ehh...with triggers you dont have to hit the kick as hard therefore it more like 'perceived' intensity. check out george kollias and he really breaks it down in some of his vids.

very true but double bass drumming isn't about how hard you're playing its about consistant kicks. the truly hard part of playing a double kick is keeping your feet moving oppositely, ya know back and fourth, which in turn you dont always kick as hard. triggers make your kicks more noticeable and consistant. i mean we're all human so we can and will fuck up sometime. triggers just make the bass clearer and louder.

it really has nothing to do with easier.

Actually there's such a thing as amplified double bass without the triggers I think.... Mike Portnoy uses it. The triggers just get out the best possible sound for the bass as well as any other drum piece you might hook it up to....
