I heard that this was on the Discovery Channel--at least parts of it--but I don't get cable or satellite so I paid $7.50 to see the movie and I was not disappointed. I thought it was simply wonderful. I was raised on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color on Sunday nights in the 1960s and really loved the True Life Adventures. Next year at this time another documentary called "Oceans" will be out and I will definitely see that.

It's pretty much the Discovery Channel's documentary 'Planet Earth' on the bigscreen. It's the same project and footage. It goes into detail on three mother/baby familes. A polar bear, blue whale, and elephant.

Okay confession. I never actually saw it on TV. I heard all the hype it was getting and asked for the DVD set for Christmas. David Attenborough narrates and I think he is terrific. Then I saw it on TV once and some woman was narrating and I couldn't stand it! :) I like my DVD set!

Okay, so, Disney makes more money with the extra happy ending in the US version. The British version, a little less cheery than the US version. Wouldn't we all benefit from a slightly more realistic ending, where we fat, apathetic humans feel motivated to do a little more than just look at the pretty movie? The filming technology is beyond wonderful; just sucks American Companies (and Gov't for that matter) would rather sugar coat for acceptance than just ask people to do the right thing.
