but in reality os boot up means nothing, it has to check everything in the registry & enviroment varibles new os's are gonna be slower cuz of that & PnP device drivers loading up. server os's are the most efficient but they take the longest to boot. DC can take minutes
I hear a lot of ppl complain about Vista sux. I just bought an Acer PC with Vista Home Premium and omg its fast! The FiOS internet flies! I think ppl tend to underestimate Acer PC's thinking they are "cheap". They are affordable, but also good quality. So I think it all depends on the hardware that determines the speed of your OS.
lol, slow laptops. My PC actually boots faster with Vista, than it did with XP MCE, and its the same hardware, the only difference, is I have a newer GFX card than before.
i just think that the vista computer might be trying to open programs at that one screen. imo i love XP vista gits annoying with a lot of stuff dont wana go into it to mutch haha! and i dont want to learn a new set up when xp runs better in a lot of things
thay might have the same stats but did you close out all start up programd on both computers? run "msconfig" i bleave it is then go to your startup tab and uncheck them all for both computers then redo this test (if
Sloppy performance is attributed to poor hardware, compatibility is due to the revolutionary and long delayed kernel upgrade. (My major is computer engineering) Compatibility problem is also because of incompetent third party programmers writing shit code. For example, Nvidia was responsible for 30% percent of all Vista crashes. Other features include: High res icon, text, search, dreamscene, superfetch, sidebar, speech, solutions, disk management, etc
Yes... but comparing windows 3.1 and xp or vista is not the same as comparing XP to vista. Name me a feature of Vista that cannot be done on XP that is groundbreaking enough to warrant sloppy performance and poor compatibility. Vista will be fine... just not yet and not on the average system by today's standards. Most of today's hardware is not ready for Vista.

Control Alt delete interrupts everything.

My vista takes 1 minute and 17 seconds to completly boot up (with the account selected).
Have you tried defragmenting that vista?
yoshifanatic 3 years ago
Both computers are of identical specs. Both are turn on at almost the same time - sorry, got only one hand, the other is holding the camera.
yezee 3 years ago
u should press the on button at the same time inorder to test it out

Exactly what people need to see. BTW, what are the specs on both computers? are they identical?
ericaleigh777 3 years ago
That's not the right question to ask. Windows 3.1 boots up in a couple of seconds.

Xp cannot run as a UPNP/DLNA client. I want to access media shares but no matter what it's just not possible.
There are a lot more things that vista was made to address. Google it.

Windows 3.1 wasn't an operating system it was a dos mask! What are you, some kind of wannabe computer nerd?
