@locoboxspaceship They are different in just about every way. Transformers speakers wiring of the circuit and most of all the sound. Check out demos of a REAL '59 Bassman and you can hear the difference.
that's a good idea, but if this amp had a master volume it would be easier...the attenuator is pretty expensive...I still think that Fender should made a new modern Bassman with reverb and master volume: I would buy it tomorrow!!!
yo this is a vintage reissue amp not the old farts throwback back porch amp, grow some hair on your balls, claptons not 18. neither is half those guys who crank their shit. btw they did do that with a similar circuit ever heard of it, its called the champ you knob
HAHA because these were at first used for bass and at that time bass fuzz/distortion was never really considered so all in all master volume would be almost pointless
cool, you've got the settings right, now jumper the inputs and turn both volumes to 6-7 and move the microphone anout 15 feet away and play no more than 3 songs or you'll suffer hearing loss
i love the bassman sound for blues and what not, however i usually play pretty clean and use a keeley mod bd-2 pedal for my overdrive sounds. does a bassman have enough clean headroom? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
How can I make it crunch at a lower volume? I like 10-15 watts amps, I don't like clean sounds, but I like this amp: actually i have got one!! it's too powerful...can i do anything to get a natural distortion at a lower volume?
orginally, back in the 50's fender made the bassman for their basses only. Someone decided to try it with a guitar and found it was an awesome guitar amp too so guitarists began to use it. This is the reissue of it
Yeah, and a lot of bass players hated the fact that the back of the speakers was exposed instead of a closed in cab, becuase it sacrificed the presence of the lows. I don't really care myself, I just need something that can play both and not have too many lows, or too little highs lol!!!
It was a Bassamp but guitarists found it was awesome sounding so guitarists kept using it, I don't know if it ever caught on with basses...Ampeg makes great bass amps (Thought I'd throw that out there)
I'd like to know what reverb is used in this clip ? The bassman doesn't have any
arioz1 2 months ago
Does the bassman sound good at low volume levels too for recording at home or has it to be cranked up to sound that good?
triclops8 6 months ago
@triclops8
if you want distortion you need a pedal, but the clean sound is very good at low volumes!

Definitely a Fender sound, but nothing like a genuine hand-wired '59 Bassman. Nothing like it.

that should be clip 1, good settings. This is the perfect tone out of the six clips.
Probably best guitar tone in universe.

if you really want to hear the true sound of any amp and guitar, hey just put all of the dials at about 12 o'clock, big fucking duh....

is there reverb on the amp or do you need a pedal for that? thanks
OMERTA011 1 year ago
@OMERTA011 the bassman does not have built in reverb..he must be using a pedal

Is this setting the following?...I can't see very well...
PRESENCE at 0 (zero) BASS/TRABLE/MIDDLE at 12 and Volume at 4
Is it correct? This is the best sound of them all!!
danlovesnan 1 year ago
@danlovesnan dude it's quite easy to see. All EQ controls are at 12 o clock. Bright Vol is slightly above 3 while Normal Vol is at 0.

...master volume: that would be nice. I don't really understand why this great amp doesn't have it; It would be perfect!!
danlovesnan 2 years ago
Because real men crank there amps!!! lol... So wut if u loose alittle hearing? its worth it.
BreakItDown5150 2 years ago 3
it's not worth it...i am not 18...Doctors are expensive...
A 5 watts amp is what I love most..but with a big cabinet. That should invent a Bassman, same circuit, but 5 or 10 watts...like the projunior...
danlovesnan 2 years ago
Im not 18 either. im 16 and i crank my super reverb 2 ten daily ; )..... Altough that would be rly neat. Im pretty sure u can use an attenuator tho..

Cant u jumper this amp? im not sure how jumpering works, but cant that act as a master?
BreakItDown5150 2 years ago
I don't know...anyway if I use a booster (pedal) it's much better and very dynamic

I think it's because master volumes suck. At least that's the technical reason.

Hey Fender-
Instead of posting 6 clips of between 13 seconds and 30 seconds long, just post ONE DEMO CLIP for this amp.
What a PITA!

Its loud enough for most venues. too loud for home. Mine has london power scaling and a voltage controller in it.

Because Bassman 59 Reissue have adjustable bias control inside my question is: is it fully cranced or set more on middle ??
THANKS!
allan4425 3 years ago
im not sure what you mean by adjustable bias control
unless its inside the wiring and stuff of the amp there is none on this amp
it just has the volume control

There seems to be some kind of strange delay on all these videos...was the camera also picking up the amp along with the mic?
Alexizephyrmage9 3 years ago
Yeah I hear it to on all off the bassman clips. Possibly the reverb or the mic picking up slap back.
mkII20vt 3 years ago
No reverb on the Bassman, probably slap back
