  • I have been to these places in 2005-amazing

  • talibs along with the radicals in Pak army and ISI make me sick to the stomach

  • If Christian and Muslim just drops their books and fallow thier heart and thier pure consciouness all creed rally, all truth in the heart are correct.

  • They seem to need tractors more than crappy statues.

  • Marg bar Taleban

  • the problem in Afaghanistan is a deep rooted problem of the religion Islam. I'm from Afghainstan and have been living for long time there. Poor and non-educated people think the life should eb as it is. And Islam is the right thing. Islam has destryed our land and left millions of my brothers and sisters dead. Islam is like a poison which no one understand in that land. Pirrozi faghat ba sabr o shakibaiee

  • Praise god. I am christian and I would have done the exact same thing! I have never spent my money on a pice of crap buddah, dragon, shiva, elephant statue! All of those idols are gate ways to evil and will make God turn his face from you. The one True God of Jacob, Issac, Abraham.

  • no doubt you are true christian as you don't know how to respect other religon. get lost you filthy bastard.

  • @mikatan12 So much for love thy neighbor...

  • @mikatan12 Hmm, oh yeah I know what god you mean! You mean the one that said to Abraham "murder your child in cold blood", and then in an act of mercy said "Oh, I don't really want you to kill your son, I just wanted to make sure that you were afraid of me!".

Yes, because that is most certainly a god that I want to worship and adore…

I suppose you were also a great fan of the crusades?

  • @mikatan12 you sick bastard, that's human history they blew up their cos they thought their beliefs were better than someone elses, its like a sickness, how could anyone think they are that important. its disgusting

  • @kendrawhisp Dude, this has very little to do with beliefs. The Taliban were created by Pakistan, who pretend to be the "muslim brothers" of Afghanistan to simply create turmoil and chaos in Afghanistan because of Pakistan's own interests. Part of the agenda includes robbing Afghans of their identity. Religion and distortion of religion actually have little to do with it when you get to the core of the problem in Afghanistan.

  • @ibrahimiali I know what the core of the problem is, hopelessness, breeds insane religious devotion, insane religious devotion breeds destruction. I don't know what Pakistan are up to but every Muslims is saying every other Muslim is doing this that and the other thing against Islam, it's distorted Islam. Anyway, i was merely replying to that Christian fucktard that said he'd do the same for he valued his Christian beliefs over the beliefs of others, and his self importance pissed me off.

  • @ibrahimiali Infact I have a close Pakistani friend that tells me The Afghani's are insane terrorists... I just wish you guys would start debating your religion out in the open and accept everyones point of view, the quicker you guys start taking about the problems and misconceptions and reasons why your religion is being interpreted in so many fucked up ways, the quicker things will get better for everyone.

  • @kendrawhisp Of course he'll tell you that. Pakistan is a country that has attacked 3 of its 4 neighbours in the last half century, and this is a feat that can hardly be done without a good deal of propaganda and brainwashing. They were taught to hate Hindus to justify partition and genocide and that Afghans are terrorists to justify occupation of Pashtons/Baluchis. Go ahead and ask your friend what the "A" in Pakistan stands for. I feel bad for them because outside forces are using them.

  • Comment removed

  • @kendrawhisp Pakistanis should have never allowed religion to be used to justify their partition from India. But because they've been mislead into believing that they are ethnically different from the Hindus and somehow more Afghan, they've bought into the idea of a separate identity, which is one that only exists in their mind. Pakistan is to be kept intact at all costs and this is why it created the Taliban and destablised Afg. Otherwise, Afghans would reclaim occupied Pashtunistan from Pak

  • @ibrahimiali "But because they've been mislead into believing that they are ethnically different from the Hindus and somehow more Afghan" When we talk about these things I do get this impression, as though he believed himself to be somehow Arab, rather than Indian, when to me he quite clearly looks Indian. I always wondered about his name, of Arabic origin, did converts always change their names to Arabic names, or was that recent?

  • @kendrawhisp To clarify: I have no issue with Pakistanis embracing Muslim or Arabic or any other culture. I am disturbed when this is done to justify racism, war, disunity, partition and genocide. If you're buddy has fantasies of being Arabic then that's his choosing and isn't really any of my business, but it does illustrate the extent to which they've been misguided into believing that the are somehow different from the "other", the Indians and its used to justify atrocities against them.

  • @ibrahimiali "I have no issue with Pakistanis embracing Muslim" That's pretty obvious, I'm just curios about his name, he seems to believe his name indicates an important Muslim lineage. Which I greatly doubted. It's sad to think he's so confused about who he actually is, that the people of Pakistan are so confused. Thank you for your information about the situation out there, and Afghanistan, much of the unrest in that region confused me greatly and now I feel i have a better understanding.

  • Comment removed

  • @ibrahimiali "Afghans would reclaim occupied Pashtunistan from Pak" And how does this deal with the taliban? The taliban are fighting against pakistan?

  • @kendrawhisp To Pakistan's dismay, this is true: the Taliban have become a frankenstein monster to them. Initially installed to meet their interests in destablizing Afghanistan and keeping the Durand line issue off the table, the Taliban have now evolved into a pan-Pashtun and now increasingly pan-Afghan movement that threatens the stability of both countries. This is why most Afghans hold both the Taliban and Pakistan responsible for the destruction of these beautiful statues.

  • @mikatan12 You sir, are a nimrod. This is human history, and no matter what it is, it should be preserved

  • THAT BUDA COST MORE THEN 500 MILLION

  • It is not for non-buddhist to decide whether to rebuild Bamayan buddha's statue or not. We don't want barbaric muslim to rebuild to destroy it again. We buddhist will decide. It is our prerogative.

  • um...buddhist's to decide? i don't think Afghanistan has any Buddhism's anymore...so it is for Afghan people to decide to rebuild it or not. by the way no other country than Afghanistan.

(And by Afghan people i don't mean talibans.)

  • "Afghanistan has any Buddhism's anymore"

    yeah thats the saddest part.

arise and awake Afghans, purge that devil of a religion that u were forced to have. Seek humanity not Muhammed's "heaven"

  • @jsvjuggernaut So do you propose that we worship a zombie? perhaps by pretending to be cannibals and ritualistically eat his flesh?

  • @jsvjuggernaut ....Right ...and embrace....Buddhism? You're forgetting that the statues were celebrated for thousands of years under Islamic rule. Our problems began when Pakistan and the US created the Taliban. If the world can keep its governments in check and from creating puppet regimes and fake versions of our beloved religion, we'll be just fine. But part of the strategy is for these governments to keep their citizens in the dark. Thus, I don't blame you entirely for your ignorance.

  • hi thanks 4 this video

and i relly love this video

  • Buddha is God not allah...

  • for destroying buddha statues, you will feel the punishments in time to come.

  • fuck pashton and karzai

  • @laghshom why all pashtons??? (Not all pashtons are taliban), just say fuck those who are responsible for destroying not just bamian but Afghanistan too......... Peace to Bamian and the rest of Afghanistan!!!!!

  • @Asadullah000 I absolutely agree, I think they are probably Iranian or Pakistani agents trying to create divisions among Afghans.

  • @laghshom You're probably an Iranian or Pakistani agent trying to create divisions among Afghans. Afghanistan de tolo gad kor dai (Afghanistan's everyone's common house) and this includes the Hazaras, Uzbeks and Darizobons. I also think Karzai is doing a bad job but I love Pashtons.

  • why are you guys mixing pakistan and indiens in this videos, this is 100% about afghanista bamiyan and it is your foolishness that you guys are still enemies, and the world is enjoying you guys coz both of you are atomic powers and GOD forbit if war begins both of you will be distroyed, think about peace and love not war man, coz in war every one loose.

    bye

  • there is no such thing which has been high lighted about apakistan in this video, so stop your dirty politics and watch the beautiful hazarajat.

  • WORD@007.

  • @007avner ...and Afghans are right back with you! We LOVE India. Most of us are muslims and we love our religion very much but we LOVE India, including all of its Hindus. Together, we must bring peace to our region and this has to begin with undoing the propaganda that has been used to brainwash the majority of our Pakistani brothers and sisters who have been misguided into believing that religion should be used to kill Hindus, break up India and occupy Afghans. Long live Afghanistan & India.

  • I wish my beautiful nation be able to live like many other people in the world. I wish give them a chance.

when i see my people suffering for centuries and very doutbful that there is not God exist.

  • May God be with the people of Afghanistan and Bamiyan.

Also, may God keep these people safe and heal/restore their once beautiful and peaceful country.

  • im going 2 go afghanistan this year i cant wait im so facinated by this beautiful country and the people, the history is amasing aswell

  • fuck those who tries to destroy afghanistan it is such a beautiful land

  • Sabrina im sure many of afghanistan's problems are due to of todays radical Islam. If religion never existed in Afghanistan im positive that such a great land would prosper from its sights, the beauty of its people, and culture. Im an afghan and love seeing how beautiful Afghanistan once was. I'll I can say is Down with the Taliban, and the evil of religion.

  • maybe i don't know but islam means peace people like taliban gives a different image of islam.

  • u have right damn them,,, afghanistan have the greatest culture and hitory

  • ufff this is so saddening those budda statues had nothing to do with islam why did they destroy them??? whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??? fuck talibans they are retarded people they don't know the value of historical pieaces like this, it was so uniq.

  • It's Buddh-ISTS, the followers, not the Buddha himself who bows for statues and sacrifices to them. So if the feelings of Buddhists are hurt, it is feelings of a lifestyle that bows for statues, contrary to the lifestyle of Buddha himself. If people are spiritually strong and steadfast, they don't need any statue to be religious.

  • you wont understand unless you are a buddhist yourself we do not pray to a lifless sculptured stone we pray to the Buddha to respect his teachings thethe statues are built to respect his tachings and himself, if such a staue is blown up we get sad because hes our teacher and our leader and a great monument built in his name was destroyed, how would you feel if the al aqsa mosque was completely obliterated.

  • yes my mother

    iam a tajik your son

i will protect you from satans

    we will fuck taliban

  • As a Buddhist I wept when I saw the destruction of this statue, its not just the religious significance of the great monument that makes me sad but also the historical value it is monument to the culture of a once proud and strong people who are now destroyed

  • Just made me cry to know how beautiful Bamiyan used to be!

    Proud to be Hazara

  • Long life Hazaras and our great history.

  • fuck the taliban or Arabian ..

  • This was the only reason that motivated me to be a Buddhist. By becoming a Buddhist I wanted say sorry for this great damage made by those who say they are Islamic. I born as a Muslim-Islamic, now I am a Muslim-Buddhist. Truly when I come into Buddhism, I leaned to respect other people and cultures more than even before. This is the living peace and the path to peace. More than everything I met the real Allah in Buddhism. And my whole Family too.

  • Great its 1st time that i ave heard Muslim-buddhist... can u just explain hw does work?

  • well, when the Changaz Khan's army came to Afghanistan they were buddhist and they bult these statues and since then it had been there, but the people converted to Islam.

  • what! no, our people, Afghanistan were buddhist for a loooong time, they built these statues and carved many things, then they converted to islam, then for a long time, THEN mongolians invaded afghanistan.

  • Genghiz Khan and most of his army was Shaman, not Bhuddist. The statues are far older, they date at least from the Kushan era, the Kushan dynasty ruled in Khorasan and the Indus valley from 30 - 240 AD. They were originally from what is now Mongolia, Indo European people, driven west finally settling in what is now Afghanistan. Their kingdom was taken over by the Huna/Alchon tribe from central Asia around 475 AD.

  • waooooooooooooooo nice Video i really want to request hazara people who living in Bamayan they Must be Proud of that they have a old History in the world.

    Long live Hazara.

  • Beautiful documentary Nadene!

But perhaps you needed more study to know Mullah Omer's intentions about the statues. Nancy's comments are questionable.

'Virtually everything needs emergency consolidation" very true.

  • Destroying an image of Peace (Buddha) makes my heart weap and pity those who have conceived in destroying such. This means that not even the Buddha can help them... and they are doomed to their own mindset. Destruction means the impermanence of anything which buddhist firmly believe, defacing the statute won't shake the truth but rather affirm.

  • I cry everytime when I remember and see the carnage of what they did to my country, heritage and to such a sacred site. They are the WORST human beings! They killed innocent people, stole artifacts from museums and then blew up everything else.

  • Welcome to 21st century, u stone age pimp!

  • They want to rule the 21st century world with a 6th century ideology and so far... all they have brought about is destruction

  • Way the old english lady is againts rebuilding of budha and way she is a lover of mullah omar

  • nice important clip. Bamiyan, is waiting a thousand to glory again. One day, the darkness of delosion. No respect our ancestor. sorry for that fools.

  • fantastic documentary film by aljazeera that is really commendable, highlighting the civilization and art of hazara people whose ancestors carved the great statues.

thanks to aljazeera and all the team to rebuild it. specially to the japanese artist.

  • Well done AlJazeera. Love ya for this

  • The Buddha of Bamyan is a history of Local people of Bamyan who is Hazara and they must be Proud of their History.

and i think that must be the basic reason behind the distruction of the Buddha of Bamyan.

if it would be belong to Tajiks or Pustun it would not be destoryed and i am warried about the Future of Afghanistan.... i think as the Past of Afghanistan was Black the Future is also looking like that

  • The desecration of human life is of course the biggest horror of any war, but the loss of these Buddha's in Afghanistan and the ancient Mosque's in Iraq made me weep. I only just watched the special on PBS, so incredibly beautiful, I would love to travel there. I wish them peace. Why can we not respect another's belief even if we disagree?

  • repect to u

  • and to you as well

  • WTG AlJazeerEnglish. Thank You for this brief but great little documentary
