@jphelpsify like seriously, though!! It's impossible to listen to this once. Absolutely impossible. And if I ever make it through this song without tearing up, it will be a miracle.
I love how, at concerts... It's become clockwork to yell in triumph after "Have trouble sleeping at night..." Both times I saw tMG, I had the pleasure of hearing this song. and each time, cheers in appreciation of tops lyricism. "FUCK YEAH!"
@NickNeedsAUsername It isn't on an album. To the best of my knowledge, it was only performed live, as is the case with many of the best tMG songs. Hope this helps.
made this into an mp3 for mountain goats on the go (tinyurl . com / 3fjwduq) [for some reason could post a link as one so just take out the spaces and viola]
This song is the type of song that anyone who owns a guitar has strummed out at least once in their life... JD is so straightforward and amazing, I love that man.
I saw them in Durham with my brother, and JD called me out in front of everybody for texting a friend so I could brag to him as this song was being introduced. I have never come as close to pissing my pants as I did that day since I was a small child.
"It's good to be young but let's not kid ourselves it's better to pass on through those years and come out the other side with our hearts still beating having stared down demons and come back breathing" So good.
I was here! He was so good, I got goosebumps and I couldn't stop smiling. I wish the entire performance was standing room only. Remember when he said it was funnier/better/easier (can't remember exactly) to make people feel uncomfortable when they're standing?
Four chords, simple lyrics--and a song that, as John Green says, could quite possibly save lives. I am not humbled by much, but this bastard manages to do it. Dear JD, never stop being awesome.
new favorite song. thanks i needed that

Everytime I think John's songwriting can't amaze me any more, I dig up something like this. Can anyone tell me which album this is from?

Great song... the simplicity seems like a throwback to earlier M.G. stuff. I wonder why it's not gonna be on the next album...
