@19karl16 Simply a Fender Jazz Bass directly played into the channel strip with some stereo chorus. Peter Hook normally plays higher notes on the bass. He plays "guitar melodies" rather than a bass fundament. I assume that's the whole trick. Thanks!
@MrBrombomb I don't know. In this video Peter Hook uses a suitcase kit. On stage i also saw him with SDSV pads. I have't seen Stephen Morris playing any Simmons gear as well.
you are right. The basic rythm originally comes from some Oberheim gear I guess, but I thought somehow this track would be qualified to do make a demo. In fact New Order did use Simmons sounds on Blue Monday, but only some effect sounds triggered by Peter Hook
@projectgenocide The drummachine on 'Blue Monday' was indeed an Oberheim DMX. Bass line came from a Moog Source and most other synth sounds from a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5.
that basskick sounds like flapping your ears , im sure blue monday would never been a hit when a simmonds would have been used, it was of course the Oberheim dmx that made the original, by the way , new order stole the idea of the blue monday kick roll from giorgio moroders Our love , good use of the sds as gated drums was robert palmers you are in my system (a cover from the band the system)
if I don't check by every two days, I'm missing all the new stuff! Thanks for the video and playing stuff lby hand that was a rhythm computer in the original - probably boring for you, but very skillful! Am curious to see the next video and the next lovely piece of equipment you'll show to us all!
Super nice demo of Musicaid + Simmons! Thanks!

Awesome drum session. You looked like you were in the zone jamming with simmons set. Just watching this makes me miss the 80's.

I wish they would still make drum pads that looked like this. It was a cool look. Well, Dynacord made something that look similar a while back.

Come to think of it, I believe Stephen Morris used Roland electronic drums with a Premier drum kit & Paiste cymbals.

I know that Peter Hook used a Simmons multi-pad box on "The Perfect Kiss" , but did drummer Stephen Morris ever use Simmons drums?

Hi, Love your cover of this song..
Im am soon to be the proud owner of a Simmons kit (already own 2 Tama Techstar's) and I would like to try this cover out with a double pedal.
Would you like to share the "background" music you made for this track? Then I don't have to drumalong the original song.

I love the clap trap sound. Phil Collins uses it very well during his solos with Genesis.

Hello from Thierry EPPHERRE (France) Very good demo and very good playing....
These days,I am trying again my analog brains (SDS8,Tama TS305,Pearl DRX1...)
They are very interesting but my problem is that I am not a good drummer!
I am really more competent on building/repairing/modifying drum modules than on playing....
See you soon and I hope you will make other videos (SDS7,SDS8,SDS9.....) Thierry EPPHERRE
