Heh yup, its crazy, its 1,70 per liter now though, and 1 euro of that is tax... bastards! :P

Wages are higher here though and groceries significantly cheaper, so in the end the cost of life pretty much balances out compared to the US ;)

Love Schiphol btw, clean and efficient. My grandfather used to take me to the airport and the spectator deck. Back in the days they had a simulator there which I used to love. Not sure its gone though, it was a real crowd pleaser and probably still is.

I like Schiphol - very relaxing concourses in the terminal. And the security people - they mean business - but actually apologise for taking your suitcase apart.

I love the announcements when people are late for flights. "Mr Smith, you're flight is boarding. Please be at gate 1 now or it leaves without you.' Very motivating.

But once I was traveling around and ran low on gas, no gas station in the area would accept the coupons and I had to pay full price... I only got enough to get be back. Ouch!

It's very nice to go to the outdoor platform and see the planes so close. We can't do that anymore and I think if I walked around filming in our airport I would surely be at least followed and observed by authorities. 911 changed everything...so very nice to have a leisurely trip to the airport for me...and, without knowing your language...still, very easy to hear your son say he had a wonderful day, too.

I got a speeding ticket on that highway in the first part of the video! We were running late to catch our flight to England and on to the US. I was only going a bit over the speed limit but I was the only car around (very early in the morning) and the radar (not a real cop) caught me! We loved Amsterdam and Holland! peace2u. eric

I got the notice about a month later that they had billed it to my credit card! wow! but yes, we DID love it! we stayed at a little campground just outside of town (I think to the East. I have not been here before...but it is much like many of the airports I have been too...just not as crowded. I like the way they have taken pieces of an airplane and made them a part of the decor, and available for close inspection.Very cool for a small boy (and us big ones too!). Petrol costs 1.42 Euros, which is 2 U.S. Dollars.

Diesel costs 1.05 Euros, which is 1.48 USD.

And LPG costs 0.60 euros, which is 0.85 USD.

But that is the price per liter !

A liter is 0.26 gallons ...

But for our standards it's véry expensive to fill the gastank...

It is expensive by any standard! I bought petrol Friday...$2.27/gallon (approx 4 liters) . Diesel is more,about $3/gallon.This might explain to you why so much fuel is used in the US...
