  • ehm... the chicken is in Bb. it's enharmonically correct but musically a blasphemy to write it starting from A#.

  • What the F%$#K with the audio??? up and down up and down!

  • They paid him in blows.

  • è sempre il migliore ed unico al mondo: è il bassista più bravo del mondo

  • Nice very nice bass playing :)

  • I like how the top comments are so intimidating.

  • The Best !!

  • song name?

  • @colecrob Soul Intro/The Chicken

  • @colecrob the chicken

  • I'm more of a Larry Graham but whatevs. Jaco's not bad.

  • 1 stept...

  • Luc Havan rules.

  • Jaco was so great that he had to die to let every other bass player catch up

  • in my opinion (which no one asked for) he was the foundation for folks like les claypool

  • @lottavernix yeah les claypool credits jaco pastorius and larry graham as big influences on him.

  • what consert is this from?

  • The Jimi Hendrix of Bass Guitar....he changed the game.

  • (?)

    Mala comparativa..

  • The best Bass player ever.

  • after michael balzary ;)

  • Pure and simple, Jaco was a freakin' GENIUS on the bass!!

  • Are u freakin' kidding me? He was a pioneer and one of the biggest influences on the bass for many of todays great bassists. Some of who probably wouldn't even be playing today if it wasn't for Jaco's influential playing.

  • @1980Triumph You really have no idea what you are talking about. The idea you suggest that "The whole 'influenced me' wasn't until after he died." is absolutely ludicrous, when Jaco was still living there were musicians all over the world copping his style and trying to duplicate what he did. If you REALLY RESEARCH all of his work, then your small brain will start to piece together what a genius he was. If not, then you lack any musical understanding.

  • @henilk2007 Like me ;)

Jaco Brought Me To The Bass. Rest in peace

  • Le plus grand, des plus grands big up!!!! Jaco

  • i have this DVD from montreal :D

  • John Entwistle would'nt touch him in a billion years ' as for Victor Wooten & Mark King, if it was'nt for Jaco they would'nt play

    the bass

  • pretty much this

  • can't compare different styles

  • Hey mydog2134 checkout Jaco s first solo album checkout Punkd Jazz checkout Weather Report or the stuff he did with Joni Mitchell , then listen to the oppinions of people like Herbiie Hancock Ira Sullivan or Joe Zawinal then watch yourself doing that sweeping bass thing you do on your profile

  • Well hes obviously better than me DUhh lol..i never hinted he was better than me. I just asked why is he SOOO GOOD? i dont think hes the best bass player ever. Maybe i think that cause hes not my style or he seems like ive seen this before many many times, im not sure. Maybe i dont understand what hes trying to do and such. to me he just seems like a traditional bass player. When i think of great bass players of course people like Wooten sheehan entwistle mark king come to mind as just examples

  • Fair play for being honest. In response to some of the comments from your post; of course you can compare different styles. If you only compare like with like there's nothing to compare... I think what's important is what you said about hearing this many times before; this is because Jaco's influence was so powerful that his influence is felt in almost all bass players. In some ways as a young bass player you don't always know how important some influences are

  • For example, most of us wouldn't quote Bach as a mojor influence, but his influence was so great that it virtually defined Western harmony. I think Vic has had a lot of influence on certain techniques for young players, but no one else in your list can compare to Jaco's onslaught in the musical world! He opened everyone's ears to the potential of the bass. Fair enough, most good players can play Teen Town now, but I guarantee if Jaco was still here he'd be spanking us all with his technique :)

  • Sheehan is definitely up there and the other guys are definitely great even though I thought Level 42 was kinda gay but Jaco had an ability to be really deep in the pocket while still filling in the pocket. Wooten even said Jaco could play as many notes as he wanted and it would never sound too busy which is what puts him over the top for me. James Jamerson and Jack Bruce paved the way and Jaco came running through at fulll speed. Also Jaco's fretless intonation was flawless

  • man wtf is "duvi da"?

  • hey someone tell me why hes soo good?

  • have you heard some of his solos?

get back to me with that.....

  • rotfl zing! honestly though jaco was incredible :D his bass playing on his debut self titled solo album is evidence of his genius

  • it's the talent, baby. people are sometimes just born with it. if anybody could be like him, then everyione would be equal, and that is just not the case, you know what i mean?

  • Seriously, if you cannot hear it yourself, it's not worth wasting the time. Just listen and learn. A true musical master is at your fingertips.

  • Too friggin' much. I love it !

  • Thanks for remembering always this amazing and unforgotable bassman,

  • MUY BUENO!!

  • 这就是真正的大师......独特的音色....牛!

  • the soul never die

  • jaco pastorius gone but never forgotton

  • So well done - i love it!!!!!!! :)

  • Jaco and Michael Brecker on the same stage, how I wish I could have been there for that!

  • Funk it!

  • Through all of Jaco's personal turmoil and tragic end, his beautiful soul shone brightly through his amazing music. Thanx for the cool post!

  • I hear you dieselboy64

  • ...bless you my friend. It's good to know other keen folk can share in the magic of sonic communication that this man can get across so seemless, natural, and powerful!

  • Jaco was simply a beautifful human being. He will always be remembered. Nice words xD

  • right back at you man!

  • xD Jaco 4 life!!!!

  • Awesome video!

  • I have a funny little story to share for anyone who needs a laugh:I totally dig Jaco Pastorius's stuff...and I was listening to some of his stuff on youtube(blackbird solo)my 15 yr old son comes in sees the name and is like "hey you know Jaco pastorius?" I said "yeah why?" Everyone knows him!!" and my son is like "wow because, like he sent me a friend request on myspace." HAHAHAHAHA I had to share that with my fellow Jaco fans.Obviously the boy needs learnin'. LOL

  • Jaco does have a "myspace" site. That is obviously run by someone in the family.

  • most dead musicains have one.

    still lol worthy

  • agreed

  • yeah he sent me one too!!!! haha that's funny

  • I liked the video... he was great...forget people who don't aprecciate and say these things...

  • you have arctic monkeys and velvet underground videos in your channel. what do you know about music? shut up.

  • LOL! i can understand where wachoohoo is coming from. Look at the vid he posted "pinkshinyultrablast" and you'll see why he calls jaco's music "monkey music"

poor bastard really knows talent! LOL!

  • @gouliwooz hey that's not fair! I don't know who you're talking to but I know that just because you like Arctic Monkeys or Velvet Underground you don't know anything about music. I'm a grade 6 euphonium, grade 5 bass guitar and grade 3 piano and GUESS WHAT.......my favourite bands are Muse and Franz Ferdinand and ARCTIC MONKEYS!!!!! But I also happen to think Jaco Pastorius was a genius!!!! So stop stereotyping people. Shut up.

  • @gouliwooz hey that's not fair! I don't know who you're talking to but I know that just because you like Arctic Monkeys or Velvet Underground it doesn't at all mean you don't know anything about music. Shut up.

  • wachoohoo your a russian piece of shit, shut up!!

  • Why post things like that? When you hit puberty just would have embarassed yourself with phrases like that.

  • @RowanSpry ooooh I'm intrigued.....who are you talking to?

  • nice video... loved the intro

  • He didn't take himself, he was killed by a bouncer.

  • he was basically murdered by some roidhead bouncer who beat him so bad when they found him his eyeball was hanging out of the shattered eye socket, the scumbag said he just pushed jaco, and got out of jail after 6 months for good behavior, its an outrage, a disgrace and a tragedy

  • is this true man?i loved his playing so much.f...tears in my eyes.he must have a nice place in music heaven for all the wonderfull music he gave us.hope i see hime again

  • sadly it is true

  • God bless Jaco. He was taken before his time.
