The Intelligentsia always claims that Radiohead saved Rock n Roll. I say it was the Pixies.

I think it's more that they have been playing the song so long that they get a little creative. Her stretching it out wasn't close to ruining the timing. She also adds a little melody every other time that she didn't do before. They have learned alot sense they wrote it. It sounds like she really likes playing the song and has just come up with better vocal melodies sense the original recording.
@JackBlair2 - Pixies prime years were in the 80's not the 90's. .Back then Indie Rock was full of bands like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Husker Du etc...compare that to the indie rock world of today and then ask yourself do you really want to try to make the argument that bands in the Pixies era sucked?...artists like Thom Yorke, David Bowie, PJ Harvey and yes Kurt Cobain have all said the Pixies were great..i think they know more about music than you.

there's a reason the pixies are still loved and still being discovered by new generations of music fans while contemporaries like Husker Du and Dinosaur Jr. have largely been forgotten...it's because in addition to being ridiculously creative and unique the music of the Pixies is just plain fun to listen and rock out to.
This is SO awesome, and my fave Pixies song :) I always said between The Pixies and Nirvana, the wrong band got big (and Nevermind was a total Pixies ripoff IMO-Kurt Cobain even admitted it)

@JackBlair2 - Pixies prime years were in the 80's not the 90's. .Back then Indie Rock was full of bands like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Husker Du etc...compare that to the indie rock world of today and then ask yourself do you really want to try to make the argument that bands in the Pixies era sucked?...artists like Thom Yorke, David Bowie, PJ Harvey and yes Kurt Cobain have all said the Pixies were great..i think they know more about music than you.

I'm kind of tired of the Pixies hagiography. Yes, they were a great band - but let's not go overboard.
The Pixies were not so much a great band as the fact that most bands of the 90s SUCKED.

what i don't understand is why it took everyone so long to dig 'em and now they are more popular now then thr late 80's early 90's........wait maybe because that's when bands were true to their craft and would tour and make records not to make big $ but because they loved it. before you know it husker du, the meat puppets, firehose(minutemen), replacements, ect. ect. will get their due because todays bands suck. Give me a turntable and almost any thing on SST and i'll show you real music

Saw them live yesterday and they were amazing!
Thank goodness they decided to tour again.
Charles was superb, Kim was smiling all through the show, Joey rocked and David is still a hell of a drummer!

ps the breeders and the amps are a million times better then whatever this reunion for money shit is. preserve your positive attitude about the pixies and skip this video, go to your itunes and listen to it in there. way better. but instead of that, get stoned, have a gin and tonic, and listen to the b-sides album and rock out with your cock out on your couch alone (or, respectively, your vagina out.). the way the pixies were meant to be enjoyed. or at the beach.

man i love love love the pixies for 15 years but kim looks miserable like she hates being there with frank black, and don't get me started on him he is an old art fag now its pathetic. he is trying to "sing" like you used to but his old art fagginess just seeps thru and hes trying to find the melodic notes of his "wonderful singing voice" and it just comes out wrong. stop TRYING to sing damnit just scream a lot like you used to and lose 100 pounds so you can jump around and rock out fatty. @nfgoffo11 I think loud quiet loud really showed that they have mellowed with age, even Frank, he's no saint and he knows it. I'm pretty sure Kim did the reunion purely for fans. But fuck all with the heavy criticism, at least it's a chance for fans who were but small children then, to go see them live now and honestly, Franks voice wasn't much better back in 88.

there's a reason the pixies are still loved and still being discovered by new generations of music fans while contemporaries like Husker Du and Dinosaur Jr. have largely been forgotten...it's because in addition to being ridiculously creative and unique the music of the Pixies is just plain fun to listen and rock out to.

This is SO awesome, and my fave Pixies song :) I always said between The Pixies and Nirvana, the wrong band got big (and Nevermind was a total Pixies ripoff IMO-Kurt Cobain even admitted it)
