  • Hi I recently jus bought a Etti 150A Opto but aft I fix e cap board n try it out.. When I connect my esc power it got spark comin out but my esc not working n no tone or sound comin out!!! :-( pls advice..

  • @Donng75 : problem solved via PM. Have fun with the controller Donng75.

  • AHA! Now it comes to light. We look at the rotation direction of the prop from the back! Hehe. Thanks David. Fun conversation.

  • Anytime Jim , anytime ;-)

  • I'm amazed. All of the Octura props, etc. are Left hand turning unless you specially order a right turning (clockwise) prop and they are not easy to find. Let me get this straight, if you are looking at the prop from the back of the boat, is it turning to the right or the left? Ours are ALWAYS turning to the left.

  • Looking at the back of the boat , all props turn left indeed.

But the official way of checking a prop's direction is looking to the front of a boat. So in this case our props turn right/clockwise :-)

  • so you have to set the rotation direction also since our motors turn counter clockwise?

  • No Jim , the opposite is true however. Our boat's motors all spin clockwise. A motor's direction is always seen looking at the motor with the back bearing plate closest to us , so our motors spin in the clockwise direction meaning to the right.

That's why Graupner K props 2318.xx that are left props always have the L on them like this 2318.45L. These L ( left turning ) props are mostly used for twin motor setups.

  • David, good stuff! Do you normally have to set the timing and PWM for your motors as well or is the Etti self sensing in that regard? Do you know what the default settings are on the ETTI 150?

  • Hi Jim,

The PWM is normally set to 16K and this is the default setting.

    Default settings :

*cutoff voltage : no cut off

    *trottle options : automatic calibration

    *brake options : no brake

    *rotor rotation : right hand/clockwise

    *timing : 2° for 2-pole motors

    *PWM option : 16K

  • Hi! Grate vid! Do i cant understan how u can do it so fast? I was wandring if the etti 150 cuts off if over heated? I measured min at 95 c at the most .

Im just afraid that il burn it. hehe

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Yes they cut off when overheated. Use sufficient water cooling with a good strong water flow and it will be OK.

95°C is VERY HIGH , stop running your boat on this temperature ! My 150A etti esc keeps cold , no heat whatsoever.

  • Okay. Oops :S Thanks man! Hmm..

I hav one tupe from the rudder tats splits out to 2.

Iv sin som that puts a tube in the end of the esc som it gos in and out on the same side. is that bether for cooling perhaps? what temp should it stay at?

And on question more :P Whats the extra cabel for? thers a coupling in the middle of the ese.

Thanks man! Iv traid to find som info end stuf on the etti but i cant faind anything. Iv just build my first boat :)

  • water from the rudder must first go to the esc and secondly to the motor , so the cold water goes to the esc first. Don't split it in 2 ! Use only 1 tube from esc to motor. You will get much lower temperature on the esc. try to keep the esc under 60°C and you will be OK. What boat and motor and batteries do you have ?

  • Yah thats what iv dun. Okay. so you say. but i cant fully see what diferens it mayks if isplitt so the whater gos trugh the esc on both sids rater then around? whell i cant drive now with my at min 80 *C Il try one tube then. Iv got v 32" no name and a Ammo Motor 2300kv 36-50 and i runn intellect 14/12 cells.

What shuld the pwm option on the esc be at? 8 16 or 32k?? i think the rpm is a litle lo maby.

And again so thankful for your help!

  • 32" V mono with 2300kv on 12 cells intellict should be OK. Must be a fast boat :-)

The Ammo motor is a 2 pole motor , so keep the pwm option in default setting of 16K and timing also in default setting of 2°

I use the 150A esc in my 30" mono on 6S2P A123 batteries ,goes really well.

Good luck with your boat & esc.

  • Okah :) Hehe. Its ot that fast :/ but maby when all is right it wil be. i hope.

Thanks for all your help. il video response you

when the boat is 100% ;)

  • Allright ;-)

  • Hi again :P Whats the extra cabel for? thers a coupling in the middle of the ese?

    Sorry for bothering you :P

  • Indeed , the extra cable can be attached to the coupling. The cable can be used with the optional ETTI power analyzer item number E006 on the etti(dot)com(dot)hk website. This cable comes with every esc free of charge.

  • Hi, yes I have talked to Dee. The program card is still in the works. It will come , don't worry. Not any time soon though , that's why I made this video.

  • Have you talked to Dee at Etti about a program card? I mentioned that to him a long time ago but never heard any more.
