  • Why weren't Paul and Mick ever in a Tour de France?

  • Im 40..I listen to The Jam...Best band ever by the way....and I also listen Paul with the Style Council....hes a fantastic song writer and musician....even as a solo artist....my favourite song though has to be The Jam Thats Entertainment or Thick as Thieves xx

  • @hibeegirl17 my fave is tube station ,or monday

  • Great song...but it sounds suspiciously similar to "Know Her When I See Her" by the Cooper Brothers from 5 years earlier. Check it out on You Tube.

  • @Leyland1964 Hey... weren't the Cooper Bros out of Alberta, Canada? I have an old vinyl LP of theirs! LOL...........!!!!!

  • Paul Weller is too cool to wear a helmet.

  • Love the song, what a horrible video though.

  • paul weller must be a gemini

  • middle of the road elevator music, and just as forgettable.

  • That is amazing that you are 16 and you like the Style Council. You are ahead of your time. Continue to listen to great music regardless of era. I was listening to my father's records when I was 16. I love Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder to this day as well as the Style Council.

  • definitely got style - "form is temporary but class permanent"

  • Amazing how listening to this again after 20+ years has flashed so memories back so clearly

  • This looks like Me and Bettsy only older ! But which one is Bettsy you ask !!!

  • This is such a cool sound. Loved it in HS, it just so fit the times so well.

  • Oh yea! I am a Paul Weller lover!

  • I'm 26 and have vague memories of hearing my dad play this when I was younger. Heard it in a supermarket the other day; absolutely brilliant.

The 80's are incredible, I wish I had been born 10 years earlier!

  • Shit mate I'm 50, and I love it. White northern soul at its best. We Aussies can only dream of this stuff. Go the Wire!

  • Best song about manic depression ever -- including "Manic Depression."

  • stunning but also listen to the piano/acoustic version of this song..very moving.

    we r the mods !!

  • i'm 42 also and this song will stay with me forever ... uncomplicated teenage memories come flooding back Love it !!!

  • Whenever I try to think of a perfectly wrtten and executed song, this one comes up on my short list every time. Paul Weller is a genius, period, end of story.

  • I sooooooo love YouTube because it re erects videos like this. The 80's was such a GREAT (and weird) time for music. This song reminds me of highschool and everything associated with highschool. That first kiss... etc. etc. Thanks for the post.

  • I'm 15. My school class is full of people who listen to the likes of Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj. I, however prefer The Style Council, Nirvana, RHCP, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, The Eagles, and generally all the REAL music out there. Thank GOD I have parents with good music taste.

  • @Zeroxidy Yes, you are very lucky. Look into Dinosaur Jr and The Replacements as well. A couple of my all time favorites

  • @Zeroxidy

I'm 15/16 and my class mates (left now but still) listen to Lady GaGa and other artists of the same. I perfer to listen to older things, i.e. Style Council. I get called wierd and freaky, I perfer to call it 'being different and individual'...

  • @MrYoungMod No sake of listening to it to be different, I'd call it just enjoying the music, this is before my time also and I'm big on 80s music, I'd just say I'm a music lover.

  • @MrYoungMod so do i mate, im 24 but have been listening to a lot of stuff my mum an dad bummed over the years mate... this is a shocking video to be fair though bet it cost bout 100£ by those days standards with money too... the rest of the budget probly went up wellers nose haha ;) still love it thou

  • @MrYoungMod Or just "timeless and tasteful"!

  • @Zeroxidy You might also like Roxy Music, and NRBQ. You sound like a great kid!

  • @Zeroxidy

You my friend have good taste in music.

  • Ah, the Bipolar Disorder anthem. But seriously, this is a fantastic song. I remember when I was in college, 1986, when a friend made me a cassette of the album & I still have the tape after all these years. Listening to this song made me so happy, driving over old railroad trestle bridges on a stunning fall day in Ohio with buddies in the car, drinking Strohs Bohemian beer, which was revolting but all we could afford. Wouldn't trade those memories for anything. Many thanks for posting it

  • @halcyonsgs That's an awfully wonderful memory.

  • Often wondered how comes The Style Council made such great songs, but crap videos, when I was a kid I used to think they were gay, I guess it was because of their dodgy videos, anyway another great song which brings back lovely memories of the 80's

  • thanks man - happy days for me

  • i simply like it..! brings back memories..!

  • this song is for ever one of the best

  • LOVE this song. Loved The Jam and loved Style Council.

  • I like the look of these old rough videos with the blocky graphics and jerky motions, it gives them an impressionistic quality like a painting in the same style.

  • A true masterpiece of the 80s. Still love it so much!

  • just found this-havent heard it since its release

where have the last 25+ years gone!

if only music was still this good

  • fuckin tune,ream sounds.

  • comedy masterpiece.

  • LOL... great tune that takes me back, however, nobody that had anything to do with the production of this clip has ever ridden or raced a road bike!

  • This song brings back such lovely memories of the 80's. Listening to 80's Music makes me feel happy for some reason.

  • @KEPY08 Same here. A lot of these young punks and chumps nowadays don't know anything about real music like folks who made music in the early 90s, the 80s, and on back.

  • @TheAkatsuki10

They wouldn't know good music it it slapped them upside their heads!

  • MOOI..krijg wel zin in lente zo.

  • damn, withou even knowing this song back then..now it instantly gives me back feelings of the eighties.

  • Haven't heard this song in centuries, and I have missed it.

  • I loved the 80's too, especially when they sounded like this. (Compare the Go-Betweens and the Hollies, there's just no Nash of the 80's apart from Nash, that's all.)

  • how many memories !!!!

  • im 49 beat that:)

  • hunterbcampbell, thanks for your reply. I agree, those 80's were musical days that I think people of our generation really miss. Today's young music scene just doesn't cut it on so many fronts. So many cool bands from the 80's. P.S. SPRINGSTEEN ROCKS!!!!!

  • Paul Weller is so great. Thankyou for you reply TheShortBlondMod. Great song eh?

  • To gordlightfootfan I'm 45 and will forever miss those days. The Style Councel / P. Weller were fantastic. So under rated.

  • Great song....dIsagree Great video as its of its time!

  • great song. Bad video.

  • this group and this song has change my life! Great group.

  • Goood!!!!!!

  • it was their image, ambiguous sexuality, we were more intelligent in those days

  • grew up with this music! my parents still play it almost every day X'D guess it's contagious haha

  • 懐かしい・・・☆

  • Terrible sound quality on this upload.

  • good song but Weller and ginger look like a couple of homs

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhh

  • so great music! so great age!!!

  • my dada likes this song

  • I get in the mood with this song.....MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel!!!!!

  • Whats the best way to find mp3iffy to download this mp3? Someone told me to google mp3iffy.

  • My favourite video--ever!!!

  • Sounds like Isley brothers...Nice!!!

  • Come on people this video is awesome. Sort of similar to The Jams Absolute Beginners video. Though why did they get all Keystone Cop style when they encountered those muses.

  • This song moved me in that amazing atmosphere of 80`s....Where the f...k those days have gone?!...))))

  • @slava2026 I feel the same..feels like yesterday sometimes, those halcyon days.....

  • @slava2026

The eighties alive at my channel....Take a look!!!

    Thanks....

  • I remember this song!!! I am 42 now and love it when i was in highschool!!!

  • @gordlightfootfan: Same here!!!

  • @gordlightfootfan good on ya pops!

  • @gordlightfootfan The same thing happened to me today and I am 43

  • @gordlightfootfan Great song, bloody hideous video though isn't it hahaha

  • @gordlightfootfan I'm 44 and saw this video in the fall of '84 when I was a Junior. Still have the '45 single.....played it everyday after school for a year!

  • ahhh, i was young when i first heard it that i didnt understand the impact of the lyrics...now...wow, what an amazing song!

video is hilarious! i was a cyclist in my younger days as well, so i do love this video that totally doesnt match the song! :D

  • Arguably the worst video matched to the best song combination ever. Ah, the 80s.

  • just love it!

  • So underrated.....but so important. I always find myself gravitating to this song when I need a reason to push forward....

Thanks, Style Council....no matter what life did to you.

  • I love the guitar.....the song just sounds pretty to me.

  • Always in the mood for Style Council!!! Another very underrated band (in North America)

  • Great song from a great era (the greatest ?). And I have just bought Cafe Bleu. Again.

  • Is it me or does the song sound like it's from the 70's?

  • il tell ya the mood this puts me in..a fooookin great mood!

  • Comment removed

  • This was not an era of crap. i loved new wave music, i have fond memories of the early 80's.

  • One of my all time favourites, this song was totally underrated when released as a single. A gem of a song in an era of crap.

  • Esse vídeo é clássico. Assisti na TV há muitos anos atrás...

  • they're just ridin' bikes

  • @hyoncake didn,t cost millions to make, that,s for sure ;-) the beginning of video clip era

  • True that this song isn't available on an LP, released as a single only? I love this song!

  • @SuperFishman22 There's a version on the debut LP Café Bleu, but it's a stripped down loungey sort of thing.

  • Cafe Bleu is the UK album name or My Ever Changing Moods in the Us.

  • @SuperFishman22 I have it on ..The Singular Adventures of The Style Council

  • @SuperFishman22 those where the vidoe day,s haha;-) the start of MTV

  • @SuperFishman22 This was the poster above you;-)new system slips to soon ahead for older people haha;-)

  • Wonderful song. Have loved it since I first heard it years ago.

  • Nice song and video!

  • such high cross bars! old-school frame building at its best, and a lovely song to go with it! Alan

  • Cheesy video and guitar solo but god damn this tune swings

  • cheryl i LOVE this song

  • they were taken the piss out of the goverment that well know tory Tebbitt told all the jobless to get on their bikes to find work and the SC did, well thats my theory!!

  • Its the Style Council not taking its self seriously - the video must have cost £50 to make back then. Or is there some symbolic reference to racing towards their unknown destiny???

  • They were using irony. Think about it. They are/were socialists afterall.

  • Good video. I like bike riding, (and women in white dresses), so it works for me.

    --Van

  • bit of an odd clip but a great song
