i just feel sorry for the child and i would suggest it would be very necessary if the people around him would really try to understand and accept this kid,it's normal actually i dont know why people never put themselves a times in other people shoes?i just blame the society and of schools the teachers too,i just cant help it but feel for these kid and the parent...but i can as well see a great future for these kid.
I hope that the parents understand that the childs understanding of himself or herself is what matters most. hopefully whichever doctors get involved understand that the child is the only person who has a right to decide what is chosen for his/her self. Now it is true that many IS affected people are happy as women, but want to remind people that just as many are happy as men.
funny how the identity of this child has been protected! they have shown his dad's face; told that they live in South Africa...what is hidden? Oh, they told of his tribe as well! Bring him to America/ San Francisco and he will be loved and accepted
i am not quite sure how the neighborhood knows that this child is inter-sexed. If the parents dressed him/her as a boy or girl, how does anyone know any different unless family is talking. Uggh! And operating on this child to assign a sex is awful. Wait until he or she is old enough to decide what he/she wants to be.
societal ignorance is a major huge problem here....why would heads of schools act like beasts to this child's dilemma? its wrong and this requires a specific policy statement by the education ministry...he had no choice over this matter!
all those harassing him including doctors and H/Ms need to be named!
corrective surgery is not the answer.....society is the problem here..not the child. What is wrong with being born this way? Nothing! Absolutely Nothing! But society (WE human beings) force gender identity on ourselves. I cannot even imagine what kind of psychological turmoil this poor kid is going through.....surgery is likely to make it worse...especially if the wrong gender is chosen (it's not all about genitalia ...the mind is part of the equation too)
@se1nl1fe Good one, I was also wondering the same too. The society as well as medicine has imposed to us that anything that deviates from either sex is wrong.
@se1nl1fe - did you read about that Canadian couple that decided that they will not reveal the sex of their child beyond the immediate family members? I wish it happened more quickly than the 10-12 years that it takes before the gender starts to manifest itself physically. The child is even named Storm - which I think is a uni-gender name.

I'm confused about the "visitor" who noticed the child was "different" when the parents did not. What was really going on?
