What's so horrible about this was: I went to Night of Champions last night and when I tried starting a Macho chant, the kids around me why I was chanting that and then when I explained about Randy Savage doing the elbow, they all told me that Shawn Michaels made the elbow drop famous. I almost cried.

This isn't the first the first he gave props to a legend. if i remember correctly, when Japanese puroresu pioneer Mitsuharu Misawa died, he wrote his name on his wrist tapesas a tribute. Punk is known to be a student of the industry, and he know to give thanks to his idols and those who paved the way for him.

@y2joct7 Punk planned the spot with Kane on very short notice as a tribute to Savage who passed away 2 days prior. It wasn't a move in Punk's moveset so that's why Kane rolled away so Punk can get his tribute in without hurting Kane.

Guess what? Punk worked on landing the Elbow Drop and eventually mixed it in to his moveset and debuted it at Summerslam. He has used it at every pay-per-view since. CM Punk is the Best in the World for a reason.
