  • Who made eyecontact?

  • 9 people treat us like cattle

  • Share this. Lets us make this true words of wisdom VIRAL! SO EVERY HUMAN BEING CAN HEAR THESE HEARTOUCHING WORDS AND JOIN THE FIGHT!

  • Instead of people saying grace before they eat, they should say part of this speech instead.

  • Charlie Chaplin..even though this is a film and I just met you...I would like you to be our leader.

  • I CRY EVERYTIME

  • @calloway322 I was gonna say when the music picks up to just limit the volume or the gain... but that probably works better. This is SUCH a powerful speech with a PERFECT song to go to it, and can be made so much better. Either way, thumbs on your comment and thumbs on the vid

  • 'The Great Dictator' should be re-released with this incorperated into it.

  • Lord almighty..

  • I didn't know people combined this already.for weeks. I have been playing both youtube videios matching them up at this moment, because the sound..the feeling..is helping me. I lost my best friend, my gf cheated on me, and my mother is dying...I've never cried so much in these few weeks than I have in my whole life as I never cry. this...this combination makes me feel human. I just want to let you know... this..this moment..

    is keeping me alive..thank you.

  • @HippieTalks definitely the most heartfelt comment i've gotten. i'm glad this could help you. i've been in some pretty shitty situations lately as well, so i feel you. best of luck to you and just know, things will get better.

  • @HippieTalks

Keep your smile up, keep sending as much love around as you could, and the universe will send it back at you! Good luck brother of earth!

  • Damn...

  • So, I think I'll have to disagree with everyone stating that the music detracts from this absolutely profound and momentous monologue in that if anything, the music compliments and accentuates the entire speech. While I would not change the film for any reason because it is absolutely perfect, that is not to say that the two cannot be combined to be just as awe-inspiring as Chaplin had originally intended. It will never be more, but it is most certainly not lesser in any way.

  • This is so moving and inspiring, our evolution as human beings as become our greatest down fall. As technology moves forward so does the way we hate and harm one another.Too think of a world where we are united and progress as equals is not an impossible dream. But human beings have been known to overcome challenges such as these, so why is this task harder than any other of man's accomplishments? Why is it that men die over disagreement? Love, but how do you a men that is holding a gun to you?

  • Music distracts & ruins the purposely unscored monologue, which he toiled for moths over and filmed over & over again until he got it perfect.

  • @amaxamon This is but of course made by someone who has a different perspective and feels that a rolling theatrical and emotional score would do this justice. The person who compiled this isn't Charlie Chaplain. I like this one a lot - in fact, the music even allows me to remember the speech even better, it is far more striking to me and affects me greater than if it had no score.

  • the music is too loud at times

  • Shame about invoking the imaginary god, who is (if you believe in nonsense) responsible for all this shite in the first place. Take god out of this speach and it is as true today as it was, when Charlie boy first said it! Inception=class film :-)

  • @garysgreat he never mentioned god. Not once. He said science and reason not faith and misunderstanding. This is perhaps the best speech ever made in a movie. It perfectly reflects the capitalistic oppression of today just as it relfected the totilitarian problem of that era. Oppression of all kinds should be destroyed, no matter what system it comes under.

  • @joekopor well sorry he did lol but he was not using god as that reference. He meant that if it is a holy kingdom of heaven, a perfect kingdom, then it is within ALL men, not just a few. In other words he meant this earth, this life, is meant for all men, that all are equal. I don't think he was specifically using the kingdom of god in a religious sense, more of in a uniting, equal sense.

  • @joekopor please explain how Capitalism is a form of oppression - in a free (capitalist) economy, people participate in voluntary exchanges, whether it's goods for goods or labor for money, etc. Nobody is forced to do anything. If you believe the capitalist (entrepreneur) is an exploiter because he makes a profit, then please learn some credible economic theory. If you believe the U.S. is an example of "oppressive capitalism", think again - the U.S. has become essentially a Fascist economy.

  • To everyone here, I'm sorry - I've destroyed the 'Replay' button from over-use.

  • thats just... beauiful

  • @28deadbeats you really ought to get spell check, but yes, it is beauTiful

  • type "let us all unite" in youtube search!

  • this overpowered music just perfects the speech.

this is the best speech I have ever heard.......

  • One more video with badly attached music.. Mine is still better..

  • speechless ...

  • Really good, very emotional! the soundtrack was a bit too loud

  • awesome

  • That was awesome

  • this is the best speech

  • i dont care who you are... i wont stop listening to this combo till we conquere belgium!!!!!

  • your video is featured on WE ARE REPLICANTS :) good job!

    wearereplicants.wordpress . com/2011/06/14/ charlie-chaplin-vs-inception/

  • Well done! Thanks a lot for putting this together. Powerful words that still hold true today.

  • its well done but how it's hard to be inspired by hitler haha i'm trying to look past the stache but I can't

  • @TownPiligan14 not sure if trolling

  • Well done! Thanks a lot for putting this together. Powerful words that still hold true today.

  • the user DerPestmann made almost the same video in dic 2010

  • True cinema. Nice break from all this Justin Bieber shit coming out.

  • That was amazing....that music was made for that speech.

  • ...damn.

  • I feel sorry for the people who dislike this. I start my days with this video....

  • Chaplin was always ahead of his time, who knew a speech from 1940 would be so relevant 71 years later.

  • well it's just a progression like zimmer does so well, but I think something like "Les Chevaliers de Sangreal" (da vinci code) would work as well ;)

  • Awesome!

  • Seven people think that the speech should be left as Chaplin himself intented it, without music, because it doesn't need any, it is powerfull enough on its own

  • @MararPatrunjica Yes but there are plenty of versions of the original on youtube if you are so inclined to view them. If you're looking for an awesome experiment, this is the one to watch.

  • Six people have machineminds and machinehearts.

  • This is pretty awesome.

  • YOU ARE NOT CATTLE! YOU ARE MEEEN!

  • There are so many versions of this now, but this one is synced so perfectly. The timing is just fantastic. I prefer this over even the now many HD versions. Well done my friend.

  • @natetheboywhocant i totally agree. the pace, power and mood syncing is perfect. Nicely done!

  • I've shown this to a bunch of friends. I'm telling you. This vid is going to get over a million.

  • not sure how to feel about the mix, but the film itself is still amazing.

  • In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden.

  • @raezor82 Corporate influence of the government is the problem.

  • I cried. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

  • Look up! Look up! The clouds are lifting - the sun is breaking through. We are coming out of the darkness into the light. We are coming into a new world. A kind new world where men will rise above their hate and brutality.

The soul of man has been given wings - and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow - into the light of hope - into the future, that glorious future that belongs to you, to me and to all of us. Look up. Look up.

  • Not sure if you realise the irony, but it was Joseph Goebbels who said, "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

    Nice work though :)

  • @F3ngles so...which part of it is ironic? that chaplin's parodying hitler? or something else?

  • Comment removed

  • @F3ngles oh i see. looks more like coincidence than irony. still clever though.

  • The original:

    com/watch?v=NXsoakk3GRk

  • that about sums it up, then & now - powerful music

  • one of the most powerful things i have seen in a long time :) great job.

  • Awesome! Thanks for making a video of this, it was annoying trying to do this with separate vids.

  • It made my breath catch in my throat. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. I've never heard this speech before, and it's so powerful because it's so relevant today. The music helps it burrow into the brain through the ear and STICK to the inside of your skull. This whole speech is something everyone should listen to and HEAR, and UNDERSTAND.

    Thank you.

  • third time ive watched this now.

  • How can anyone dislike this...this is the most amazing thing ive seen all day

  • Check out Charlie Chaplin vs. Inception HD version on my channe. peace out.

  • Justin Beaver is GAy? Ask Charlie!?! Its an epic question, which needs an epic music- style! xD

  • is Hiter the good guy now?

  • @danthemango No, you'd have to watch the whole thing to understand. The movie tried to ridicule Hitler. It's a comedy of mistaken identities and a truly hilarious one. Many critics argued that this speech at the end sounded like a lecture, since Chaplin suddenly dropped his comic persona and started getting serious. Once you see the movie you do realize the speech is discordant with the film's tone. But I loved it, it was daring and inspired. Chaplin's own views, spoken by the man himself.

  • @danthemango And mind you, this film was made before the horrors of the Holocaust began to be known. Afterwards I dont think Chaplin or anybody else would have even remotely considered Hitler a subject of comedy or ridicule, only of deep, deep loathing. Still, through satire, it touched on important issues, and it offered a moving portrayal of Jews and their plight. I think it's a movie everyone should see, this speech being one of the reasons. AND it is hilarious.

  • @danthemango

    lol wut?

  • You can hardly hear him over the music.

  • that piece of hair in the middle over his forehead, is just dying to swing over.

  • This fits perfectly!

  • Please remix this with the music level down about 20%. Great idea, but the music overpowers the words in spots.

  • thx cherno jobatey

  • I'm in tears

  • @BFrii did i break them? i think not sir. i said that i got the idea from FOURCHAN. that's all. i think you need to review rules 1 & 2 yourself. :)

  • @dane3445 Anon would still disprove

  • @BFrii >implying anonymous is a collective and controlled entity

    kill yourself

  • @dane3445 Anon will still disapprove

  • @BFrii Applies to raids only, faggot

  • @IamDayoldHate Going around talking about it in general is why the cancer is spreading.

  • @BFrii They only apply during raids. Go back to /b/.

  • @BFrii you talk about rules 1 and 2 but your wallpaper is filled with B. tardddddd

  • @BFrii They only apply to raids faggot !

  • Thank you, this speaks my heart. This is what I try to teach my students. So much meaning and goodness!

  • I'll recombine them and compress the time track so it doesn't drown out Chaplin's voice at that one part.

  • @quartercherries Are you sure it is not better to drown out Charlie's speech? That kind of talk got Charlie ostracized from America.

  • @cheddyrod yeah, it was anarchist talk, stupid americans don't even know what is good for them

  • Beautiful...

  • They say that Hitler managed to get a copy of this film 'The great Dictator'...

After watching the speech he apparently demanded his projectionist to play it again.

I hope if that evil man managed to see some good through Charlie's speech! :)

  • wow, i didn't think this would actually get kinda popular. thank you everyone! i understand the audio overpowers Charlie's voice, but i put these together for the purpose of not having to play the videos together yourself. thank you again!

  • @dane3445 Yeah, it got a little popular because Jhonen Vasquez linked your video from his Twitter.

  • @dane3445 I prefer the almost over powering music... it really makes it more intense... I've listened to other versions and they aren't as good

  • I am not a machine man!

  • Seriously, just play with the music volume and you've got an awesome video.

  • Absolutely amazing. I love that speech. Long live democracy! Let us all UNITE!

  • I will admit that i cried slightly. What can I say, I'm a sucker for inspirational speeches of human existence and civility. If that makes me a sap for good editing and fantastic writing, (and an amazing score) ... then I'm a sap :)

  • @bluebeanbaby a socially awkward penguin? scnr

  • @Huzzabuzza lol

  • Two people won't fight to fulfill that promise.

  • Liquid awesome.

  • I miss Charlie Chaplin.

  • Very impressive !!!

  • Loved it, thanks dane

  • amazing video, cant stop watching it,

  • Has he got a glass eye....His right one, seems dead.

  • The speech was amazing, but like others said, you have to turn the volume down on the music, even tho it went good with it, there were times when it was hard to hear the speech.

  • You should put the "Look up Hannah" bit in there too.

  • one dislike? really? who can dislike this?!.....

  • I guess Charlie Chaplin was pretty deep :D :D

  • Good God, that music goes perfectly with this. One of the best (if not THE best) movie speeches of all time, made even better.

  • i agree with the toning down of the music, but it is quite amazing.

  • but the fuck versus?????

    it isn't a versus

    it's a coop

or is the music fighting the hitler chaplin ???

  • @MrChocodemon

    ................HUH ??

  • Nice poor quality copy, bro.

    watch?v=NXsoakk3GRk

    this is from months ago.

  • I hear if you mute it and put on dark side of the moon, it syncs up perfectly.

  • amazing...dude that was...amazing

  • I'm sorry, but Chaplin's speech does not need music to emphasize its theme. It honestly makes it corny, and distorts the beauty of the film.

  • Goosebumps.

  • i love this. my only critique is that the music overpowers Chaplin's speech toward the end. i was straining to hear what he was saying. i'd love to see a version where it's toned down a bit to fit better with his speech.

  • This need more likes. This is awesome...

  • oh my god. perfect

  • "Time" goes with any YouTube video that's at all epic.

    Seriously, try it.

  • They really do go together. Great job on the edit.

  • great stuff, could have turned the music down a little in some parts though

  • @EastenNinja yep, the music should be turned down at the end. I hardly got anything at that time.... hmmmmmm

  • Sooo... 4chan sent you? Huh.

  • @JesterSK13 whether or not, good thing they chose to send.

  • I'm super glad that Jhonen Vasquez linked this on his site! This is lovely!

  • UNITE!!!!

  • awesome

  • wow...

  • thanks bro

  • Awesome...
