with me, heard the clicker and came and sat next to me, ready to train!!

  • Haha, i JUST got done weighing bouncer the same way you just said you use to. Im going to teach him this trick..eventually. Thanks for the tips!

  • That is too funny! Thanks and have fun training the trick!

  • Great idea! I don't have a scale but perhaps I could practice with a large book. . .

  • Yes, that is a great idea! Have fun & Happy Training! Pam

  • Cute!! I pick mine up and stand there with them, too! Though my two only weigh 14kg (30lbs), so they're much lighter than Bandit!!!

They get onto the scales at the vet on their own though. Their scales are much bigger!!

  • Well I can pick up Bandit, but Isabelle weighs 60 pounds. However, she will only put two paws on the scale. It is too small and slippery for her. They will get on the big one at the vet no problem, but I like to make sure all my trick training is not making them fat. HEHE!

  • hehe! That was so cute! Lovely tutorial, Nice editing by the way!

  • Thanks! You are way to nice about my editing! I am still very frustrated with it. THANKS AGAIN! You ROCK!

  • very original idea! Cute!

  • Thanks, I tried to find something that others have not done, but I bet someone else has. Have an awesome Halloween. We are just passing out candy. Take care!

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks! Have a great day!

  • great idea! me and billy together is too much for my scale so this will be perfect!

  • I hope your scale is bigger than mine. HEHE! Can't wait to see him do it! :)
