  • I love how Piper always exalts God and His glory. God is worthy of all the glory He gets and doesn't even get as much as He truly deserves.

  • Amazing teaching! Piper is right on with this. (and I'm not even a calvinist...lol)

  • you can imagine a padded cell around this guy fairly easily

  • 1So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather through their trespass(N) salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. 12Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion[b] mean!

  • Acts 21:39

But Paul said, I am a man which AM A JEW of Tarsus

  • ham eating gentiles

  • Dispensationalists are Calvinists and vice versa because both affirm the unconditional covenant made to Abraham. In other words if there is no Millennial Messianic kingdom there is no security of salvation as well and we have believed in vain

  • You brag and whine in a 'messiah' who forsaked and abandoned your two millenia ago.

  • He didn't abandon us. He gave us the Holy Spirit to be in us forever. Plus He'll be back again soon.

  • @berean700 You pretentious pagans have been saying 'He'll (our cult-leader) will be back again soon' for two-thousand years!

  • @berean700 yea mate... if the music industry is so screwed up i dunno wut god want me to do in there....

  • How can people honestly believe in this stuff?

  • Your question is going to get a major thumbs-downing, but it is a very legitimate and necessary question. Why do we as Americans become so obsessed with religious thought--and so focused on who is wrong for varying slightly from our brand of the truth? A much more ambitious endeavor is trying to embrace all truths and find the commonality in how all humans experience the divine.

Now watch how these sycophants give me the thumbs down.

  • @kc7fys. How can we all be right? We cannot. People talk about it because eternity depends on it. The Bible teaches that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. The penalty for sin is death. In the old testiment God accepted innocent sacrifices in the place of the Jewish people. In the new testment he gave his only begotten son who live a sinless life because he was the immanuel came and become that innocent sacrifice for our sins so that we may not die but have eternal life.

  • @kc7fys. Can you imagine this scenerio were God loved the world and sent retribution so that we may be justified and have our sins forgiven free of charge. Ready to be accepted. Yet people reject it and they will not be justified because there was no payment for their sins. Is God not just in punishing these people? If everyone is a sinner then we all deserve death.

  • Sounds like you're the holder of the truth--and everybody around you is wrong--unless they agree with you. I do like your question, "How can we all be right?" I don't know--nobody knows, or CAN know that, actually. Luckily, it's not necessary to be just like you and be OK. That's not to say you're not good and OK.

  • @kc7fys. Thanks for the nice response. I do not believe I am the holder the truth but believe that Jesus is because he is call the Truth. Now here is the deal. One of my friends that is a different religion stated that a lot of times people are the religion that they grew up in. This is probably true but I believe that one has to look at the evidence for each religion as they seek after the truth. I believe there is evidence out there and from it you can now what is the truth.

  • Religions evolve. Religions that are rooted in violence are particularly dangerous. Yhwh was a warrior who claimed to be God who demanded to be worshiped. Read your old testament, especially Deuteronomy. Perhaps it was just a fable; or perhaps there was a time when godlike humans walked the planet. Either way, avoid the false preachers who believe in war.

  • Your full of crap... Bible said Israel would be a nation again a few hundred years ago and Israel became a nation 60 years ago... The bible is prophetic and divine...

  • You spelled 'You're' wrong, my friend. The international bankers (who rule the planet) created Israel knowing full well that people like you would think it was prophesy fulfilled. They did it to expand the New World Order into the Middle East. They knew it would cause tensions that would eventually lead to war that would lead to expansion of the empire into Middle Eastern lands. They are tricking the religionists into thinking war is inevitable. Earth's ruling class bankers read the bible too.

  • You spelled prophecy wrong good buddy. You said that "The international bankers (who rule the planet) created Israel knowing full well that people like you would think it was prophesy fulfilled." Hundreds of years ago, Israel was attacked all the time. The people of Israel have withstood genocides. The fact is that Israel has withstood the attacks and the bible was indeed correct. Israel once again became a nation. Even if that was the plan of the banks, Israel still became a nation.

  • You are high

  • You are a mind-controlled slave.

  • You're still high

  • Thank GOD I am!

  • If God's doing that to teach people a lesson, and if this is the same God who told somebody to kill his own son if he 'really loved him.' That God's mean, capricious, and cruel. Why would we want anything to do with a god or person who is that way?

  • plz do not think so closed minded...

if u rlly dont no then read the bible

it clearly states that God loves us and

is a jealous God who wants

and needs to be put as 1st...

GOD CLEARLY TOLD HIM TO NOT

    KILL HIM IN THE END....

  • So if I told my wife to kill my son if she really loves me--and then told her to stop at the last moment... you're saying it's closed-minded to see that as psychotic? Hm. Any psychologist would disagree.

And jealousy--that's a character weakness. Many humans learn to overcome jealousy and live a normal life, but we accept this in our God? Hm. Sounds to me like you're resisting certain ideas instead of me. You're not alone--I know.

Have you seen Religulous yet? It's fairly insightful.

  • I am a Christian myself--and I think we should look at the Bible devotionally as well as historically. It holds up to scrutiny and criticism. Without such inquiry our faith is useless.

  • AMEN

  • Jesus himself had said they if one loves his family over me they do not deserve to follow me... He is saying that u should never put anything or anyone b4 GOD it was lesson taught and learned... and i've heard alot about Religulous yet.. but i would seriously wished that bill Maher wouldve talked to me... then my faith wouldve been stronger
  • anyway Bill Maher is a supporter of legalization of gambling, prostitution, and marijuana..

y do u feel that he is this great person..

im sure he may have done "good" deeds

but one can usually know who the person

is by their views and amount

    of their knowledge....

  • Wow, what a ridiculous ad hominem there. If you don't know what that is go look it up.

  • y do u feel that its very ridiculous

everything i have said is tru...

lol and i bet u feel

rlly special for using the word

    "ad hominem"...

    lol

  • I'm sure it is true, but that does nothing to take away from the fact that he's right (which by the way is the definition of ad hominem, and no, i don't feel special for using it, i feel special for using it correctly against people like you who actually use them).

By the way, and at the risk incurring the wrath of shallow minded morons, what's wrong with gambling or prostitution or especially marijuana?

  • look im not sure if u are a christian then

    well..... thats to bad

but if you r a christian and u do things like "...gambling or prostitution or ESPECIALLY MARIJUANA" u r making your body dirty, as in sinful.

God said our bodies r our temple....

our church is were we worship GOD

and if you make it dirty by drugs and sinful desires

ur not giving God ur most precious gift.

look u probably no the story wen jesus got mad in a church full of merchants selling stuff

    just imagine with drugs...

  • I don't believe in sin. It was just a tool invented by the religious elite to control the masses, such as yourself.

If you're wasting this one life you have not living for yourself and enjoying it, you're wasting a very precious gift.

and what the fuck do you mean especially marijuana? It's less harmful to you than alcohol, tobacco, even too much caffeine is worse. It's ok if you want to give your own rights up but don't try to take away mine.

  • @webmaster. You are right you are free to do what you want. The Bible also talks about there being a liberty in Christ. We are free to do anything but not all things are beneficial. "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not." 1 Corinthians 10:23

  • @waterplo12 You are not free to do anything in this world while claiming to do it for, or in the name of, God: you follow and serve Christ in faith proved through works (James 2:24) or else one commits adultery and lives a lie (jer. 23:14) The truth is that God doesn't show favoritism; he's extremely discriminatory because He's GOD and it's His offer of eternal peace. The Bible reads in Matt 7:14: "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

  • @yelhsaeroom9811 ""Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything." 1 Corinthians 6:12. There is liberty in Christ. You are free in Christ and it is Christ who does the saving and he saves completely. Now as a new creation in Christ are we going to want to be obedient to God and are we going to want to love God with all our hearts and our neighbor as ourselves. Of course! (continue)

  • @yethsaeroom9811 As a new creation in Christ it is our nature to do good works. James 2:24 matches up with Ephesians 2 where it talks about being saved through faith and not of works. It also talks about there how God has made us in Christ to do good works.

  • Most of the christians who I have met who are obese have conveniently overlooked this little Body as Temple part. Hm.

  • thats true. It's sad. but some people are so bound its uncontrollable. Its really sad. But you have to know, there are not any many CHristians in the states that you may think. Go to poor villages in Africa, South America.. There you will see true Christian, people who have a loving relationship with Jesus

  • Religulous is a poor piece of scholarship riddled with false information. For example, all that information about Horus: false. Horus was born from the resurrected pieces of Osirus, a god cut into 14 pieces by his brother. Maher, though intelligent, pushes his point even to the point of using poor academic work. Religulous is not scholarship.

  • Fair enough. I agree that Maher is a smart guy, and makes a funny and thought provoking film.

  • @kc7fys. The Bible teaches that we are all sinners and the penalty of sin is death. In Chapter 22 of Genesis God had no intention of killing Isaac. From it God was able to tell that Abraham feared God but more importantly a God gave him a ram to sacrifice instead of his son. It shows how innocent animals could be offered in the place of a sinner as the payment. It points a head to Jesus who lived an innocent life and was the final sacrifice for the sins of the world.

  • @kc7fys. His blood covers us like the blood of the innocent ram covered Isaac. Abraham trusted God and God provided. Interesting thing is that were the sacrifice was done was in the region of Moriah and God told him where to do the sacrifice. The Jewish temple was built on mount Moriah. In this temple the high preist would offer sacrifices to God for the Jews.

  • The best message I've heard on this issue, which has been important to me since living in Israel among Jews (including Messianics) and Christians of various persuasions (from ultra-Zionist to Arabs). As the Messianic Jews and Zionist Christians assert, the issue of Covenant Theology (which they call Replacement Theology)vs.Dispensationalism, which to them means Pro-Israel vs.Anti-Israel, will soon come to split the Church in two, worldwide. John Piper counters their argument perfectly.Heed him

  • grace, grace, grace, grace, grace...

  • Amen
