Me and my friends jammed to this while playing Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, Lord of the Rings Card Game, Magic: the Gathering and World of Warcraft :)
Teddy looks a bit like he's afraid to bent or something. When he turns arount he doesn't move his head but just turns his entire body and he barely opens his mouth.
I always wondered if Hayley had a little maori in her because of her cheek bones and eye shap. Although I know she is from New Zealand so it's possible, but she obviously is Irish too.
Great Song, Great singer in Hayley, great stage show! Only problem is, someone please tell Teddy to get the stick outta his arse and EMOTE...TEDDY EMOTE....

It's not about (the meaning of) this maori song, my comment is about the lack of warmth she sings it with. Go search for another version of this song and you'll find a poor quality, but far more warm version of it, from someone else...
I deeply respect the song itself and whatever it may mean to people.

TonyForsyth:
She appeals to fake ideas in a fake world and fake self esteem. In short: she lacks human emotion. If you can not see that it tells something about yourself, the quality of your life (I'm not judging, I'm only mirroring).
Jealous is a word from your world, not mine.
Modern producers do not understand emotion anymore. They don't make stars, they only make "milking cows" (average taste for the average people, where the bulk of money is...)
I detect a degree of disatisfaction within yourself that actually makes me sad for you. Your bitterness toward this gifted child is a desperate cry for some sort of perceived deficiency within yourself. Were you to seek help, I'm certain you could work through this.
i had this exact song playing in the church as i walked up the aisle with my dad, stunning!!!!we played it from this site thru a professional sound system.....not a dry eye in the church!!! these two are excellent together.thanks for putting it up,x
Teddy Tahu Rhodes is related to the famous Rhodes family of Canterbury (a farming region in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand) who initially founded the city of Christchurch, about 200 years ago.
Hayley Westenra is also from my hometown Christchurch, New Zealand. Her voice is less operatic in tone, but Hayley has forged for herself an international career in "Pop Opera", and has sung for Presidents and Royalty.
Teddy is a 42 year old from New Zealand's beautiful South Island city called Christchurch (population 400,000). He initially was an accountant who after some persuasion decided to do a professional audition for a part in Sydney. We are glad he did. The rest is history and the operatic parts kept coming. He is now based internationally and has bought an apartment in New York but eventually wants to come home to Christchurch! He has been called the "Barihunk" and "The Brad Pitt of opera".
Teddy is Teddy Tahoe Rhodes. A classical singer, baratone if I am not mistaken. He has sang various Bass solos from Handel's Messiah, and some from Mozart as well.
Teddy is kind of tall, but Hayley is pretty short as well. Being short is good asset for a woman; I wish I was short.
Apart from that, this a really touching song. Teddy has an awsome baritone voice and I love Hayley's voice as well. This is an awsome song to practice when trying to form vowel sounds. The shape of your mouth has to be perfect.
This is a great song to practise control of vowel sounds. I love voices that don't have vibrato wallowing around and Hayley has a beautiful pure sound. Teddy is great to watch to learn how to open your mouth if you want to make real sound...and he does any vowel justice...This is a beautiful song. That stuff about fathers and daughters and surrogate mums and natural mothers..can anyone shine light on historical information?
well this guy sings like priest praying but she in her fiery sexy dress looks like a sound of a happy blessing and answers to the prayers of people like him. i just adore her
The song is a Maori song, Hine e Hine and it is on Haley's first album - PURE. Do your self a favour and buy it, if you like Haley's voice you will love the album.

To jess571... Yes you could be right, you would have to ask her natural mother that question, as I believe she is surrogate born. The Medical Practitioners Ethical Code will help answer those sort of questions. I LOVE HAYLEY..
Teddy's not her dad. Her biography is on her official site. I'm from her home city, she is from a normal sort of background and the daughter of a gemologist, what ever that is. Teddy is another New Zealand up and coming singer. He's not that old. If you're thinking Haley is a shorty, it's because Teddy is 6' 5".
Spot on. A gemologist is someone who studies valuable gems- diamonds, emeralds, and such. And Teddy is an entire foot taller than her- and his height would dwarf nearly anyone!

The lack of warmth you seem to detect could only be a product of the song itself. Her abilities go far beyond perfect pitch, could you be jealous?
