  • when this was first broadcast on the radio in america they thought it was a news bullitin and thought it was actually happening

  • No, that was the Orson Welles Radio Broadcast, which was before this version, which was released in 1978

  • Orson Welles: Father of Lulz.

  • for some reason when i play this song it rains!

    soo wierd

  • Can you stop playing it, then please? We'd had a dreadful summer. Thanks

  • LOL that is a good one hehe

  • Do we ever have great summers in the UK...

    :-)

  • Shear Brilliance o.o

  • Try the book - pretty good to

  • What can you say about this music apart from brilliant, so much going on.

  • God damn, it's been too long since I've heard this. Nostalgia.

  • Yeah; I had the LP version of this and listening to the opening narraration by the great engilsh actor Sir Richard Burton always gave me goosebumps!

  • Richard Burton was Welsh. A great Welsh actor.

  • Richard Burton was from Burton on Trent (hence the name) - he was actually half Irish which means he was only 1/3rd Welsh (but not many people know that)

  • The reason not many people know that is because it's false. Richard Burton came from Pontrhydyfen in Wales. He even spoke Welsh at home. He was de facto adopted by a man named Burton. His original surname was Jenkins. Also: I am not Welsh. I was correcting a mistake, not advancing nationalist nonsense.

  • We're doing a dance/mime performance for our schools performing arts tour and i have to admit this piece of music just captures your imagination. It tell a whole story in 8 minutes. Our dance/mime is pretty good too

  • The film the new one i think is totally crap, it has none of the songs and the intensity of the cd, CD will always be the best!

  • the chances of anything coming from mars are a million to one he said

  • But still....they come!

  • love this tune, its great. was the first q in my music exam, made me feel way more relaxed about it when i recognised something i new!

  • Amazing composition!

  • There's no video. I might as well listen to my CD. Rather dissapointing. =Stefan=

  • i remeber going to sleep with this on every night when i was like 6

  • im not ususualy into this type of stuff but i love this its catchy

  • I remember how afraid I used to be when I heard this as a child. It's interesting to hear similar responses from others. Any one wanting to hear anything creepier, check out Silent Hill 1 OST by Akira Yamaoka.

  • Reminds me of being 9! I used to look at the LP cover and was scared of the monsters from mars! This will always have a huge space in my heart.

  • bets song ever. love it to bits. but gutted because can't find my full version on CD!!!! :(

  • I love this song its one of the best i have heard yet.

  • Nobody makes music anymore like this.

Still as fresh today as all those years ago.#

  • Check out Nobuo Uematsu, Yoko Shimomura and Michiru Yamane. Not forgetting John Williams! Outstanding composers!!

  • brilliant i used to listen to it 24/7 i still love it and love the book go jeff waynes go hg wells but the films are a disgrace and hardly follow the plot

  • Yeah same! but mine are slightly nackered. Its quite fun listening to this in slow mo then it speeding up to double time but hey thats cassettes for you

  • Truely awsome! Dun Dun Daaaa! Dun Dun Daaaaaa!

  • I have to agree. I love this tune.

  • I saw the musicale at my local theatre. I loved this fantastic music, sadly the same cannot be said for the acting. Nor the visual effects (I think they used power point, and it crashed lol) But it was a good evening out all the same. I am now reading the book! :)

  • That beat is so brilliant!!!! :D Never scared me, but rather fascinated... Love it!

  • saw this live at the M.E.N in Manchester in December - fantastic night out, and 12 rows from the front. Jeff Wayne is a master!

  • pure beauty

  • As a little child I was always a bit scared when I heard this...I think I was 6 or 7 years old when this came out...Was it 1978 or 1979?Great song!

  • i was born nearly a decade later but i listened to this as a kid aswell and it always scared me

  • This music used to inspire pure fear within me when I was introduced to it as a kid. Even now I still get a bit paranoid that I'm being watched. Brilliant stuff.

  • Moving the last replay to the specified destination failed. Check your settings!

  • i saw it last night on sky movies and ive fallen in love with it, the martian on the screen behind the orchestra scared me to death, i know, sad lol. i really want to go see this live!!! thnx for posting!

  • I first heard war of the worlds at 6 years old i love it.

I watched war of the worlds on sky premier 2007 brilliant cant wait to see it live.

  • amazing music - how could you not love this. ive just found this new thing and they've put the best clips from the show into one bundle. its called an epac - i reccomend. epacstore . com

  • I listen to this version just about every halloween. Thats the best time to listen to it, when the moon is full, and you are all alone. Just like when i was a kid.

  • I have love dthis version of the war of the worlds since i first heard it. I was probably about 9 or 10, and they played on the radio on halloween. I really wish i could have seen the Version that has been shown on here, and i wish someone would have made a fefature length version of this. I still listen to it on halloween, to this day.

  • I love this music!!!

    Lolz don't ask why...

  • vur jeff baba vurrrr

  • The 1953 movie was amazing though. I have it on DVD and also the tom cruise one.

And im going to see Jeff Waynes, WotW next month!! Cant feckin wait :D

  • i can't get the 1953 one

  • Just google it man...it should be easy enough to get

War of the worlds 1953 DVD..and search :D

  • first heard it about a year ago, love it

  • This is gr8, shame the tickets cost £40...

  • £40 isn't much

  • W of the W genius its coming to cardiif in december hope theres some tickets left, just bought the vinyl as well awesome!

  • 1st heard it when I was 8 on those old records, lol, couldn't sleep for days lmao.

  • where did you get this music from

  • Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds.

  • Ive gone through countless tapes, 4 sets of cds now i just simply bought my fifth cd st and ripped it and now its safe under lock and key. This music will never die. And to have watched it in theater...... u just never forget stuff like that. Jeff Wayne loved every minute of it too, i was watching him, smile from ear to ear.

  • helal olsun.. yediğiniz ekmek size helal olsun.. size herşey yakışır.. müziğe bak be... jeff congrutilations..

  • Beauty :D

  • I saw this live on saturday night OMG it was awesome!!!

  • I went and saw this live last night. It was awesome.

  • We had to sing along to this at School, aged 10.

WE all found it very exciting, apart from the poor Martians, effectively the Chorus, whose only line was a bedraggled " Ulla! Ulla!"

    No Nathaniel !

  • Great Song x

  • can someone upload the entire thing? or maybe give a link to the entire thing? its lovely..

  • ooh yes please let us know if it happens

  • the nearest version i have seen is part of ray harryhausen's war of the worlds, he made the part where the lid unscrews and the tripod reveals itself but that was all he did due to lack of funding or something like that

  • check out waroftheservers .c o m/

  • Hehe. You know, I only found out about Jeff Wayne and his musical by watching that machinima. Awesome stuff.

  • Seen that great film do you have that game ? i do :P

  • oh yea gmod ten, been on the gmod train since 9 though

  • cool my bro showed me it and i couldnt resist to buy it :P

  • Lan Jeff Wayne utanmiyonmu 32. Gun un muzigini araklamissin cibilliyetsiz herif koca Turkiye nin gozu onunde hemde. M.Ali Birand yapti olm bu muzigi... dermisim... heheh :)

  • bought it when it came out on vinyl

on tour now in UK hit! favourite! excellent! =)

  • muy buena experiencia, siempre es grato encontrar esta alternativa.

  • EXELENT!!!!!!!!!

  • I liked the part where the martians speak that Ulla sound it sends chils down ones spine.

They should have asked Jeff to make the movie in stead of spielberg, jurk that movie sucked BIG TIME.

  • I'm sure Wayne would have jumped at the chance but I believe the movie bigwigs thought better and I'm sure Mr Cruises Scientology had some say etc etc etc. I agree a poor film that should have been a masterpiece. A sad loss to cinema history.

  • Don't worry, there's plans afoot for one ^_^

I think work will be beginning after the next tour is done.

  • why doesn't someone just go off and make a film about the proper story. I think we deserve one after that garbage. Ive listened to The war of the worlds since it first came out in 1978. Ive read the book and watched all the (crap) films. Bout time for the real thing...

  • Jeff says he wants to make it closer to the book than the musical was...so keep everything crossed.

Then again, it's a very special film that lives up to everything we imagined it to. Sometimes the best films are in our minds, eh? ;)

  • Agreed. if only i had 50 million dollars....

  • Yeah, but you gotta admit that the 1953 one wasn't bad

  • I think the 1953 version was pretty good.

  • WTF? I keep hitting reply on this thing pay no attention to these messages.

  • So since when did the original story (the book) have flying ships in them??? Nah that one sucked. The remake the Tom (Up myself cos i was born with silver spoon in my mouth) Cruise was in want really much better but it got close. I watched this at the Brisbane Entertainment Center. when Justin Came up to sing Forever Autumn his microphone wasnt working.... He would have been spittin chips.

  • Actually, the original DID have flying machines.

  • Yes, Jeff Wayne is working on a movie, and much of the base animation is already done, but even though the tours have taken priority, the movie is going to happen.

  • I get the shivers every time I hear this...it's so freakin awesome!

  • 32. gün

  • I love that part..."the chances of anything coming from Mars" sends shivers up me every time. Can't get enough of it!

  • FORMIDABILA MUZICA !!!!!!!

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • No visuals. Listening to my cd is better. =Stefan=
