I go to a small church and my pastor doesn't receive any payment at all from tithes. She has her own job besides being a pastor and that's where her income comes from. Everyone at our church appreciates our pastor and the work she does for us, and we aspire to one day be able to give her steady salary so that she won't have to essentially work two jobs. Is it so wrong for a pastor to be blessed by the congregation? And since churches are non-profit, is it so wrong for people to pay tithes?

The new testament is full of scriptures where Paul stated he worked so that he would not be a burden to the people. If Paul worked back then, these modern day pastors can work. I believe wholeheartedly in giving, but I give what I can, not what someone else tells me I should. Study your bible and you'll see. Tithing went when the law was fulfilled.

Malachi was written and addressed to the Priesthood of the Old Testament (Mal.2:1), who were told by God that they, THE PRIESTHOOD, was to bring a "tithe of the tithe" into the storehouse/temple (Nehemiah 10:38) which they evidently were not doing. I go to a small church and my pastor doesn't receive any payment at all from tithes. She has her own job besides being a pastor and that's where her income comes from. Everyone at our church appreciates our pastor and the work she does for us, and we aspire to one day be able to give her steady salary so that she won't have to essentially work two jobs. Is it so wrong for a pastor to be blessed by the congregation? And since churches are non-profit, is it so wrong for people to pay tithes?

The new testament is full of scriptures where Paul stated he worked so that he would not be a burden to the people. If Paul worked back then, these modern day pastors can work. Malachi was written and addressed to the Priesthood of the Old Testament (Mal.2:1), who were told by God that they, THE PRIESTHOOD, was to bring a "tithe of the tithe" into the storehouse/temple (Nehemiah 10:38) which they evidently were not doing.
